2941 RestaurantGreat special occasion destinationThey did a great job making fathers day and my moms birthday special. They did was great, my parents couldn't stop praising how good it was! They brought out a complimentary dessert for my mom with a candle which was a really nice touch. They made the night special and I will definitely go back again!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMBreath of fresh air! This was a special lunch for family. The place was very accommodating for a group of 10. The menu suited everyone. The place was quiet enough for hearing table conversation easily. The service was excellent. The restaurant is spacious and airy....nice view. Free valet parking. Delicious dessert for the honored guest. Highly recommend!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAn unexpected gemLooking for a new restaurant can be a challenge when you just want a nice quiet dinner out of the house. After some searching through reviews I came upon an article in the Washingtonian that led me to a mental picture of a romantic dinner lakeside with complimentary valet parking - and it's exactly what I got. The service was friendly and efficient, the Old Fashioned I had was superb, and the food was exactly what it promised - delicious.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMI am considering giving aI am considering giving a wedding shoer in April of 2014 and would like to speak with someone about this. Our waiter when we came on Thursday was great!!6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfectIt was perfect in every way. I will definitely go again for special occasions. It's a bit pricey, but it should be when you consider the food and the overall restaurant.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMNever lets us downWe've dined at 2941 a few times and once again, we were very pleased. With all the restaurants in the DC area, we could literally try something new every night out. But we come back to 2941 - great food, well-prepared and presented. And service is always just right - never over-done.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AM2941 a big hit!We celebrated our anniversary at 2941. Our drink in the bar was really nice. Our table was ready on time, and the food was terrific. The service was flawless, and we will definitely return.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent EveningWe had eaten at 2941 a couple of years ago, and upon our return I'm not sure why we didn't return sooner. The entire evening was lovely. The sommelier recommended a fabulous chardonnay that went perfectly with both of our meals! My halibut was moist and had added flavor since it was wrapped in bacon. My husband is still raving about the tuna tartar and the salmon. The desserts were unique, delicious and are meant to be ordered one per person. It was a lovely end to the meal.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat value; great foodThe June special offer was a great value. We visit 2941 on a regular basis. We had been a bit disappointed on a previous visit, but our latest experience was top rate. Each of the items had us commenting on the great taste.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent choices well executed3 in our group, young and older, the experience stood up well to downtown competition with much less stress and hassle. Every dish distinct from others. Sampled small bites, appetizers, pastas, desserts, and drinks. All wonderful. Service smooth. :) We all left smiling and satisfied.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect evening! The restaurant itself is amazing with its open spaces -- and tables set far away from each and a a view of the lake made this a very romantic and intimate setting. Each dish was full of a variety of flavors. Absolutely delicious! Wait staff timed it all so perfectly! All in all an ideal evening!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place for a specialGreat place for a special occassion. Very nice setting and food is very good!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding!OMG! The ambiance, the food, the view, the service... couldn't be better! We celebrated my husband's retirement and the evening was just perfect! He enjoyed trying 2 different single malt scotches from their extensive list! We ordered from the Prix Fixe For Two menu and I had a luscious chilled white asparagus soup and he had the beet salad with crispy goat cheese. Both were phenomenal! He ordered rib eye tournedos and I had duck ravioli with the very intriguing and delicious sides of wild leeks and edible ferns... Both were delightful and the accompanying sauces enhanced, rather than disguised, the flavors of the entrees. Dessert was a scrumptious medley of delights from a petite ricotta eclair to fresh strawberries. Perfect!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMYou'll want to try everything...We live nearby and and as there are few restaurants of this caliber in the area we use 2941 for many special occasions. The menu is pricey and so we want to make the most of the experience. We love sharing multiple small dishes rather than each ordering a main course. Staff are always gracious about the arrangement. This visit the duck ravioli and the rhubarb with cucumber dessert were spectacular.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a beautiful restaurant! This is a beautiful restaurant! The staff was very accommodating in graciously increasing our party size from 6 to 7 diners. Because the waiters were under-staffed, our waiter apologized for the wait, and gave two of our diners free desserts when the kitchen sent out the wrong desserts. The waiter also remembered that our lunch was a going-away party for one of our guests (noted in OpenTable), and brought a special dessert for her with a candle. Overall, it was a very good experience, and I would not hesitate to go back. Oh, and the gnocchi were amazing!!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMBest of the bestWonderful experience, as hoped it still would be. Impeccable service. Mildly dissadpointed with no swordfish, but could have put anything in that incredible broth/black lentil foam. Thanks for the special dessert!5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went for our anniversaryWe went for our anniversary and loved it. We ordered the 5 course taster and initially thought it may not be enough food. The portions were small, however the food was amazing. The scallops were memorable. After the 3rd course, we were feeling a little full. Although the portions are small, you will get enough to eat while sampling a good portion of the menu. The service was excellent. I would recommend this hidden gem.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMStill a nice placeYes, they've stopped trying to be an excellent restaurant, but they're still pretty good. You just have to realize now that 2941 is no longer bothering to compete to be among the top restaurants. No more amuse bouche before dinner, or free baguette or cotton candy after. You do get a free sweet after the meal -- a warm doughnut hole. They call them beignets, but they're not -- they're doughnut holes. Fortunately, it seems they've also dropped their prices a bit along with their aspirations. Is it worth the cost? Probably.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMDate nightThis was our first time dining at 2941 and we would definitely go back. The location is a little confusing but I love how it's somewhat hidden, very discrete.
We started off with the zucchini fritters which were very good. The melted feta really was a nice flavor.
The beet salad was very good as well and a decent size to share for two people.
The sea scallops were full of flavor and the presentation was great!
The salmon melted in my mouth and just the right portion.
the caffe dolce, which was very good but not sure if we'd get it again. We both agreeded that it wasn't worth $18.
cabernet which was "fair" as well as the white sangria.
Our service was very good &the ambience was great!
It's a little pricy but the food is very good!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMNever go wrong here!Had the tasting menu which was excellent. Great service.. wine pairings were eclectic and different but somehow still fell into a traditional sense of pairing. The sommelier there is amazing as is the staff and the chef. love it!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding menu and serviceThis is our favorite spot for celebrating special occasions. Lakeside location is pleasant. Menu reflects finest French cuisine. Particularly nice that they have small plates, appetizers and entrees and as such the ability to combine to meet everyone's palate and appetite. Desserts outstanding.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMDiamond In The RoughThis was my first time & I have been trying to hit this place since finding it on OpenTable in November when I moved here. This place is outstanding with everything! Would recommend for any time dining.
Will be back & might even have a new regular place:)5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday dinnerGreat place to celebrate a birthday, beautiful decor, great service and very good food and drinks The weekday prix fixe, which is delicious and creative, is a great deal. We were also serve house donuts and a piece if birthday cake. This is a place to enjoy!5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMChef's Tasting Menu is AmazingThis is the second year in a row we have had the spring tasting menu and it is a winner again this year. The dishes were light and flavorful, not too filling so you could keep enjoying each dish. The only slight miss was the rhubarb dessert which was too hard and bitter for our taste. The wine pairings are also especially good this time of year. Ladies, bring a sweater in case you get a table by the window -- that's where the air conditioning comes out too!5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMMonica's reviewThe restaurant has an awesome decor and view; the pictures and candelabras are beautiful. The food is good but not great, and the portions are too small for what they cost. The duck breast was tender and juicy, but was not seasoned enough...the sauce was good and made it taste better. The beet salad was good, but the portion was so small that it dissapeared in the big round white plate...all I could see was the white plate; they need to either increase the portion, add some greens, or use a different rectangular smaller plate. The strawberry short cake was AWESOME, and definitely...my favorite!5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome chef's menu and wineAwesome chef's menu and wine pairing. very attentive and knowledgeable waiter and sommelier. Special dessert surprise for our anneversary!5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were staying in the areaWe were staying in the area for just one night and reviews pointed at 2941 as the best in the area. We were not disappointed. It was a Monday night so it was a bit slow. One can only imagine the high energy on weekend nights. The food was first rate and the space is gorgeous including the outdoor views.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful and DeliciousThis is a beautiful restaurant...with all the glass, you feel like you are at a woodlands retreat--a very elegant one. The bar drinks are special and tasty. The dinner menu is outstanding. The four of us were delighted with every sight, sip and morsel. Our server, Brian, was attentive and fun. The dessert came with the Happy Anniversary decoration I requested when I called the afternoon before. The whole dining experience was special. 2941 is a gem!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMTasting menu a must!My husband and I dined at 2941 for his birthday and we both had the tasting menu with wine pairing. Fantastic!! It was absolutely delicious. We enjoyed every bite.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was as it shouldEverything was as it should have been. Great food, service, and environment.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic restaurant!!!This restaurant is an 11 out of 10. My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here, and I was more than impressed. A lot of restaurants claim to have world-class chefs, food, service, etc...but I've yet to experience one that actually lives up to those claims, until 2941.
Our waiter, Michael, was as professional as can be and he even brought us a chocolate mousse brownie dessert with "Happy Anniversary" written in fudge sauce on the side.
Everything, from beginning to end, was incredible. For being located near the intersection of I-495 and US-50, the atmosphere is very peaceful. I'd highly, highly recommend this restaurant.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional foodEspecially the tasting menu--best restaurant we have been to in DC/NOVA5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMJason was great! Our server Jason provided excellent service and attended to our needs making our visit quite pleasant and memorable!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Mother's DayHad a wonderful Mother's Day experience at 2941 - the wait staff was superb, the food excellent and the entire experience was one to be remembered.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful and FriendlyWe had a table by the window which on a gorgeous spring day is really something special. Waiting for our table (we were early) we had a drink at the bar with a wonderful bartender and a couple of fabulous cocktails. Our waiter was efficient, well versed and friendly. The cod tempura appetizer was great as was the duck ravioli and the rib eye...the risotto, though, was not up to par...but it was Mother's Day with a full house, so a real challenge for the kitchen. Notwithstanding the risotto, dining here was a super experience....And to my surprise there was a lovely gift from the restaurant to each mother...a really nice ending to a lovely meal.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent All Around!Everything was perfect - the host staff, the wait staff, the bus staff, the food, the wine...everything was excellent all around!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place to have dinnerExceptional food, outstanding service, nice atmosphere and gorgeous view5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is one of the best restaurantsThis is one of the best restaurants in the area. The food and service were outstanding as was the wine. Our waiter was friendly to a fault. I had the best veal loin I have ever eaten and my wife the smoked duck which could not stop raving about.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMService is a bit slow sometimes.Service is a bit slow sometimes. But more importantly, the front desk doesn't recognize regular/returning customers! Maybe they can get lessons from some the top restaurants in the area.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMinnovative but not pretentiousWe enjoyed the overall experience. Attentive staff and excellent waiter. Our order was delayed and my pork was slightly overcooked- this was remedied but there was an additional wait. The food was delicious - the duck ravioli was quite good, but a little thin on the duck. The frisee was especially good, and some of the best asparagus I've ever tasted. The lemon dessert with madelines had great balance and flavour and was perfect choice afterwards. We had no wine. We will be back.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAcross-the-board, a top restaurantWhile not culinary geniuses, these chefs have mastered their craft. The oysters were superb. The hand-made penne was scrumptious, with an exceptional sauce, dotted with cooked-yet-crunchy pancetta and peas. The duck was not greasy, the skin perfectly crisp, while the beef was well-textured, not fatty yet tender, and fully flavored. The saucier knows how to make a sauce, with a light yet rich classic bearnaise, lightly redolent of tarragon, as well as a wine reduction for the beef. The rich, winy, duck jus was mouth-watering too. The shared dessert,a chocolate hazelnut log--just plain yummy and very, very rich. The server knew his stuff and recommended perfect wines. One criticism: The hosts seem inexperienced.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a large group and 2941We had a large group and 2941 handled it very well. This is a great place to enjoy a delicious dinner in relaxing surroundings.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AM2941 - elegant & deliciousThe roast duck was superb and the side of potatoes sinful, but delicious. This restaurant has it all! Our server, Borkos, was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Watch for the lagniappe at meal's end. We were delighted by a special cake honoring our 7th wedding anniversary and then came two delicious beignets! (We were wafted back to the Cafe du Monde in New Orleans.)
Enjoy!4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMClimbing UpWe've been to 2941 three times this calendar year - it has improved on each occasion. Food and service were exceptional - as was the wine advice.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyable EveningHaving this was our first time, I will say that it won't be our last. The menu provided a lot of choices for different interests despite the limited selection. It truly focused on the food and service worthy of a 5-star restaurant. The surrounding is excellent, but the parking (self park) is a bit confusing and a walk through an office building taking the elevator down. While we are not wine drinkers, I can tell you the wine list is vast. I see it as a great place for dining where pairing wine with food as the activity. The décor is contemporary with an air of elegance absent pretention. Good service, but the staff needs to smile more as they were too serious. Very enjoyable and a bit pricey, but it is money well spent.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and service and ambienceNothing to complain about really... .great service, food and ambience. The menu selection was god although some unfamiliar goers may expect a broader selection so they should be aware. Wine was excellent. A complimentary desert with birthday wishes was nice! Other desserts were great as well. My son says have Mango Ice Cream!
The coy pond/entry was nice. The interior design was nice4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat As Ever2941 was our favorite restaurant in the area. Then they did the refresh at the beginning of 2012, the menu changed, and we were reluctant to go back. We wanted a tasting menu -- not another casual place. We finally went -- and it seems like they have morphed back to the way it was before, without the tablecloths. Our meal was outstanding. Strangely, there was no amuse, and the bread was not all it was before. But after that it was sensational -- the halibut, the smoked venison, and the lime dessert were standouts. Service was elegant. At $85, this was the best five-course tasting we have had in 2013, anywhere. The dining room continues to be the best in the area. And the kitchen can compete and beat any kitchen downtown.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMYou can't go wrong choosingYou can't go wrong choosing any item on the menu. Always fresh, always delicious, and the presentation is always superb. If you like Carrot Cake, you will absolutely LOVE the C3 dessert.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMI was on a tight scheduleI was on a tight schedule at lunch and the service was exceptional. I was shocked to actually be walking out the door and back to the office on time. The rockfish salad was awesome!4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMI asked the owner of a Tosca,I asked the owner of a Tosca, my favorite restaurant in Washington DC if he could recommend a good restaurant in N.VA. Without hesitation he said: 2941. I have dined there 3 or 4 times and have not been disappointed. The food is very well prepared and served with just enough attention to detail to communicate that you are a welcomed guest. N. Hart Nibbrig, Ph.D. Arlington, VA...4/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
