247 CravenUnique Southern Menu ItemsI really enjoyed the small, quiet atmosphere of this place (there were only about 10 tables so make sure you get a reservation if you want to go). There weren't a lot of menu items but all of them were very unique. The housemade frites (french fries) and pork belly small plates were delicious. Others at our table got the scallops and said they might have been the best they've ever had.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMLucky FindBased on other reviews, we decided to give 247 Craven a try. What a treat for us. The scallops were truly the best we have ever had, and that is saying something having traveled extensively. Perfectly cooked and a generous portion, too. While there was a small problem with my salmon entree, the chef and owner immediately responded. They checked back periodically, which speaks to their commitment to service and quality. Strong, rich coffee and incredible strawberry cake combined to make a perfect ending to the evening. Without question, we will return the next time we are in New Bern. Added comments: great cocktails available, reasonable wine list, charming ambiance, attentive service and reasonable prices for such high quality.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperbThe pork belly lettuce wraps were incredible, in particular, but everything was excellent. Third time there-it just keeps getting better!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMOut standing - food was perfectOut standing - food was perfect - loved the chop, salmon as well, both great choices - service spot on. Cozy corner.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMRecommendation for 2-4-7 CravenFound this quaint spot in downtown New Bern. Wait staff was very friendly and courteous, our waiter accommodated us with a special request and went beyond with his service. 2-4-7 has daily specials and we tried their shrimp and grits which was excellent. Highly recommend for a quick and delicious meal.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AM247 Craven is excellentit was a great little spot for dinner. However, its such a tiny restaurant that it gets noisy and hard to hear the people you are with. I suggest that if you decide to go, make a reservation. If you dont like wine, they do have a full bar and make excellent cocktails. A definite must go if out and about in New Bern.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMI had the friend oysters,I had the friend oysters, which were very good. But because they were put on top of the corn relish, they got soggy quickly.
My spouse got the crepe with duck confit. We thought the confit would be a sauce rather than pieces of duck. The crepe was excellent, but the portion was tiny, possibly because of the expense of the duck. A larger portion crepe, alone, would make a nice vegetarian option.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and service are excellent.Food and service are excellent. The only negative is that as it is a small space when it is full the noise level is very high and it is hard to converse when you are dining with a group.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMHighly Recommended Adult RestaurantThe food, the service, and the location in the heart of downtown New Bern make this an excellent choice for an evening out. The menu is not extensive, but offers something for everyone. It's an adult restaurant, so let the kids stay home with a frozen pizza. The chef does amazing things with each dish. The care and attention paid to each dish makes for a wonderful dining experience.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was outstanding, as always.Food was outstanding, as always. New server was not up to speed. Slow and not very attentive. I'm sure he'll improve.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time here and we definitelyFirst time here and we definitely weren't disappointed. Everything served was great! We'll definitely go back!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AM247 has a menu for foodies.247 has a menu for foodies. Covers all the bases. Salads are great and desserts are a real homemade treat. Real whipped cream frosting on strawberry cake was remarkable.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMjuppeats3starWe went for Sunday brunch. Small venue, but nicely decorated. Bit cool since most tables right next to front door. Food was great and very ample portions (almost too much for some dishes). Two guests got breakfast, and 2 got lunch. The arugula salad was terrific, especially with the large number of decent sized shrimp that can come with it. Large stack of french toast was well done, and the bacon thick and tasty. Hamburger excellent, although came more medium well than medium rare. Grits side were best cheese grits my guest had had in a long time. Croque madame dish impressive, although the homemade chips overdone (too dark). All in all, a very nice brunch and well priced.12/16/2012 12:00:00 AM
