We shared two appetizers, the goat cheese with roasted garlic & sundried tomato, delicious and the ravioli stuffed with butternut squash in a cream sauce, excellent. Two of the entrée's were specials, the halibut was excellent, the pork dishes were good, but nothing special, the faro and kale dish was excellent. Our waiter was attentive, but not in the way letting us finish our appetizers and entrée's and not clearing away dishes too soon so we didn't feel rushed while keeping our wine glasses full. The food is consistently good and the wait staff comfortably attentive. If we have one criticism, it is the noise level... energetic is a euphemism for 'too noisy." A couple can ask for one of the tiny booths and converse. If you come with your own large party, you are the noise makers. If your party is anywhere in between, normal conversation is difficult. And get the filet!We have been going to 300 East since coming to Charlotte over 15 years ago and it has always been good, but we went on Saturday before going to Theater Charlotte and it was GREAT!!! We had the filet: stuffed with Gorgonzola, wrapped in bacon and topped with a blob of herbed garlic butter, it was DIVINE. The place was packed but quiet and the service was warm and professional but non-intrusive. We sat at the front window looking out onto East Blvd. with the old homes in the foreground and the skyline farther on. An overall marvelous experience. I highly recommend you get the butternut squash ravioli as an appetizer. It is amazing. I have not had an entree there that I do not like yet. Everything is delicious and fresh, right down to the homemade desserts. Every server I have had has been extremely friendly and attentive. Just a great overall experience.
