Was our favorite local restaurant but were disappointed in our recent visit. Both food and service were very uneven. Some things were good but some really weren't and for the price I expect a lot more. Hoping it was just a glitch that evening!

We went on a Friday evening and decided to go with the Chef's tasting menu with the wine pairings. We had done this before and enjoyed it so much that we wanted to try it again -- we made the right choice. All of the dishes in the five course tasting menu were delicious and the presentations were perfect. The sommeliers were professional and very knowledgeable. Our server, Julio, was friendly, attentive and explained the dishes very well. It was another wonderful evening at one of our favorite restaurants in DC. We will go back at the first opportunity.

Did not meet expectations based onmy prior 10 or so visits over last 4 or so years. Will not choose for a special occasion unless can reestablish quality. Lukewarm and pasty tasting mushroom soup, even after asking for it to be heated. Bread, swordfish, soup just so so. Tuna tartare the bright spot of our choices. Beautiful view and dining room, but worth $78 plus tip for lunch?

  • 3rd time was not the charm

This was the 3rd time I've been here and each time we tried the tasting menu. I can't say more about how good it was the first two times but this time was completely lacking. It was so lame they even lowered the price clearly showing they knew it would come up short. It had fish, ravioli and duck. No beef, bison or venison of any kind. I will still go again hoping to experience the tremendous tastes of the first two visits and forget about this one. Of note, for a foodie joint and relatively "fancy" restaurant, they should fire their Sommelier for one of the lamest wine lists I've ever seen.

  • Great place but the OT description is misleading

    Dined on 11/8/2014
This place was great! The open table description was a little misleading. The entrees rather than being in the under 30 range are solidly 30-40. The attire is described as smart casual, but when we showed up in nice jeans, we were the only people not in a suit or a dress. But the food was exceptional. Almost everything we ordered was amazing. And if I could give the service more than 5 stars, I would. They were so attentive and helpful.

We had a wonderful lunch. Our server, Brian, was very accommodating and was not overly attentive, just perfect. He allowed us to take our time as our group had a lot of catching up to do. I also appreciated the lighted tart at the end of our meal to acknowledge the retirement of our guest of honor. Further, the donut holes (??) were an added appreciated touch offered by 2941. Overall, we all had a delightful lunch and found it hard to leave such a lovely atmosphere. Thank you for the expert service and fine food.

Second time at 2941. We did the tasting menu both times and we strongly recommend it. The menu this time was completely different because they change it every week or so. Both times the food was something unique, delicious and something to experience. The portions are just the right size. The place is fairly noisy so this is not a quiet romantic restaurant but it is a great date place.

I have been here before and like the previous times the food and atmosphere was great. The hostess was courteous and friendly. We were a little early, yet our table was ready for us in a very nice and romantic spot in front of the fireplace. Unfortunately, our waiters must have been having a bad day or just tired from a long shift. (Because, I have been here before and have experienced their usual superb service, I am not going to mark them down on my overall rating). My girlfriend and I just laughed off the service experience, because the rest of the evening was excellent. Make sure that you get there a little early, so you can walk around the small water/landscape area.

Service was attentive but not obtrusive. The food was excellent and the presentation was all about the food. It was easy to carry on a conversation and the conversation at other tables could not be heard. The lighting is bright enough to actually see so if one is looking for a dark, romantic hideaway, this isn't it. That doesn't mean it can't be romantic. It depends on your definition. The Chocolate Bostick is amazing!!

I am biased in my love for 2941 because it was the location of our beautiful wedding reception in 2013; but I love everything about this place. The food is always excellent, the service is friendly and attentive. The ambiance is modern and elegant, but somehow also warm and inviting. My wife is gluten-free, and there is always plenty for her to choose from their seasonal menu selections - and their wine list is great. They were very helpful in our wedding planning, if you ever need them for a special event - including a generous menu tasting for clients. The setting is very urban, but beautifully landscaped - a little oasis in the city! Can't say enough.

This spot has become our anniversary destination. 3 years, 3 visits. We always get the Chef's Tasting Menu with the wine pairings. It's always an adventure, there's usually at least one thing I wouldn't order otherwise. For example, I HATE sushi but our recent visit starred off with a sashimi dish. It was mind blowing! You're going to pay a lot for this experience, ($300 + tip) but the amazing food and awesome staff make it worth EVERY PENNY!

Another outstanding meal at 2941. If you have never dined here - you should. It won't be the last time you do so! The food is so creative and very good. Service is always outstanding (the staff actually seems to enjoy working together). The little waterfalls, fountains, and fish are a nice touch on the grounds - as is valet parking. We usually dine here on date nights; this last visit we brought our 10 year old. He loved it. Nice that the menu has interesting appetizers and that you can order the pasta dishes as 1/2 sized portions. A bit off the beaten path, but well worth it to find this great gem. The pastry chef here, Caitlin Dysart, just won the RAMMY for Pastry Chef of the year, and you can see why. Amazing.

After being out of the country for 2 years we were excited to return to one of our favorite spots. 2941 is much less "fine dining" now and more bistro-esque. There were many diners in t-shirts and jeans. While this was not really a put off in any way, it made the ambiance much more casual. The wait staff were also more laid back than our last visit with a very hurried service more typical of an Applebees. Our apps arrived literally less than 2 minutes from our order and we seemed rushed to move dinner along. The food was still mostly great, though their were 1-2 uninspired and overpriced dishes. The wine list too has been drastically reduced. Still a decent night out, but the price for what you get was mismatched with the more casual feel.

There is no resturant that is as impressive as this and I would definiately recommend it to all my friends and family.

This is a hidden gem. On the General Dynamics "campus", it is invisible from the street. Be sure to take the proper entrance (not the deliveries entrance.). The grounds are spectacular--worth arriving 5 minutes early to take a look at the waterfalls and koi pond.
