29 NewburyVery enjoyable meal but quietMy wife and I had a very good meal at 29 Newbury on a Saturday evening. Excellent fried calamari and then Shellfish en Brodo (like a bouillabaisse) which was delicious. The restaurant was quiet which surprised me given the quality of the food. It was warm, and we opted to sit in the sidewalk patio area. The place was dated in terms of decor and furniture, and even the menu looked dingy, but the food options looked intriguing so we gave it a try. I had the sesame encrusted salmon, which was served with ginger snap peas and was DIVINE. My husband hand the spicy rice and bean bowl with chicken, which was also excellent. The portions were moderate -- we would have needed a shared appetizer and dessert to be "full". But we were looking for a light meal, so it was perfect. Outside seating for brunch is perfect and the traffic noise is minimal. The area of town is very charming and a perfect setting to enjoy outdoor dining and then go for a stroll.
