That is what I feel about 312. The service is outstanding. The food and serving sizes meets is equal to the price you pay. The atmosphere is well suited for conversation as you are not bombarded with outside noise.
I've had lunches/breakfast ranging in size from 2 - 15 and I have never had a bad experience.

We arrived early and received our table, actually our favorite table, promptly and without a concern. The prix-fixe three course menu has been a wonderful addition to the atmosphere and this time my wife chose it and I used the regular menu, just the opposite of our last visit. We were surprised by the delivery of an amuse-bouche, a chef's small plate for each of us, with tomato and buffalo mozzarella cheese, wrapped with proscutto, warmed and served with aged balsamic, an antipasti we vowed to order when next we dine there. Service was pleasant and well-timed. We were early due to light traffic, but were welcomed and shown to our "regular" table without hesitation. We noted the "prix fixe" and pre-theater menu had been considerably broadened to allow choice of three appetizers, three main courses and three desserts and at a most reasonable price in addition to the regular menu and as always, with a very nice selection of wines by the glass in addition to those by the bottle. Service was nicely paced and waitstaff were diligent but not bothersome. While we did have a table of young women nearby who were quite noisy this time, we've found that to be the exception rather than the rule. It's a busy place and very noisy, with no separation between the bar and the restaurant. The food is excellent and the service efficient, though because it is so busy there is not much personal attention.
My wife and I are vegetarians and we were especially pleased to find that 312 has a vegetarian menu, with a good selection of choices. We wish other restaurants were as accommodating.
