Wow...we had a party of 6 and
didn't have any complaints about anything. Wedge Salads, Caesar Salads, and Fried Oysters were great apps. Seared Tuna special was delicious and cooked perfectly. Pork Shoulder on Grits was so tender a knife was not necessary. Desserts made by the owner's grandmother were awesome."

We had a large party. We changed
our reservation, but the restaurant was still able to accommodate us and provided great services."

Our daughter came to visit so we
took her to 247 for some fine dining. My husband really enjoyed the hangar steak which was done to perfection along with a bone marrow. We also enjoyed the special striped sea bass and the grilled Caesar salad..yum. Also the service was excellent."

The food and service was
excellent. The only negative that I could find was the noise level was extremely loud. The crowd was older and I think they were having issues of hearing each other; therefore, they were talking rather loud. Overall, a good experience and would recommend everyone to try the restaurant 247 Craven."

We have dined at 247 Craven around
six times and never had a bad meal. I usually get some type of seafood and it is prepared to perfection. I love the oyster appetizer, which is usually on the menu. All the presentations are lovely. The menu is limited, but has only the food that is the freshest at that particular time of year. The wines are reasonable and good. I am a good cook and do not like to go to a mediocre restaurant just to eat out. I will keep coming back to this one. Be sure to make a reservation. There are not many tables."

We picked this venue based on
ArtWalk that night, the fact that it was open late, and we had wanted to try it. We were NOT disappointed. Our host helped us try out a great beer, wonderful dishes, and a melt in your mouth dessert. The portions were what portions should be, not the entire plate. The costs were a tad more then I would have paid for a normal dinner out, but this was an anniversary and the food was worth EVERY cent. The presentation of the meal was picture perfect and it was intimate enough of a setting to feel like you were by yourself! I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant for food, drinks, ambiance, and service!"

Had a lovely, quiet, romantic
Anniversary meal with an attentive, knowledgeable waitress. Both entrees, the Grouper special, and the Salmon, were done perfectly and the presentation was top-notch. Enjoyed the wine suggestions. We will be back!"

My wife and I had a wonderful
experience for lunch. We live in New Bern but recently went for the first time. We will be back. Service was first rate and so was the food. Compliments to the Chef!"

This, together with the wine
pairings, was wonderful for a special occasion."
Dined on 2/8/2014
The food is varied and very good.
It is, however, pricey, and we felt that the portions were rather small. In addition, some of the entrees lacked sufficient "sides"."

I have lived here for 6 years. I
have never ventured to the restaurant due to the fact that it is off the beaten path. Well I am so glad I made the effort. First, the people are so polite and considerate. Second the food is excellent and plentiful. Third, they know how to make an occassion special. Fourth, I can say nothing bad about them except I wish the place was larger. But, that would change the ambience of this little gem. So make reservations to be on the safe side."
Dined on 1/10/2014
The food was excellent. The menu
choices, however, were not totally to my taste. We were pleased that although the noise level was moderate, we could all hear each other and have a conversation! That doesn't happen in many restaurants. I liked that the room was small, and numbers of diners limited.....cozy. Did find out that we should ask for Table 14 so that we would not be placed again at the table for 4 near the kitchen. The only real glitch was that my fried green tomato appetizer was delivered incomplete....without the pesto and parmesan frico. That was corrected and it was delicious....the favorite part of my meal. The wine, Malbec Salentein, Argentina, was excellent."

We ended up here due to other
places being closed. Happy to go. Tables and chairs are kind of "basic" but otherwise, no complaints. Loved the seafood risotto."
Dined on 1/3/2014
This is not the place for a big
party. Its a storefront so when the door opens the cold comes in. We were seated in the center of the 20 x20 dining area. The staff was cool. The wine selection was odd but we found one. I'd like to see some Nc or Va wine more. The food was surprising and tasty although the short ribs do no go with black beans. Chicken and dumplings great surprise very good. The special puttanesca was well done. Deserts made by the grandmother were very good also. Cozy place to meet friends for dinner. But not more than 4 at a time."

The food here is simply
outstanding! Probably one of the best places for great food in the area. Only minor draw back is the location is a little small if you are bring a large group but otherwise this is a must visit place the next time I'm in town."

We have enjoyed 247 Craven on
other occasions and did so this time. We ate early in order to get first-come seating at the New Bern Convention Center for a NC Symphony holiday concert. The Convention Center is an easy walk to 247 so another plus to anyone eating there. My wife always enjoys ordering off the small plate menu and selects two small plates. I usually have their wedge salad and an entree. The wine list is extensive (at least for New Bern) and the evening's special was lamb. The four of us were all satisfied with our meals. With 3 small plates, an entree and 3 glasses of wine the bill was $84.00. Not cheap but not crazy expensive. On other times we have had very good martinis from the bar. Wait service is excellent."
Dined on 12/10/2013
The service was great and the
special, lamb chops with a pesto sauce, were wonderful. It was very noisy due to a large group of business men having dinner there. This is not the norm. Usually, the noise level is fine. I would definitely go back!"
Dined on 12/10/2013
My brunch (2 poached eggs,
something with New Bern in the title) was excellent. Eggs were done perfectly, with a delightful sauce. The pomme frites were wonderful -- crisp, wonderfully seasoned. My companions' brunch (1 poached egg -- I forget the title) was passable. The one egg was served on two slices of bread, making a much-too-bready combination. The grits that were chosen for a side were bland."

Very nice restaurant. Enjoyed the
brunch and looking forward to returning for another fine meal."
Dined on 11/10/2013
Great food and service. The
scallops were Perfectly prepared, as was the salmon. Wine prices were very fair...all in all a perfect choice for a relaxed, beautifully prepared meal!"
Dined on 11/8/2013
I have been here many times, it is
always fantastic. The restaurant can get loud when at capacity but was fairly moderate this night. I had scallops as did another diner and the other of my party got the salmon with gnocchi. Ashley does everything so well. Fried oyster appetizer was great as usual. If you live here or are passing through I highly recommend a stop at 247 Craven."
Dined on 11/9/2013
Again, 247 Craven delivers. It's
becoming the only restaurant in our town where we go for a special occasion. Heirloom Tomato Caprese Salad was a standout dish. Everything was fantastic."
Dined on 7/20/2013
We have eaten at multi-star
restaurants around the world. 247 came highly recommended. The food was tasty and well prepared, but nothing that made us go Wow! The restaurant is small and the table layout is limited, so you cannot experience any sense of privacy or intimacy. Not a good place for a first date. When we dine, we believe the initial experience sets the tone. This is usually the time we enjoy a wine or a beer and munch on the bread before making our entree choices. In this case we were highly disappointed in the taste and consistency of the bread. It was like chewing on cardboard. The tasteful food did offset the initial disappointment. We would recommend this restaurant for someone who wants a well prepared meal sans ambiance."

One of New Bern's best restaurants
offering a changing menu of excellent gourmet food and great wines. Great place for special occasion birthday, anniversary or whatever you want to celebrate."
Dined on 10/9/2013
247 is my favorite restaurant in
New Bern. The menu changes with the season and specials are always offered so something new and different always awaits. I love the arugula salad. My friends ordered lamb shanks that they said were delicious. I usually order a seafood special and have never been disappointed, Desserts are made by the chef's grandmother and are wonderful."

247 Craven offers diners a very
good choice for dining in New Bern. This small restaurant offers a great choice of entree's and has a full bar. The chef obviously knows what he is doing because all options are very good as is the service. They have a few tables on the sidewalk for those who enjoy outdoor dining, which may be very nice in the fall and spring when it isn't too hot."
Dined on 9/4/2013
Only Two tables were occupied.
Service was extremely slow, food ok at best. Maybe dinner is better. Menu looks better for dinner. Skip lunch."
