  • "We were in town on business and had dinner on one of free night. We had a hard time finding the restaurant but once we did it was a great evening. Overall, our experience was great. Our server was wonderful - allowing us time to talk, not pressuring us to order and presenting us with some great off menu choices for entrees and appetizers. The food was fabulous - from the pork belly to the pork chop to the steak and fries."

  • "It's difficult to find restaurants in Savannah that aren't heavily geared toward seafood or meat, but this restaurant offers something for everyone. The menu is based around locally produced food, with different preparations of a particular item. The food quality, presentation, flavor, and service were all excellent. We will definitely be back next time we're in the area."

  • "Stopped for a bite before a 7:30 concert. Perfect. Shared crudités (delicious pickled veg and deviled eggs), cheese plate, tuna carpaccio and a salad. Beautifully plated and just right when we didn't want a soporific meal. Very good wine by the glass. We are locals. This first visit will definitely be the first of many."

  • "We tried this restaurant on a Saturday night, we made the reservation on the drive downtown. The host was very accommodating, allowing us to finish a drink with friends at the bar and holding the table for us. The menu was a little different, but the waiter took time to explain the concept to us. The Tuna Carpaccio app was awesome, we also tried the special crab soup and both selected the beef with seasonal vegetables. It was very simply prepared but very good, the meat portion was small (but we selected the smaller portion)...it was really just the right amount of food. Vegetables were great, and we both had a hard time not eating all of our bread and butter. Service was good, good atmosphere... looks out to park at city market."

  • "Food was good and the restaurant was nicely decorated but the service was slow and the wait staff seemed poorly trained and unprofessional. We Waited nearly 45 min just for a drink. Even though the restaurant was Moderately crowded (valentines day) all parts of the meal were slow in coming and we had to remind the staff about our orders. No apologies or Explanations were given. Will most likely not be back."

  • "The cooking and presentation of the food was superb. The duck was perfectly cooked. The mushrooms were rich in flavor and combined perfectly with the mussels and greens. Perfect textures and mingling of flavors. Portions were adequate. Prices a bit high, but a good value for the quality of the food and cooking. Good service, attentive and warm. The dining space is a bit sparse, but improved as the tables filled. The bar area had more energy and looked inviting for a future visit. Would recommend when one is seeking a special meal or a special event."

  • "We had never been to 22 Square. My daughters gave me a birthday dinner gift, and we went during Savannah Restaurant Week. What a wonderful surprise is this restaurant! The food was amazing; we each had the beef tenderloin and it rivaled any we have had elsewhere. The Restaurant Week menu was a tremendous value, the view of Ellis Square very cosmopolitan. Being in a hotel, the restaurant has a wonderful urban vibe, is quite sophisticated, yet warm in a Savannah way. Will definitely return."

  • "Although we had the address and looked them up on their website, no one mentioned it was in the Andaz/Hyatt hotel on Ellis square. We almost missed the reservation because of this. Once arrived, we were greeted a little pretentiously by the host. Although first impressions are sometimes wrong, as was the case with the host. he ended up being the most polite and helpful person in the restaurant. Overall it was a nice dining experience, but my steak was too dry although cooked at the proper temperature (medium rare). The Gouda Mac-N-cheese was the best part of my meal."

  • "We went to 22 Square during the Savannah Restaurant week to try them out for the first time. While we fund the food to be good and all ingredients fresh it lacked the wow factor. We thought there wine selections was limited and somewhat pricey. When we reviewed the regular menu it also was limited. I didn't ask, but I was curious as to what kind of specialty items the may have offered on a daily or weekend basis, in order to add to the basic menu. The service was excellent. The Ambiance was somewhat that of a Hotel lobby though, therefore it was hard to describe it. The restaurant was very well maintained and clean. I would like to go again during the week, after finding out more about their extended menu."

  • "My husband and I decided to try this restaurant for the first time during Restaurant Week, at the suggestion of a friend. Now, Restaurant Week can be a tough time to try out a new place--you often have a limited menu (as was the case here), large crowds, stressed kitchen and wait staff, etc., but our experience here was relatively free of excessive drama--the food was excellent (though it did take quite a while for us to get our entrees) and our servers were both friendly and accommodating. I have to say, though, that I just didn't like the decor. They were obviously trying to go for something "fresh" and contemporary, but to me it looked like a boarding school cafeteria! Oh well, to each his own--it won't keep us from coming back."

  • "Because we had a large group (12), my wife and I each made a reservation on Open Table. A phone call to the restaurant a week ahead yielded a commitment to seat all 12 at a table. On the day of the reservation, someone called from the restaurant to confirm. They said they could NOT seat us together until 8:45, much later than our reservations. I told the caller that was unacceptable, to leave the reservations as they were with 2 groups of 6. Shortly thereafter, an email was received saying our reservations were cancelled. I called, and had great difficulty even getting someone to speak with me. Finally, I got a manager, explained the situation, and the reservation was restored. Way too much confusion and turmoil. They lost me."

  • "As this was our first visit to the restaurant I'm not sure if our experience was a typical Saturday night or due to Restaurant Week. The dining room was full, and so loud that it was impossible to carry on a conversation. The host was really nice, but service overall was not great. It took 10 minutes after being seated for our server to even speak to us or get a drink order. Normally long pauses between the time the server arrives, the drinks arrive, the bread arrives, etc., wouldn't be that bad as you could talk with the people you're eating with, but this was impossible with the noise. My body physically unclenched when we left the restaurant. The food was very good, the rest was not. We would eat in the bar if we ever return."

  • "We have become hounds for fresh, local and organic (when possible) fine dining in Savannah in recent years and our dinner Saturday night was awesome! My husband and I ordered different salads, soups, entrees and desserts and each of us left no food behind. We didn't have a great table--stuck in the back corner, hence my ambience score--and the restaurant will be noisy on a full night, but otherwise we greatly enjoyed our evening at 22 Square and we will be back regularly."

  • "Upon arrival at 22 Square, my friends and I were greeted with smiles and fond "hellos". Once seated, the Executive Sous Chef, Mike, came out to greet us and welcome my friends and I to 22 Square. He continued by explaining he would be preparing a five course meal, all paired with wine as a special treat for my friends. Needless to say, the food and wine was out of this world! After a long day exploring Savannah, this meal hit the spot. My girlfriend is a very picky eater; however, she cleaned her plate on every course. I was thoroughly impressed. The rest of the night my friends spoke of how they were VIP guests at the best restaurant in Savannah! What a delight! Amazing staff, Amazing chefs, and the BEST food in Savannah!"

  • "I rarely eat at the restaurant of the hotel where I'm staying, but as the temperature dipped to 18 degrees, I decided to stick close to home. The food was OK, with the appetizer, a carrot bisque, significantly better than the grilled Mahi special that was overcooked and covered in a red pepper sauce that just... wasn't good. The sous chef served as the host and he clearly wasn't comfortable with this duty."

  • "This is easily one of the best restaurants I have ever been too. It caught my friend and me completely by surprise. At first it looks like a standard contemporary American restaurant. However, the food is phenomenal. The best part, surprisingly, is the bread you get as part of the appetizer. It is a warm focaccia stuffed with cheese. I also enjoyed the baked tart and a burger. I finished off the meal with a delicious ice cream cookie. Everything was first rate, including the service. I look forward to revisiting 22 Square upon my next visit to Savannah."

  • "Our group of six was looking for a decent (and not too expensive) place for a light supper before NYE partying. We had already pre-gamed and were not starving. We sampled several apps and split a couple of entrees, and with cocktails and a bottle of wine, were able to get out for about $100 per couple. The mac and cheese is to die for, and the calamari and tuna tartare delicious! Entrees were a little scant but tasty. Probably should have just ordered more apps. And they gave out free cookies, petit fours and NYE party stuff!"

  • "Service was slow, took forever to get the check. Told the waiter we were splitting dishes and they brought out one plate then asked where he should put it. Most restaurants split it for you before bringing it out. Very loud and no ambience."

  • "Didn't realize this place was in a hotel lobby, but the bar was busy throughout the night. Good cocktails and live music are always a good combo. The dining room was small, but the server was attentive and polite and the food was great. I love that they do local fare and their menu is broken down by dishes from different farms all within 100 miles. I had roasted chocked with a mushroom and veggie risotto. Compliments!"

  • "Was traveling with my adult daughter and stayed overnight in historic Savannah — a delightful experience any time of the year. I liked what I read on Open Table about 22 Square and made a reservation. The decor is contemporary AND welcoming — a muted palette, comfortable seating and lots of windows for people watching. We started with the cheese tray and a glass of wine. Then, ordered the grass-fed blackened rib-eye and filet. Delicious! Go to 22 Square. You won't be disappointed."

While there weren't a lot of choices on a holiday, the reviews were great and it was very close to the hotel. The restaurant area was kind of small but the food and service were great. The menu was a bit limited due to the holiday but tasty."

  • "We were very pleased with our dinner. The crispy pork belly with the handmade pasta was wonderful. My daughter had the chicken breast served with risotto. I usually don't care much for risotto but this one was spectacular. Every dish had lots of flavor. Definately our new favorite find."

  • "We were staying at the Andaz, so it was convenient to try 22 Square. Our waiter was excellent in that he explained all aspects of the different type of menu. We had the chilled carrot soup with shrimp and it was very good. By comparison, the shrimp and risotto lacked flavor. The free range chicken with risotto was more flavorful, simple yet good. The menu was interesting and with a little more work to jazz up the flavors, I think they will have a hit."

  • "We felt the menu, though not laid out well, showcased local farms and producers in a simple fashion. The Items prepared that were branded on the menu as directly from local farms were prepared well. The chicken breast from Hunter Cattle was cooked well and did the farm proud. However, we felt the sides, the garnishes and accompaniments were lacking technique and flavor. Risotto with chicken was flavorful and full of "Hen of the Woods" mushrooms but was relatively stodgy and stiff, not creamy as expected. Now, I still recommended 22 Square for friends to eat later that evening and we will return, I just hope to taste some great local goods with preparations that have the same effort put into them as was put into their procurement."
