Diner Reviews
  • "Our reservation was for a 10 am Sunday brunch. When we arrived, we were told the food was not ready yet. We were seated and given mimosas and COLD coffee. After about 15 mins, the food was ready and we were shown into a dark room with serving dishes on tables. There were still no serving utensils out so we decided to have an omelette made for us. The cook actually picked up the tip jar and told us that's what it was in case we were interested. The service was non existent, there was more staff than customers but they were all standing around talking to one another. We paid $38/person for an omelette, and cold coffee. Not worth it, and not what I was expecting for a restaurant associated with a Westin hotel."

  • "Good food. Acceptable for a business meeting. Good service."

  • "The veggie burger was a pile of mush, no real texture like a normal veggie burger has. The risotto appetizer was really just two small, overpriced tater tots."

  • "The restaurant had a great ambience. The food was delicious and the service was very good. The Manchester United team was staying there for the evening which added some excitement to the experience."

  • "Went to the restaurant after a Tigers game and it was a nice day and very good dinner too! The Staff was attentive and the food was quite good too!"

  • "There were two of us in the group and we ordered an appetizer and two salads. After ordering, the food took 45 mins to arrive. The waitress was apologetic and she comp't us dessert for the long wait. I've been to 24 grille many times before, but it seems to be slipping in the service area. Good was great as usual, love the Mac & cheese."

  • "Took my mom and Godmom to the brunch and it was simply ok. It was hard to find my waitress for refills on my mimosas and water and even harder to find her when I wanted to pay my bill. While walking through the buffet, I had to find someone to advise what certain items were as nothing was labeled, but the food did taste amazing. I will be back for regular dining but the buffet brunch is simply not worth it in my opinion."

  • "My wife and I went to 24grille and it was about 30% full. We had reservations and were seated immediately. The waiter came to get our drink order but didn't bring the drink menu (which isn't a big deal). It took him 15 minutes to come back with it. Once he dropped it off, he disappeared for another 10 minutes. My wife had to ask the bus boy to have him come back. I was ready to leave at this point. Once he came back for our drink order, I ordered the porter and he asked me if I've ever had a porter before. I thought that was a weird question to ask someone. After that, he probably got the hint and was more attentive. Still, the damage was done. The food was good, but nothing special. Definitely not worth the $125 bill."

  • "I visit Detroit once every few months and stay at the Westin Book Cadillac. We always eat at least one meal at the 24Grille during the week that we're in town. The food is really good, the service is excellent, and they have always accommodated us if we have large groups in town (we bring people from Germany, Switzerland, and/or China with us). I will continue to dine at 24Grille whenever I am in town not just because of the convenience of being in the hotel but also because the food is good."

  • "The order we put in was not done right and our server was cognizant of this right away and made sure to fix it as well as provide a free drink. Our entire dinner lasted 2 hours due to this but the food was excellent."

  • "Food was great as always the table next to us was pretty noisy and annoying but we still managed to have a good time. The only complaint is the 3 times I've been my waiters have been slow bringing are mimosas or just checking on my table period"

  • "Overall a good place to eat, I feel the wait staff is kind of young which makes for somewhat mediocre customer service - have to tell server more then once to bring place setting, that's kind of a given, one of my guest was perturbed to have our food placed in front on us but still was waiting for utensils. I feel The hostess needs to be responsible for if it's too much for the server, but the one thing that would have pleased me more would be to have CALAMARI as an appetizer option :)"

  • "I live for Sunday Funday, boozy brunch. I was pleased with this spot. Great location, good food, and 2hrs mimosa. The Omlete and catfish was delish and our server was awesome. However, the mimosa had no champaign at all, after 4 glasses we had to conclude it was just OJ although we were told otherwise. Please work on the ration of juice to champaign otherwise there is no Funday- just Sunday Brunch."

  • "I went to 24 Grill for brunch twice in the coarse of a month. The first time I went with 6 friends and the food was delicious, fresh, and the resturaunt offered some unique selections like creamy cheese grits with jumbo shrimp and real crab meet for omlettes. This past Sunday my husband and I went and it was very average. The fruit didn't have a good selection, the desserts were lacking, the turkey sausage was drowning in water, and there weren't any grits. Overall, I like 24 Grill and would recommend it for brunch and dinner."

  • "Made a reservation for dinner. We were seated quickly but waited 30 minutes to get our wine. Appetizer did not come for another 15 minutes. The entree was not delivered until we spoke to the manager an hour and 15 minutes after our arrival. Food was good but service was deplorable. Never going back!!!!"

  • "I went to 24 grille for brunch. The food was good and so were the unlimited mimosas. Service was terrible. My reservation was at 1 and I wasnt seated until 1:45. The hostess forgot about me and my guests at the bar so I informed a manager and it still took forever. Not sure if I'll be going back but I would recommend to friends with a warning of course."

  • "This place needs help and better management. Great location, but the menu is very limited. No manager on site to refill the syrup in the coke machine, the staff had to apologize because they didn't know how to do it. No regular napkins, so we got a stack of cocktail napkins. We didnt' get silverware right away because they were still washing some. The tables are jammed so close together, one guy behind me sounded like he was yelling in my ear and my son reached back to slightly stretch and hit the lady behind him because we were stuck so close to each other. We won't be back and we go to a ton of restaurants on a weekly basis all over the Detroit area...too bad because the location is great."

  • "Service really slow. Waiter was slow. Didn't give us utensils, straws or anything. Told him we were in a rush because we needed to be some place else soon. Food was bland and overpriced. Nice place and very trendy but not worth the cash at all. "

  • "I have been to 24 Grille many times, and most times, I have had a great experiences. The food is good, unique and delicious. This past experience was not great. I went with a group of 4 and we went before a show we were seeing downtown and kind of on a time crunch. I am not sure what happened but it took us 30 minutes to even get drinks, and over an hour before our food came. Not until we got the manager, did they bring our food, which was cold. The manager did comp a large portion of our bill, but we were late for the show and left a little unhappy. Again, could have been an off night, but was disappointing."

  • "The food was subpar. My starter salad was missing ingredients. We were not offered pepper until we asked for it. Entree was ok - nothing to write home about. Mine needed salt and there was none on the table and server was no where to be found. The service not that great. We waited over 20 mintues for our dessert to come out. The table next to us left after sitting for over 40 minutes without recieving a starter or salad. The managers response was, "ok i'll go get your drink bill and figure something out." Instead of taking care of the clients 2 beers and apologizing. The service over all was not very professional and not very good. I probably would not go back because i didnt find it worth my money. "

  • "Wow - restaurant week - I chose the Caesar salad / Petit fillet mignon / apple dessert. The fillet was the stand out with so much flavor & well prepared."

  • "I am very surprised that everything we ate could be so tasteless. Of the many Detroit Restaurant Weeks we attended over the years, I can't recall eating such bland and uninspiring food ever. It must take some doing to make food that tasteless?"

  • "The service was great and the food was awesome! It was very loud - I imagine that is due to the large crowd as a result of the event. It was also kind of cramped. I am not sure if they put in extra tables to accomodate more diners. This was my first time visiting this restaurant. Outside of the noise and tight space, I would definitely go here again. "

  • "We had never been to Grill24, and tried it during restaurant week. We had an awesome meal and wonderful service. Wine selection great to! We can't wait to go back and try the full menu. "

  • "Went on restaurant week. Food was OK, not great for the price. Salad came to the table before our appetizer and had to ask for it. The salad, main course and dessert items were wrong. First time I go to a restaurant and all items brought were wrong. Once check came in, noticed the waiter had our bill wrong. That explains it. Glad there were only a few items on the menu. Our waiter told us he was having a meltdown, and apologized for leaving us waiting for 30 min to bring us the dessert after picking up the main course plates. The restaurant was almost empty when we finish our dinner so it was not that it was super busy at the time. Not impressed, not planning to go back any time soon."

  • "Unfortunately, it felt as if 24Grille put limited thought into providing tasty food selections for Restaurant Week. Shrimp appetizer was just shrimp cocktail in a glass, Caesar salad was ok but pasta meal was terrible. Then the apple tart was warmed apples with a scoop of ice cream and a cannoli shell next to it. Also, the servicer was nice but really slow. I was extremely disappointed and have no plans to return. "

  • "One person in our group was not thrilled with her pasta. 4 of us had steak & chicken & were all very pleased! The food was delicious! Our server was nice, friendly, and seemed on top of things. However, one of the apps was not brought until the entrees arrived. He got our dessert order wrong (4 of one type, 1 of the other but brought 4 of the wrong one). He let us keep the errors so most of us then enjoyed two desserts. One last complaint...we were there for restaurant week. The menu on-line specifically stated "First course (2 apps to choose from) AND (3 salads/soups to choose from). However, when we arrived, the menu stated "additional apps $8" but the server stated all apps were $8. Our bill definitely reflected the 3, $8 apps."

  • "I can't say anything bad about this place. The food was good, the service was wonderful and the atmosphere was great. It's a little on the higher price for us but we went out for our anniversary so it didn't matter. "

  • "This was our second time trying 24 Grille. After our first experience I was a little hesitant, but figured it could not be as bad as before. I was proved wrong. The waitressed came over to introduce as my boyfriend was calling his parents to find out where they were at. We then place our order, not noticing that the appetizers we an extra $8.00, in which it stated that on the menu, we just missed it. The waitress told us about that after we all ordered appetizers. Then my boyfriend and myself never got our appetizers, we had to ask for them. The filet said it came with zip sauce, never came, had to ask again. Then it was dessert time, our apple tart was suppose to come with ice cream, instead it came with a side of whipped cream. "

  • "My only complaint is the atmosphere, the food and drinks are very good. The tables are too close together so you feel like you are dining with the whole restaurant, which isn't necessarily a bad thing when you're with a group but not the best when you want a little privacy and romance. Though fancy, there is no pressure to treat this place like a library which makes it awesome for groups. Acoustics are pretty good so everyone can usually hear each other. The menu is diverse enough that everyone can find something that appeals to them except vegetarians who don't have much choice unless there is a nice special. Additionally, the valet at the Book Cadillac continues to be terribly slow so if you can I highly suggest street parking. "

  • "I have visited this venue several times and was excited to come. I actually brought four friends, to join me. We waited over 20 mintues to be sat, we had a reservation and the restuarant was not busy. Because it was restaurant week, there was a limited menu, which one would think that the service and food would be expedited quickly. We did not receive our food until 9:50. The food was not great, no flavor. Dessert was even worse, it took another hour to get dessert and our bill. A night out, turned into an overdrawn, and overrated dining experience."
