3 Doors DownDark, noisy, and delicious. At peak hours, this place really buzzes. So if you're looking for a great conversation over dinner, this ain't the place. Nor should should you take your older glasses-wearing relatives here, unless they're prepared to squint in low light. But make no mistake, the kitchen knows what it's doing. Fish and fowl cooked to perfection. Vibrant side dishes and pastas, all well-presented. This is one of the best modern Italian restaurants in Portland.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat FoodI would have given the restaurant a 5 star if it were not for the slow service. We were virtually ignored for the first 20 minutes after we had been seated and it wasn't until we complained that the manager took over. After that the service was impeccable. The food was amazing and the experience overall was good enough that I would give it another chance.
As an aside, they appeared to be shorthanded and the manager insisted on comping all of our drinks (4 glasses of wine between us).5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMA definite place to goOutstanding place to go. Do yourself a favor and have dinner here.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I stumbled uponMy wife and I stumbled upon 3 Doors Down while visiting Portland 2 years ago. We had never heard of it had no idea we were going to have such terrific food. Our next trip to Portland this past weekend had 3 Doors Down as a top priority for one of our dinners and it was well worth it. I want to mention our great server, Zac, who was fantastic, extremely knowledgeable about the menu and wines and even went out of his way to try and find us some plastic utensils so we could take a slice of their banana cream pie back to our hotel. If yo live in Portland and haven't tried 3 Doors Down or if you ever take a trip there, you must try 3 Door Down as it is well worth it.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMFresh Pasta and lots of Love! The staff and food at 3 Doors Down never disappoints! We love to go there for the fresh pasta and great drinks! If you want something a bit meatier, try the brined pork chop...It's a melt in your mouth piece of happy pork!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had an excellent dinnerWe had an excellent dinner - great food, wine and service. We hadn't been to 3DD in a couple years as it is just too loud - hard to have a conversation with all the noise.
Will for sure be going back - would be nice if they could do something about how loud it is, though.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AM3 Doors Down is one of my3 Doors Down is one of my favorite places when in PDX. This restaurant consistently provides excellent food, service, and ambiance. One of the persons who ate at this establishment on this evening is also a foodie and comes from a big city replete with great restaurants--she loved 3DD as well. I recommend this restaurant with only one reservation, which has been the same: they need to place some kind of noise absorbent material on the walls as it gets too loud inside. That qualification should not deter someone from looking for an excellent dining experience, however.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best halibut I have everThe best halibut I have ever eaten. Exceptional service and quiet.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMI have been to 3 Doors downI have been to 3 Doors down several times. This was the first time I was disappointed in the food. We had the ravioli appetizer that was extremely salty, and the "touch of cream" on the special was a full cream sauce. However, the service was fantastic and our server had some great recommendations for wine.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMEnegetic Crowd but excellent food aA little bit busier and louder than we expected, and the tables were very close together. Despite those issues, the food and service were fabulous. The only thing, is if I am paying $25-$30 for plates and have candlelight, I prefer to hear my date better and not to accidently elbow the table next to me.
Again- food excellent, service excellent, the ambiance just was not our style - it however did fit a hip Urban crowd like Papa Haydens, with a little bit less room to manuever.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat find!!!!Great food and excellent service. This was my second visit and they are spot on consistently great.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother great experienceAnother great experience. Great food, wine and staff always adds to the occasion. The added twist of including a vegan request although not on the menu the staff came up with a wonderful set of offerings.
Thanks again Cathy.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMremains one of the best diningremains one of the best dining experiences in a town full of good restaurants. Great ambiance!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food - Great ServiceWe stayer away too long. It is well worth the trek to the Hawthorne District. The only drawback was it needs better lighting. Our server was outstanding - one of Portland's best.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWe go to three doors oftenWe go to three doors often and the food and service are always excellent.2/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love 3 Doors Down! HaveWe love 3 Doors Down! Have been coming here since it's inception. The food is consistently very, very good-you can't beat the vodka penne with homemade sausage. The servers are friendly and so efficient. Kathy, one of the owners, is always so welcoming and does everything to ensure your dining experience is wonderful.2/2/2013 12:00:00 AMA Dining Delight! As a single, dining out can be a challenge. You are usually seated at the back of the restaurant by the bus boy's station. Not so at Three Doors, I had a window seat and was treated very kindly. The food and ambiance were very nice, so it will make a nice evening out no matter what your party size. I had the leg of lamb entree which was fall off the bone awesome. One of the owners even came over to talk to me to make sure I was enjoying my dining experience. When you visit them over different holidays you are entertained by a pianist as well. I recommend that you try this hidden gem out!12/31/2012 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant has alwaysThis restaurant has always been good, but it has become one of our very favorites and one that is so nice to introduce friends and family to. The food is consistently wonderful, as are cocktails and wine. We will return over and over!12/23/2012 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant is in a greatThis restaurant is in a great location, with plenty of quirky shops nearby. It opens directly at 5, so I had a chance to walk around the neighborhood while I waited, and very much enjoyed that.
My waiter was extremely attentive without being pushy, and the food was stellar. I picked as an appetizer the roasted brussels sprouts in a cream sherry sauce precisely because I'm not a fan of brussels sprouts, and they were completely lacking in bitterness, flavorful, and the cream sauce was delicious. They also have some items that almost no other place in the West that I know of has, like birch beer, and I really appreciate that!12/19/2012 12:00:00 AMWe have been coming to 3 DoorsWe have been coming to 3 Doors Down since its inception and have never been disappointed in anything about this restaurant. My husband gets the scallops for an appetizer everytime and just raves about them! I love the vodka penne with home-made sausage. It is one of their signature dishes. Save room for dessert--fabulous choices!12/1/2012 12:00:00 AM
