Diner Reviews
  • "The ambiance was very romantic from the water features outside the entrance to the private seating along the window. The waiter and servers were very attentive and friendly. The food presentation was especially nice and the food tasted every bit as good as it looked! This is definitely a place we will come back to for future special occasions - this was our wedding anniversary. Thank you for making this such a special evening!"

  • "We did the five course tasting menu with wine pairing. The presentation of the food and wine was the absolute best I have ever had."

  • "My second time here--even better than the first time. Innovative and delicious menu. Excellent service. Looking forward to my next visit."

  • "I hadn't been here in years, and the first couple times I went when this place first opened, everything was fantastic. This time around, we came on a Travelzoo deal (which I found odd for this restaurant, but hey, it was a great discount). We noticed that a 20% gratuity was automatically included, so we weren't sure if that was to blame, or just the general service there sucked. Our waiter just didn't seem to be in a pleasant mood, and it took him forever to ever get to our table, for any reason. It took awhile or us to even find him to get his attention to get our check. The service alone makes us question if we'd ever come back. Food: ribeye, caesar salad, oysters and lamb. Everything was cooked well, tasted fine, but nothing amazing."

  • "What a wonderful dining experience! We took the Metro from W.Falls Church into D.C. to check out the cherry blossoms. We were nervous when we pulled up as we were very underdressed wearing jeans however the staff assured us it was no problem. The restauraunt is bright and airy. The staff and service was EXCEPTIONAL! Our server was right on the mark with his recommendations, tow of which were of the many highlights of this meal: the risotto and the brussel sprouts. Outstanding! All food was excellent, right down to the delicious bread and butter served fresh and warm. The menu featured plenty intersting choices making it very difficult to choose. And make sure you save room for dessert. We hope to visit again next time we are in the area."

  • "2941 has become one of our absolute favorite restaurants. Everything is good but the tuna tartare and lamb are exquisite! Service is always attentive and professional. Extensive wine list."

  • "We were celebrating our anniversary and wanted to be at an upscale restaurant. This was the place to be! Our server was excellent. I loved the wine and cocktail. Didn't care for the soup but overall, the rest of the courses were delicious. There is defintely going to be a next time."

  • "We are huge fans of Candace, the sommelier. The food was fantastic and the wine pairings were excellent."

  • "From the time you find that somewhat hidden driveway to pulling up to the valet parking, the experience this special Restaurant with Koi ponds as you enter the restaurant and the open area outdoor and indoor seating create a a wonderful atmosphere. The greetings are sincere and you are seated promptly always. The wait staff is informed knowledgeable pleasant helpful and the wine list is always excellent. Lunches shows the inventiveness of the chefs .and the imagination and expertise that makes you want to come back. You never leave hungry but you may occasionally leave stuffed."

  • "We particularly liked the appetizers. I've had calamari and steak tartare many times but they stand out as excellent here. The mushroom tartine was also delicious. As for main courses, the rib eye was especially tasty."

  • "Great atmosphere, but for the price, food was average at best."

  • "I was pleasantly surprised by some of the vintages...a 2006 Rioja for $55 that was very good. The best was the Shrimp with Risotto. The entree's were not as hot as they should have been...might have sat a few minutes too long on the warming tray."

  • "This was our first time at 2941, and we were celebrating my son's birthday. We had a coupon that entitled us to two small plates, two appetizers, and four entrees within a certain price range. We bought an extra small plate, two desserts, and wine, and still paid close to $200 (with the coupon.) The food was all delicious and nicely presented, but not something the average person could afford outside of very special occasions."

  • "I took my wife here as I had heard great things....they all were true. Overall every dish we ordered was meticulously prepared and worth every penny. Their staff was very knowledgeable regarding wine pairings and very timely in their want to make our evening special. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion or even a business dinner."

  • "What surprised me the most is that they not only imposed 20% tip/service fee but also TAX the tip. Please be aware!"

  • "I had some clients in from out of town who I felt would appreciate the food and ambiance. It took 45 minutes for our table to be ready. The restaurant did comp our drinks at the bar, nonetheless, but the service was not right. It also took some time for the waiter to come over and even longer the sommalier to appear. And, this was late - the restaurant was emptying out. A noticeable service failure. I had duck which was bland, the skin not crisp and the meat was mushy. Just ok. The Caesar salad was fine and we enjoyed the dessert. At the bar, we had the calamari. Sauces were tasty, but the calamari was stuck together - greasy. So, for the money, it will be awhile before I go back."

  • "Husband chose this for my 30th birthday because I'm pregnant and based on their noted pastry chef and we were not disappointed Would have gotten tasting menu, but too much of the "bad fish" that pregnant people shouldn't have. Fried calamari was very delicately breaded and mushroom tartine was amazing. Salads were pretty good, but least strong course (he got the one w/ caramlized popcorn, which is good if you like mustard; I had beet salad, which was not memorable but not bad). He got the Roasted Lamb Loin and I had the Rib Eye. Both exceptional, but the Rib Eye was definitely the best. The gnocchi w/ the lamb was just okay and I wasn't a fan of the beans with the steak. The tangerine pavlova was stellar and I highly recommend it."

  • "Our experience at the restaurant was 5 star. However, a few days later, I discovered me 1 dollar more than I authorized via my credit card. I've experienced this sort of thing with lesser establishments in the past. My response is to not patronize or recommend the establishment instead of taking my precious time to write the wrong for such a paltry sum."

  • "I've been a long time fan and frequent client of 2941, and have previously written glowing reviews of this restaurant. It is for that reason that I am saddened to submit the following comments. As noted in the title of this review, I have visited 2941 for the last time and will look back on my experiences there with great fondness for what it once was and huge regret over what it has now become. My experience at 2941 last Thursday evening was bad on every level. What once was a high-end, exclusive, intimate and fine dining experience has now become a loud, sports-bar-esque, children running in the aisles, unbelievably poor service, mediocre food, disappointment. One of the DC areas few remaining great restaurants is gone."

  • "Pricing at 2941 is the only thing that would keep me from dining here regularly. Food and service were fantastic...we had another couple join us and our experiences combined were nothing short of spectacular."

  • "I found out about this spot when searching for new restaurants in Fairfax. It's off of the road in a business area so I would never have come across it on my own, but was happy I decided to come here. The food is really top notch. I loved everything I ate. The service was great. Our server turned our meal into a 3 course meal. Each course got better and better. They have beautiful views of water features that they built in and around the location. Complimentary valet to get your romantic night started. The interior is very beautiful and we didn't find it difficult to have a conversation. For us, this is a special occasion type place but I might have to start making up special occasions to come. Great food in a great place."

  • "The ambience was great and colorful even though the location is a bit out of the ordinary (business bldg). The service was polite. It is definitely upscale and good for business dining or a special occasion, but we're grateful for the Travel Zoo deal that allowed us to go there for a much more reasonable price. I would recommend this restaurant in the future."

  • "We had not been back to 2941 since it had its make-over and new chef. The place remains beautiful, but we though it more attractive in its prior iteration. Food was very good, particularly the boneless rib-eye. We enjoyed our meal on a "special" all in one voucher. Menu has some interesting (if not odd) choices. Prices are quite steep. Wine list is extensive and does offer some tasty reasonably priced bottles. Very enjoyable evening."

  • "Food at 2941 is always stellar! Unfortunately, the service was quite slow on this visit. Just seemed as though they were understaffed.... very pleasant... just slower than usual.... will always return to 2941..."

  • "Consistently good food and portions throughout. (Left feeling fed but not stuffed.) Very nice ambience. Wine list could use a little more selection variety, but found something nice to drink."

  • "A little noisy inside due to the high ceiling and the related acoustics but overall all a great dining experience."

  • "Overall, this is a pretty good restaurant. We did the Tasting Menu with wine pairings. The food was really good (especially the Sea Bass and Lamb w/Gnocchi). The sommelier was very knowledgable and offered some interesting stories about some of the vineyards. We will be visiting this restaurant again in the future. The overall decor of the restaurant is nice, but will probably seem awkward to others. The gigantic geode in the corner is really beautiful."

  • "My boyfriend and I took advantage of a meal deal via the internet to try 2941 for the first time. I have been meaning to go to 2941 for years, but was never able to follow through. The restaurant is definitely on the more expensive end, so we were very happy to find the deal for two for dinner. The restaurant sits directly on the water and has dramatic high ceilings. The staff were very courteous and friendly. It would be perfect for a special occasion or romantic dinner. So glad we were finally able to go. The chef gave us complimentary pastries at the end of the meal that were, for lack of a better description, hot donuts with a lemon glaze. Amazing and dangerous, because I could have probably eaten 10 of them. Highly recommend!"

  • "The evening was just delightful. Our service was measured, the server was attentive but not hovering. He was straightforward with the menu around what was available and what wan't. The small plates are great to get a few of them - order a couple, add a salad, and you have a tasting meal. Speaking of tasting menus - there is a chef's tasting menu, which you can pair with the wines selected for a very reasonable price - fantastic meal! I would definitely recommend 2941 to my friends and family."

  • "Driving up, it looks like an office park, but 2941 is a little oasis with great food. We intend to come back in the summer when it will still be light enough outside to enjoy the beautiful grounds at dinner. My now-fiance and I came to celebrate our engagement, and we had great meal in this beautiful restaurant. We shared the calamari (very nice) and the tuna tartare (don't miss it!). He had the venison and seemed to like it; I had the steamed sea bass (delicious). The house surprised us with a tasty little dessert on a plate decorated with a chocolate "Congratulations!" message. In fact, most of the tables around us seemed to be celebrating a birthday or some other special occasion. This is the perfect place for it!"

  • "Not worth the money, they need to revamp their dishes or chefs as we had to return one of the main dishes - it was not cooked right and did not taste fresh. It was horrible! Had to push to replace the meal, they did not even offer that suggestion. Hence why service was lacking. I got the Rib eye steak and that wasn't even dry aged steak. For that kind of money, dry-aged steak is the bare minimal. Steak tasted like it was from safeway. After ordering 2 valentines dinner, 1 drink and 2 coffee the bill came out to be 280 after tip. Not worth it. My fiancee and I are not sure if we want to have our reception there anymore. Yes it is beautiful but people will always remember the food the most. I have a more detailed review on yelp."

  • "Great food. Small portions.A dinner for three will cost at least $300. Cheapest bottle of wine is $90. The wait staff wear whatever they woke up in and the wine assistant knows only what's written on the bottle. The waterfalls outside and statuary and coi pond are beautiful. Forget reservations, even if you make one they will call to confirm it but they do not exist. The dinning is industrial motif If you want to order the $85 price fix menu everyone at the table must order it. There is a separate $45.00 wine tasting fee in addition to the $85.Overall, they need to improve their staffs presentation, and customer service to warrant the price tag. Not recommended for special occasions, better for small business lunch. No soap in bathrooms."
