We stayed at the hotel and decided not to go out to a neighborhood restaurant and try the hotel instead. What a treat! Sorry we did not take advantage of it more. Believe it or not, best value of food as well. Fish and chips are perfection. Seafood sandwich is the best value of food. Generous portions!

The server we had (Guillium) was very rude and unprofessional. It took forever to take our order and the way he spoke was like he was yelling at us and he rushed us as we ordered. We put in our order and it took 1 hour to get our soup and salad. The entrees took another 20 minutes. The food was fine not great just fine. We wanted desert but didn't want to spend another minute at the table so we asked for it to go and our waiter told us no. We didn't want ice cream just a piece of cake and he told me he couldn't make it to go. HUH? I guess putting it in a box was a hassle for him. I told the manager about how long the wait was for appetizers and how rude the waiter was and she just nodded her head and said sorry and that was it! Never again.

The setting is elegant and warm, the staff is efficient and wonderful, the expectations are high since this is The Fairfax Hotel. Then comes the disappointing food. The butternut squash soup was OK, the main meal of Strip Loin, was dry, very little taste, I could make much better at home without paying so much for it. I decided I will not finish it because the calories were not worth it. We finished the meal with Creme Brulee, which was good, but nothing special. It's not a place for foodies.

The Duck confit on mushroom risotto was phenomenal!!! Our actual server was so-so, but the bus boys and other staff were quite attentive and friendly. I had a big work bag with me and the hostess was kind and smart enough to place me at a table that had enough room for me to put it to the side without crowding my personal dining space (she was thinking ahead and I like that).

Yes, it is Restaurant Week, a stressful time for most restaurants. However, some of that stress would be alleviated by staffing properly during this busy time! At dinner on Weds, we only saw one actual server, providing service to the entire floor! Yes, there are back waiters to help...but throughout our 2 hour dinner our server visited our table three times. Greet, order taking, and check drop! We ordered a bottle of wine, which I ended up pouring for myself and my fiance throughout the meal. After our entree, the person who opened the bottle came over and picked it up to pour more wine (finally!), realized the bottle was empty, and made fun of us for finishing it "so quickly" (again, 2 hours). Got dessert to go. Won't be back.

There was a set menu- no options at all- for New Years Eve. No where on the website stated this, and the woman who called to confirm our reservations didn't mention it. This is unfortunate considering my boyfriend doesn't eat seafood and two of the courses were seafood. The server seemed miffed when we asked for a salad without the fish, and he never came back to ask if I would like another drink or if we would like coffee with our dessert, although I saw him giving his larger table coffee. The food was pretty good, but nothing amazing.

Alas, we were expecting a pretty good dinner...given hotel's and kitchen's history... and,it was New Year's Eve, not crowded, etc. We were dressed well, befitting our elevated expectations. Sadly, there was no choice save for special 'special' 4 course NYrs Eve menu. First:two pieces of seared tuna on lettuces. Next, weakly flavored crab and fish,in sauce termed a 'bouillabaise'( NOT!). Next, small soggy beef filet & perigourd sauce, tho' entirely lacking in truffle flavor..infact, any flavor. Next, slice of bland camembert with one blackberry and dry plain toast. Last, an undistinguised pastry. Poor selection and description of wines, and no vintages given by the glass.Arrogant and lame service. Starwood can do better. Much better.

We've eaten here several times. It's always an incredible food experience. The service this time was attentive yet lacking. We never got a wine menu nor were we asked if we wanted coffee or anything else at the end of our meal. We expect good service but just go with the flow. I figure that it will be a long tme, if ever, we return or recommend this restaurant again. The restaurant was not crowded but was getting a little busy when we were finishing. There are just too many restaurants in DC of this caliber to deal with this kind of service.

I was disappointed that we were the only ones in the restaurant.. and despite that, the service was slow. The food was fine (steak good, fish fare), but the ambiance from the Jockey Club is now totally missing.. and feels just like a typical hotel restaurant. If I were a visitor from out of town, staying at the hotel, I would probably not be disappointed.. but as someone who knows alot of restaurants in town, and having been to the old Jockey Club, it was a big disappointment.. I cannot even imagine why they closed down the Jockely Club to create this, as the Jockey Club had so much character and fantastic food!

We first went to the restaurant for the special Thanksgiving Day menu which we thought to be excellent. So, this was our second visit and it certainly didn't disappoint on any level. Delightful surroundings, beautifully quiet and very attentive staff across the board. The food (and choice) is excellent and the bar is superb for pre-dinner drinks. I am gluten free and no fuss was made about it at all and the choice of food available was varied. We will definitely make this a local regular dining venue. Thank you 2100 Prime
