2941 RestaurantAwesome chef's menu and wineAwesome chef's menu and wine pairing. very attentive and knowledgeable waiter and sommelier. Special dessert surprise for our anneversary!5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful and DeliciousThis is a beautiful restaurant...with all the glass, you feel like you are at a woodlands retreat--a very elegant one. The bar drinks are special and tasty. The dinner menu is outstanding. The four of us were delighted with every sight, sip and morsel. Our server, Brian, was attentive and fun. The dessert came with the Happy Anniversary decoration I requested when I called the afternoon before. The whole dining experience was special. 2941 is a gem!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMTasting menu a must!My husband and I dined at 2941 for his birthday and we both had the tasting menu with wine pairing. Fantastic!! It was absolutely delicious. We enjoyed every bite.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was as it shouldEverything was as it should have been. Great food, service, and environment.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic restaurant!!!This restaurant is an 11 out of 10. My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here, and I was more than impressed. A lot of restaurants claim to have world-class chefs, food, service, etc...but I've yet to experience one that actually lives up to those claims, until 2941.
Our waiter, Michael, was as professional as can be and he even brought us a chocolate mousse brownie dessert with "Happy Anniversary" written in fudge sauce on the side.
Everything, from beginning to end, was incredible. For being located near the intersection of I-495 and US-50, the atmosphere is very peaceful. I'd highly, highly recommend this restaurant.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional foodEspecially the tasting menu--best restaurant we have been to in DC/NOVA5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMJason was great! Our server Jason provided excellent service and attended to our needs making our visit quite pleasant and memorable!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Mother's DayHad a wonderful Mother's Day experience at 2941 - the wait staff was superb, the food excellent and the entire experience was one to be remembered.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful and FriendlyWe had a table by the window which on a gorgeous spring day is really something special. Waiting for our table (we were early) we had a drink at the bar with a wonderful bartender and a couple of fabulous cocktails. Our waiter was efficient, well versed and friendly. The cod tempura appetizer was great as was the duck ravioli and the rib eye...the risotto, though, was not up to par...but it was Mother's Day with a full house, so a real challenge for the kitchen. Notwithstanding the risotto, dining here was a super experience....And to my surprise there was a lovely gift from the restaurant to each mother...a really nice ending to a lovely meal.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent All Around!Everything was perfect - the host staff, the wait staff, the bus staff, the food, the wine...everything was excellent all around!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place to have dinnerExceptional food, outstanding service, nice atmosphere and gorgeous view5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is one of the best restaurantsThis is one of the best restaurants in the area. The food and service were outstanding as was the wine. Our waiter was friendly to a fault. I had the best veal loin I have ever eaten and my wife the smoked duck which could not stop raving about.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMService is a bit slow sometimes.Service is a bit slow sometimes. But more importantly, the front desk doesn't recognize regular/returning customers! Maybe they can get lessons from some the top restaurants in the area.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMinnovative but not pretentiousWe enjoyed the overall experience. Attentive staff and excellent waiter. Our order was delayed and my pork was slightly overcooked- this was remedied but there was an additional wait. The food was delicious - the duck ravioli was quite good, but a little thin on the duck. The frisee was especially good, and some of the best asparagus I've ever tasted. The lemon dessert with madelines had great balance and flavour and was perfect choice afterwards. We had no wine. We will be back.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAcross-the-board, a top restaurantWhile not culinary geniuses, these chefs have mastered their craft. The oysters were superb. The hand-made penne was scrumptious, with an exceptional sauce, dotted with cooked-yet-crunchy pancetta and peas. The duck was not greasy, the skin perfectly crisp, while the beef was well-textured, not fatty yet tender, and fully flavored. The saucier knows how to make a sauce, with a light yet rich classic bearnaise, lightly redolent of tarragon, as well as a wine reduction for the beef. The rich, winy, duck jus was mouth-watering too. The shared dessert,a chocolate hazelnut log--just plain yummy and very, very rich. The server knew his stuff and recommended perfect wines. One criticism: The hosts seem inexperienced.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a large group and 2941We had a large group and 2941 handled it very well. This is a great place to enjoy a delicious dinner in relaxing surroundings.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AM2941 - elegant & deliciousThe roast duck was superb and the side of potatoes sinful, but delicious. This restaurant has it all! Our server, Borkos, was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Watch for the lagniappe at meal's end. We were delighted by a special cake honoring our 7th wedding anniversary and then came two delicious beignets! (We were wafted back to the Cafe du Monde in New Orleans.)
Enjoy!4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMSuprisingly InconsistantHaving eaten in 2941 multiple times, the family and I were surprised about inconsistency and a couple of unspectacular dishes. The swordfish was bland. The orzo had little flavor. On the bright side, the duck entree and duck ravioli, and mushroom appetizers were excellent. Service great as usual too. We'll be back, but with a bit more skepticism. One mediocre meal is not a big deal.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyable EveningHaving this was our first time, I will say that it won't be our last. The menu provided a lot of choices for different interests despite the limited selection. It truly focused on the food and service worthy of a 5-star restaurant. The surrounding is excellent, but the parking (self park) is a bit confusing and a walk through an office building taking the elevator down. While we are not wine drinkers, I can tell you the wine list is vast. I see it as a great place for dining where pairing wine with food as the activity. The décor is contemporary with an air of elegance absent pretention. Good service, but the staff needs to smile more as they were too serious. Very enjoyable and a bit pricey, but it is money well spent.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMClimbing UpWe've been to 2941 three times this calendar year - it has improved on each occasion. Food and service were exceptional - as was the wine advice.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and service and ambienceNothing to complain about really... .great service, food and ambience. The menu selection was god although some unfamiliar goers may expect a broader selection so they should be aware. Wine was excellent. A complimentary desert with birthday wishes was nice! Other desserts were great as well. My son says have Mango Ice Cream!
The coy pond/entry was nice. The interior design was nice4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat As Ever2941 was our favorite restaurant in the area. Then they did the refresh at the beginning of 2012, the menu changed, and we were reluctant to go back. We wanted a tasting menu -- not another casual place. We finally went -- and it seems like they have morphed back to the way it was before, without the tablecloths. Our meal was outstanding. Strangely, there was no amuse, and the bread was not all it was before. But after that it was sensational -- the halibut, the smoked venison, and the lime dessert were standouts. Service was elegant. At $85, this was the best five-course tasting we have had in 2013, anywhere. The dining room continues to be the best in the area. And the kitchen can compete and beat any kitchen downtown.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMYou can't go wrong choosingYou can't go wrong choosing any item on the menu. Always fresh, always delicious, and the presentation is always superb. If you like Carrot Cake, you will absolutely LOVE the C3 dessert.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMI was on a tight scheduleI was on a tight schedule at lunch and the service was exceptional. I was shocked to actually be walking out the door and back to the office on time. The rockfish salad was awesome!4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMI asked the owner of a Tosca,I asked the owner of a Tosca, my favorite restaurant in Washington DC if he could recommend a good restaurant in N.VA. Without hesitation he said: 2941. I have dined there 3 or 4 times and have not been disappointed. The food is very well prepared and served with just enough attention to detail to communicate that you are a welcomed guest. N. Hart Nibbrig, Ph.D. Arlington, VA...4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful view, quiet. IBeautiful view, quiet. I could actually hear the conversation at my table. Didn't have to yell to be heard.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was just perfectEverything was just perfect -- food, service, and ambiance. We were celebrating a special occassion, but if you just want to have a great dinner in a nice restaurant (where you can come as you are, no need to dress up) this is the place to go.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food and ambianceAmazing food and ambiance with exceptional service make this one of my favorite places to go out to eat!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experienceCame here to celebrate a birthday. Very nice place in the lobby level of the GD Bldg. Free valet. The restaurant itself is a big open space like a hall with 2 priv dining rooms and a bar. B/c of the occasion, they gave us a nice two top by the window. Overall, decent ambiance. Server was friendly, mature and courteous. Unlike other places, there was no snobby attitude. The genuine customer service theme was visible here at all levels from the manager down. It made for a really enjoyable evening. The small plates and apps came out very quickly; faster than I've ever experienced but there was a bit of a wait for the entrees. Would have given 5 stars but our free dessert came to us after we ordered two others and was too much food.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AM2941 is one of my favorite2941 is one of my favorite restaurants in Northern Virginia for fine dining and special occasions. Food and service are both excellent, rivaling many of DC's top restaurants. The view is also very nice through the huge glass walls.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMA Gem in Gourmet Dining!!!!Excellent service from entry to departure! Cold carrot soup was exquisite! Lunch entree was superbly prepared!! Desert was to "live" for!4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall, it was a very niceOverall, it was a very nice evening. Service was attentive without being disruptive. Waiter had very good suggestions and knew the menu well. Duck was really, really, really good as were the calamari. The off-menu dessert trio was very good.
The only complaint was a the ribeye - a little disappointing for the price. It was too thin and a bit overcooked, although the flavor was very good. We may all order the duck when we go back.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFood to rememberWhen I want exceptional food and service and a quiet, intimate atmosphere, 2941 always comes to mind. The food was exceptional - we had the tasting menu and each bite was exceptional from crab cakes to rock fish to a veggie dish that was light and delicious. Dessert consisted of three treats, each exquisitely prepared and beautifully served. The wine list was extensive and our server was knowledgable and sensitive to our timing.
The only mar on an otherwise perfect evening was the couple who brought their toddler and allowed her to cry and scream. If you can afford a fine restaurant, hire a sitter - if not for yourselves, for the other guests.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMI'd put 2941 up against theI'd put 2941 up against the best downtown restaurants: the cuisine is creative, elegant, and memorably delicious. Service is impeccable, and the beautifully appointed, cathedral ceilinged room has a splendid view over a small lake. Altogether a very special dining experience.
Standouts included a salmon small bite, handmade penne carbonara with fresh peas and pancetta, grilled swordfish ... and a tour de force chocolate hazelnut bar with malted milk ice cream.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food but priceyThe food ranged from excellent to good. The appetizers and desserts were inventive, but the entrees were standard for restaurants of this caliber, so not really noteworthy. The lamb was undercooked and the ribeye was overcooked per our specifications, so the kitchen was not as exacting as the servers who tended to our every need and made us feel welcomed and cared for. Given the prices and what I had heard from other foodie friends, I truly expected more from 2941. Glad we finally made it there, but I'd rather go to Trummers on Main (which I view as comparable to 2941).3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food and the dessertsAmazing food and the desserts were gorgeous and delicious!! excellent service! Would definitely go back!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMA great restaurant. The scenic views are superb. Our server was outstanding. The food was delicious -- all the flavors blended together excellently. The zucchini blossom appetizer was so good, it is beyond description. Everything else that followed was expertly prepared and beautifully presented.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGood as alwaysFor at least the third time , we've spent Easter at 2941. Instead of our normal dinner reservation, we decided to opt for lunch. The dining area was relatively quiet and it seemed as if diners were dispersed throughout. This made our table area cozier. The fixed price menu was so interesting and varied that we had a hard time making our selections. The service and quality of the food was up to our expectations and we look forward to our next occasion at 2941.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMSteak was a little tough andSteak was a little tough and was disappointed to not have lamb on Easter, also ended up in garage which was hard to get back to in the rain, but otherwise wonderful.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a Great ChoiceWe have been 2941 patrons since its opening in 2002. We return because it is a consistently good restaurant in terms of food & wine, service, and ambiance. Despite its change in "philosophy" (and decor) about a year ago, 2941 remains one of our favorites and we recommend it without hesitation.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Place, a bit hard to findMy wife and I went on a Sat night for dinner and we had a great meal / wine / time. The sommelier @ 2941 is excellent, he helped us to pick out a bottle of white Spanish wine that paired nicely with our meal. We had the following dishes:
- App: Calamari
- This is a very nice preparation of calamari, with a light breading, flavorful squid and good dipping sauces.
- Smalls: Tuna Tartare
- This is served on-top of guacamole and this flavor profile is great. The addition of the jalapeño and fried shallots put this dish over the top.
- Mains: Swordfish and Duck
- Both of the mains were tasty, the Duck was smoked and that really added a smokiness
Forget that this is Falls Church, go and enjoy yourself.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food with a niceVery good food with a nice variety of small plates and main dishes. The desserts are incredible, especially the "carrot cake," which is really something altogether different than what one usually thinks of as carrot cake.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMDining not just eating outFirst time dining since the make-over and it remains wonderful. The Zucchini fritters were outstanding. I had had them as a bar snack at a happy hour and was still thinking of them weeks later so ordered them before dinner. The waiter selected a wonderful rose to go with my salmon. I would not have thought of that pairing but it worked very well and the salmon was superb as well as imaginative, a rare combination. The room is lovely, the view magical and the service expert. We rarely go out to eat as I like to cook, but this evening reminded me why going out can be such a lovely experience.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMSo good you have to talk about itThe food was unbelievably delicious. We found ourselves discussing the food after every bite because the flavors were so unique. They also brought us a complimentary dessert for our birthday guest. And then an additional dessert found its way to our table, also compliments of the chef. This was after we had ordered one dessert already. They were ALL incredible. We left full and happy!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe perfect restaurant. BeforeThe perfect restaurant. Before you even walk in the door, you are surrounded by pools of water and the relaxing sound of water falls. The Tasting Menu with wine pairings is the way to go. You will not be disappointed. Delicious food. Each dish presented like a work of art. Sit back, relax and let yourself be taken care of. We will definitely be back again.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMLove 2941!We love the changes made at 2941. It is even better than before. Fantastic food, amazing service & the interior / views of ponds & lakes are simply gorgeous.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful spot for a specialWonderful spot for a special occasion. Particularly enjoyed the wine pairings with our food. Waiter and sommelier were very informative and not pretentious.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMfood was pretty good but porkfood was pretty good but pork chop was disappointing and the brussel sprout chips were terrible...i would change the menu for this on3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a beautiful locationWhat a beautiful location and the food and service was wonderful too. The small plates are a very nice portion size as well as the appetizers. We both had pasta dishes and every last drop was wonderful.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWOW, the sauce was yummy! The food was really over the top wonderful! Loved the taste and presentation. I had pork chop with brussel sprouts and the sauce was out of this world, the pork tender/juicy. My dinner companion had juicy, moist and hot swordfish, cooked to perfection. We also liked the beet salad, yummy! The dessert was OK, presentation was nice, half a tangerine stuffed with homemade sherbet and a scoop of ice-cream with a blondie crushed on it, I think it was called "dreamsicle". A bit bland. Would pass on it next time and pick another dessert. So many great desserts to chose from! You cannot go wrong eating at 2941! Have been going there for years. Staff is also great.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AM
