  • "Excellent meal from start to finish. We had the tuna tartar which was a large portion and enough to share. Great flavor of sweet soy sauce with notes of ginger and sesame oil served with crispy wonton chips. We also had the oysters which were perfectly shucked where the flesh was detached from the shell without losing any of the brine. They were served with a fresh cocktail sauce and a nice mignonette. My wife got the fillet which was juicy, tender, and delicious. I got the dry aged Delmonico which was one of the best steaks I have ever had. I have eaten at many steakhouses with dry aged prime beef but this ribeye might have been the best. If I had any complaint at all I guess the creamed spinach was underwhelming."

  • "When we arrived for our 645 reservations we were greetd by very pleasant smiling staff and congratulated us on our 25th Anniversary. We were seated almost immediately. Our waitress was very pleasant and smiling the whole time we were there. She brought over complimentry champagne and congratulated us on our 25th Anniversary (Really nice touch). My wife ordered the Rib Eye Steak (Perfecto!!), I had the Special Salmon (Same-Perfecto). The bread was warm and fresh. One of the Managers stopped by and asked how was everything and if we needed anything else and also so said Congratrulations. We finished our meals and our waitress came over and gave us a complimentry Chocolate desert cake that was so good. Excellent Service. Loved it!!!"

  • "We waited 45 minutes and decided to leave. Manager said "sorry for the wait". They are literally putting your food on the plate as we speak. Sorry, left and went to Brick Alley Pub. Fast service and great food. Goodbye 22B."

  • "Too many other good restaurants in Newport to waste time and money here. Was given an inexperienced/non-attentive waiter. Steak did not come out cooked as ordered. Table was too small for our party. Waiter was not prompt in removing excess items from table. Very disappointing experience given the high prices this restaurant charges."

  • "The Mrs. and I enjoy a good dinner on the wharf, when visiting Newport for our one day to the International Tennis Hall of Fame tournament. Good food (a little expensive) with GREAT service! Ask for waiter "Michael"--------he's inside on the second floor."

  • "22 Bowen never disappoints. The food, service, and ambience are always consistent. Whether you order steak, chicken or fish, you are always assured a fabulous dinner."

  • "From stale dinner rolls to bland swordfish and old tasting mashed potatoes . . . Not what we were expecting from the expensive menu and location. We would not recommend . . ."

  • "Excellent wine list, professional service and well prepared foods. Enjoyed the Artisinal Cheese Plate as a starter. Veal Chop and Steaks were all cooked perfectly."

  • "My husband and I made reservations for this restaurant without knowing anything about it other than what we could see on their website. I got the impression that it would be hard to get a table and chose a 5pm seating, even though we would have liked to eat at 7pm. We were the only ones seated upstairs until about 6pm, so OpenTable's count didn't match the restaurant. Other than that, we really enjoyed it. Our waitress was very fun and funny but absolutely did not intrude on our date. The views of the harbor were wonderful. The decor inside was very pretty. Is it the West Village in NYC? No, but we certainly wouldn't want that harbor side. Perfect level of fancy for the location."

  • "My wife and I visited Newport last weekend (July 4-6). We made a reservation on Saturday evening at 22 Bowen's. My wife had a question about one of the appetizers the bucket of clams. Our server said that there were 'little necks' in the bucket. When the bucket arrived, there were littlenecks, steamers and mussels. My wife sent them back. Our server seemed a bit put off. That said, my wife's lobster was the best I have ever tasted. And, my Porterhouse was great. Torchon de Fois Gras was beautifully done."

  • "PROS: great wine list, great filet and selfish platter, location (great view) CONS: waitress had zero personality and added nothing to the experience, we spent $100 PP and were treated sub-par (all in our mid-late 20's and she seemed annoyed), one of the eight meals came out 10 minutes late with hardly any apologies or attempts to rectify the error (either the kitchen forgot to make it or the waitress didn't put it in), we were seated next to the air conditioner vent and asked four different times to lower the air and no one cared - people were literally freezing and were switching seats throughout the night because they were so cold OVERALL: the food was great but the waitstaff could use a lot of work... I would pass!"

  • "We took out-of-town friends to the restaurant and everything was just perfect. Our dinners were exquisite and our second level table overlooking the social scene of bowens wharf was very entertaining!"

Succulent littlenecks, clams, oyster and lobster............ Coupled with outstanding service in an fablous location. This is must!!!"

  • "Everything about our experience at 22 bowen's was outstanding. The service was quick, friendly and knowledgable. The food was absolutely outstanding! The owner (I'm assuming) made his way to every table to endure each customer was having a great experience and that we did! Went to celebrate my boyfriends birthday and he is still raving about it claiming it was 'the best meal he's ever had!' As we live in NY we would not hesitate to drive the three hours JUST to eat here again."

  • "We try to go here during our trips to Newport. Service was good and nothing would make us not go back, but one of our entrees was seriously overcooked and since it was sliced, it was obvious and still brought out that way. I could have sent it back but I'm not that type. We will try again because we've had many good meals in the past and the steak was delicious, just hope it goes better next time (and I'll stay away from the tuna... Ordered seared and brought out medium)."

  • "I made outdoor afternoon seating arrangements ahead of time and ended up upstairs in a corner that was dark. our appetizers came out way before our drinks and I had to go to the bar to get straws. Our waiter seemed to be occupied with other tables or overwhelmed. Ordered the filet mignon without mushrooms and it came back with mushrooms. it took awhile for the wait staff to clear our table and before we were done with our appetizers they took our utensils and plates without asking if we were done. When the meal came out we waited to ask our waiter for ketchup, but never returned. I had to get up and get my own ketchup. This place was recommended and I was very disappointed."

  • "Ordered the Filet and N.Y. Sirloin -- ordered both Medium came out rare had to send both back for medium --did a good job the second time --other than that everything else was excellent--food, service, atmosphere and location to the water."

  • "We ate here for Father's Day and the staff was as good as the food. High quality blend of surf and turf. Great scene right down at the pier, with things going on all around."

  • "Knowledgeable and friendly server upstairs on Fathers day we visited. My husband meal was the special and terrific and our daughter a vegan did have limited choices, The server was quick to suggest a chefs specially prepared plate which was nice, however our daughter was happy with baked potato and side of mushrooms. We have been here before as summer residents and usually come in around lunch time. I thought the pricing seemed high and will probably only visit for special occasions or just for lunch. overall a very pleasant experience with a high price tag!"

  • "While on vacation in Newport, we chose 22B from a list of 10 reccomendations. To bad we weren't playing the lottery that day. Everything was perfect from the friendly hostess, our suggestive but not pushy waiter, to the excellent food. My wife had the salmon with gnochi and I the 22B filet. Both entrees were filled with flavor. The atmosphere of being on the water was perfect. Highly Highly receommended!!"

  • "The price exceeded the quality. The food did not have amazing flavor given the price. Also, the filet that my girlfriend ordered was served rare when she asked for medium well."

  • "What a wonderful meal. A perfect day dining alfresco with a delicious salad, perfectly cooked salmon, amazing tuna tartare and oh my god that chocolate cake. There was some sort of milk ice cream served with the cake, which on the menu sounded kind of boring but when we tasted it, just blew us away with its fresh sweet perfection. When eaten with the cake, it was even better. Basically one of the best desserts I have had in a LONG time and I'm a pastry chef, for what that's worth. I'll go back any time."

  • "This was our first time at 22 Bowen Street and they "delivered". Dinner started with great bread and moved on accordingly. I had a lobster that was perfect and my husband had deliciously prepared scallops. The sides were excellent (mashed potatoes and creamed spinach). The mixed drinks and beer selections were also very nice. The only disappointment was that we were celebrating our anniversary (actual day) and despite noting in reservation we had to remind server. This is forgivable, as I am certain many people claim to be celebrating something. The server insisted upon bringing a very good slice of chocolate cake once we told her we were celebrating. This is a very good restaurant choice when visiting Newport, RI. "

  • "This restaurant is right on the wharf with good views of water and people watching. More upscale than most of the restaurant along the Wharf area. Good menu. We certainly return. "

  • "My party and I had a delightful evening. The food was superb as was the wait staff. Special kudos to Jesse, our sommelier who was extremely knowledgeable about the subtle differences of wines from the same area, and equally as charming. This is a must stop for serious diners when they are in Newport."

  • "Went here with my husband on our first night in newport for our babymoon. The location is great and the restaurant was busy. We we were seated on time and enjoyed a delicious meal ( kale salad was great and my husband lived the pork chop special) the apple crisp for dessert was also amazing. Would absolutely return!"

  • "The food was good. The service was good. Overall a nice experience. Nothing out of the ordinary, but I would return. I wish we had had a table with a view of the harbor, but maybe next time. The dessert menu could be a little more inspired."

  • "22 Bowen is a regular stop for these "locals" - we're enticed by the welcoming atmosphere, fine service and good food. On this visit, however, the service was WAY off. It took over 30 minutes for our table of 4 to receive our platter of "raw bar" seafood..it doesn't take that long to shuck a few oysters and clams, even on a busy night. Since this was an anomaly in our experiences at 22 Bowen, we'll dismiss it as just a bad night; a night where the new service crew is just learning the ropes. It's time to get up to speed, however, before the onslaught of the busy summer traffic."

  • "The location on the pier provides you with the opportunity to watch people as you eat and they walk by. The service at the restaurant was excellent. The flat iron steak was carefully prepared and delicious. Chocolate lava cake for dessert was amazing."
