Diner Reviews
  • "Excellent food and service with a beautiful view. A must for anyone passing through the Lake Geneva area. If you haven't been there for a while, then you may not be aware of the changes to the menu and decor. I have always loved the rustic feel in the restaurant. The updates have combined the best of the old and new. The updates to the menu were positive as well. The quality and presentation of the food was excellent. The servers were knowledgeable of the food and friendly. Very enjoyable!"

  • "We went there on Friday to get the lobster special. Except for the fact the lobster got cold because of my lack of skills taking one apart, everything was good. My wife had the steak filet and it was cooked just right for her. Will try their Saturday prime rib and possibly their Sunday brunch soon. Waiter was good and the view of the pier was great."

  • "We were seated right away. It wasn't crowded so we were able to pick where we wanted to sit (in a booth way in the back). I had the lobster fest which was very good, my husband had the black n blue flatbread which he said was very good."

  • "this was the most overpriced worse food I ever paid for, I would never recommend to anyone to eat at this restaurant and the waitress did not smile or even seem like she wanted to serve us I was wondering why it was empty, well now I know its just bad"

  • "We thought this restaurant was excellent. The good was very good, have to say the calamari for our app was incredibly good :-) Only bad thing....is the hotel it is located in. We were not happy with the Abbey at all! We were there for few days for a mini-honeymoon and the service sucked. Hopefully next time we come up to lake geneva we will cab it over for another fabulous dinner :-0"

  • "This restaurant at the the Abbey Resort has redecorated and played with their menu a bit -- not really for the better. They've removed some of the higher end items, which they did really well. And have now gone if favor of a moderate to lower priced menu. On the evening of our dinner, they offered a lobster special, which actually looked quite good. But, due to price, it was popular -- and that's basically all the kitchen could deal with. Anyone (us) who ordered something different had to wait patiently until they got around to our orders. Luckily, our waiter was alert to the problem and offered us drinks with a nice apology. Hopefully, they'll get their service and menu on track soon."

  • "Food was good. Service was very slow. Table by the window was nice."

  • "Food was good, on par with price and nice ambience, but hampered by poor mgmt. Luckily we got our food in just over an hour, with apologies from both the waitress and mgr, but all around us were angry customers who had waited much longer. The mgr was bussing tables and delivering food and drinks to try and help, but not making much of a difference. When asked, he seemed to be proud of his willingness to help, without addressing the real problem of only having one bus person for the whole restaurant on a Fri. night and an obvious shortage of kitchen help. Waitress was nice, not her fault. Would go back for the food only once service/mgmt issues addressed. Too bad for the obviously competent chefs and waitstaff."

  • "Hostesses attitude was very rude, as she made it a point of telling us they had a lot of reservations (of which we were one) and got worse when I stated we had requested a window table when booking. She sat us at the very last table against the wall, even though there were many others available. Service was absolutely TERRIBLE! Server was overwhelmed, as they were also obviously understaffed (only one bus boy). It took a VERY long time to get waited on, and once that happened and we finally started eating, ALL of our dinnerware remained on the table throughout the entire meal. Quite unpleasant! Bread basket finally arrived with our dinner (they said they ran out?). Thankfully the food was VERY good. We'll give them one more chance."

  • "My wife and I went for our anniversary while we stayed at the Abbey Resort for the night. We decided on the seafood options and had the Tuna and Scallops. They were phenomenal! I joked with the manager and told him that this was the first time I had ever had a tear run down my cheek while enjoying a meal."

  • "The overall dinner experience was excellent, with each item prepared and presented very nicely. This was an wonderful meal at an exceptional price. This will be a typical Friday experience for us as long as they have this special. While most of the menu prices seemed a little on the high side for most items, we feel it would be worth cost if they are as wonderful as this special was."

  • "My sister and I had dinner at 240 and we both had the lamb chops, cooked medium rare, they were done to perfection and were delicious as was the bacon Mac and cheese. The brussel sprouts however were supposed to be roasted and tasted more like steamed but since I like brussel sprouts that way too, I didn't mind them. My sister had roasted asparagus spears and they were cooked perfect -firm but tender. We both had wine with dinner, I had a Moscato(delicious) and my sister had a Riesling. Our waitress was great, super attentive brought us extra raisin bread 3times! Which all their bread is delicious! My only complaint is that it's a little pricey-our meal was over $135.00"

  • "The Saturday night Prime Rib Buffet was a meal to remember. I have never tasted such perfectly seasoned and cooked prime rib. The baked potato bar was awesome as well as the oysters. My family also enjoy the wide variety of food options as well. I would definitely recommend 240 to others!"

  • "Restaurant should change their policy on substituting a vegetable for a starch. Both my wife and I asked to not have the potatoes that were included with our entrees and to rather have a vegetable instead. Our server said that they could not substitute but we could order of the Ala Carte menu which we did. My wife ordered the Asparagus and she was charged the full side item price of $6.00 and she received 3 small stalks on her plate with the Sea Bass. I ordered the roasted cauliflower and it was also served on the plate with my Chicken for $6.00. This is short sighted on the part of the restaurant management as there are many better options in the Lake Geneva area."

  • "The entertainment was outstanding. The piano player was fantastic. He even played the piano while playing the trumpet. Now that takes skill. The dining area was nice, and the wait staff was courteous, however the tables were too low so it was difficult to scoot the chair in beneath the table (at least on the tables they unhinged the round ends to make the table square). The food was good, (it certainly wasn't bad) but it was a bit pricey. But it is like any other "upscale" restaurant nowadays, you are in there with a bunch of other people who are dressed in flip-flops and shorts (some people at the resort were just coming in off the beach), so definitely don't plan on it being a romantic evening. The view of the harbor/lake was pleasant."

  • "We'd been to 240 West for Mothers Day brunch and it was a disaster. Diners had to walk from the dining room, thru a reception room of sorts, to yet another room, where a very thoroughly picked over buffet was set. The service was as poor as the food, but we all wrote it off to the busyness that comes with a holiday brunch. I swore I'd never go back, but am glad we decided to. This time we had the Saturday night prime rib buffet. Happily, this time the buffet was set out in the dining room, the food was well stocked and tasty. The desserts were splendid, and service was courteous and timely. We've been eating at the Abby for years, and are happy to see that the remodel hasn't changed much of what we've always liked about it after all."

  • "This recently renovated restaurant in the Abbey has the perfect combination of old and new, shabby and sheik. The chef is fantastic not to mention the a high quality swevice staff. Julia was our Saturday evening server and was absolutely wonderful in every way."

  • "Better food is available in this area. Meat portion rather small. Spacey waitress. Nice location, remodeling very attractive. Maybe the buffet is the better deal here."

  • "Warm greating when we valeted the car and entered the restaurant. Bringing in a guest for business I could not ask for anything more. The waitress was sincere and the food was excellent. The recent renovations accommodate the spectacular view."
