Hunted for a different option in Whistler. Wanted great food yet not a large place as we like calm rather than frenzied ambience. Found it at 21 Steps. My wife had lamb and I had pasta and both were excellent as were the appetizers. Definitely will go back...

I chose this place for my birthday because the menu looked interesting and my husband and I have never tried this restaurant before. We were not disappointed. The restaurant was casual but the food was as delicious as the fine dining restaurants. We were seated by a window and had a wonderful view of the mountains and the Village. The staff also brought out my dessert with a candle and sang the birthday song to me. This was a very special touch. I truly enjoyed my birthday dinner and I am glad I did choose this restaurant.

Good table, restaurant could definitely do with air conditioning. Quite hot at times. If the day is hot then this restaurant is quite warm. They do open windows, but not always a breeze.Takes time to cool down. Some working at Whistler may be used to the heat, but travelers may not be. & escaping to restaurant to cool off, not heat up. However, Server efficient & nice & ready to answer questions. Family loves the food There. Little on pricier side but delicious dinner. Served in good time, enjoyable meal & evening.

We were a group of seven girls grabbing dinner before going out to celebrate a bachelorette party. Food was wonderful, not one complaint from anyone. The restaurant was loud but that's suited us as we could chat amongst ourselves without worrying about being the loud table. Will definitely go back.

Their fried chicken tapas were great. I went with the linguini puttanesca and it was excellent, thought it might be too salty by its nature. Summer note: it's really quite warm in the main restaurant level (the afternoon sun shines right in), and the bar upstairs is a bit smokey.

My boyfriend and I went to enjoy a carb-loaded pre Ironman dinner and it was fantastic. The appetizer, a baked cheese with pesto, was one of my favorite appetizers from a restaurant. The pastas were delicious and the service was very friendly. Great ambiance, even on a busy weekend.

Our server was attentive, fast and had a great knowledge of the menu and drink menu. This was the last place we ate on our honeymoon and it made our trip. The food was incredible! My husband is vegetarian and it's really hard to find a spot to eat where he has more than one or two options, so it was great to find a nice place to eat where he didn't have any trouble with dietary options. All the food came out fast and the portion sizes were perfect. I only wish I saved room for dessert. The chefs and all the staff there have my thanks for a wonderful evening. :)

Very good food, we had the chilli prawns followed by cod and salmon. All excellent. The only downside is that this is not a place to linger and stretch out an evening with friends, the service comes quick and just keeps coming, we were in and out in less than an hour.

Both of us have choosen the 3-course-dinner-special for 36 CAD. Big menu card to choose an entrée & a main course. So everybody should definitely find something he likes. Already the starter ( smoked salmon & ceasar salad ) was a very generous plate & tasty. Even so the main course ( bacon wrapped beef filet & salmon steak ). At the end, we could choose a dessert from a separate menu card ( cheesecake & blueberry crumble ). On top of that, friendly & courteous waiter. Nice atmosphere, enough space to eat and clean toilettes. Definitely worth to go there.

We were there for a birthday celebration. All of our meals were cooked as requested and we were very pleased. One group of partiers close to us were sometimes a bit obnoxious and kept coming to a different table next to us to enjoy themselves more; they were a bit on the loud side and because of lack of space were continuously knocking into at least one of us at our table each time. However, everything else was so nice and the menu had plenty of options for everyone.

Service was great! Okay food, I had the rib eye steak which I ordered medium-rare and was served medium. This was fine because the steak had a lot of flavour. My husband ordered the ribs which came with way too much sauce. Once he scraped the excess sauce off he said they were okay.

We booked 21 steps for our nice dinner out this past weekend. We arrived a few minutes early and our table was ready. Looked over the menu and decided what we would be having. Ordered our drinks and appy's at the same time. Didn't even get a sip of our drink and appy's arrived way to fast. Are they precooked in the back. Faster than McDonalds. I am not saying this is a bad thing but when you are looking for a nice dinner out way to fast. Quickly drank our drinks as we wanted wine with dinner. Dinner came just as fast. I truly felt this experience was like being at a fast food restaurant. We both had steak and it was okay nothing special. I had the filet and it was very chewy.

My wife and I came up to Whistler for the week and after experiencing some fine local cuisine (Sushi - night one, Steak - night two) we weren't really expecting much for our third night at 21 Steps. However, as it turns out, we were pleasantly surprised. Great food and a warm "vibe" made for a very positive experience. Service was top-notch and the place just had a really positive energy to it. Not the place for a quiet getaway, but if you like that uptempo, open, vibrant dining experience, then you could do far worse than 21. Great job guys - Thanks! JP

Really, my hotel recommended this restaurant and I had to go on my own the first time. Not only was the filet tender and flavorful, but the service was great! It was busy and they still took the time to make me feel comfortable. When I came back with my husband it was just as good! And since I wasn't alone, I was able to fit in the mushroom cap appetizer - yummy! Definitely will keep this place in mind next time I'm in Whistler!!

I love 21 steps - I have lived in Whistler for 2 years now and it is my favorite restaurant in town. The food is always great without fail - the baked mushroom caps small plate is my "best dish" in Whistler. However, the last 2 times in 2 weeks that I have dined here, I have felt the service to be poor; which is upsetting, as I recommend this restaurant to a lot of people working in a hotel. Last week the service was very long, it took 20 minutes for 1 drink to be brought to the table after ordering, and then my pasta dish that I asked to take away with me was never brought to the table for me to take home. Then this week a friend and I were continuously rushed to make decisions and eat because of the next reservation for our table.

Atmosphere was great, lots of relaxed energy in a great location. We started with the mussels - east coast mussels on the west coast, disappointed not see local mussels when they can be sourced so close. Went with the curry sauce and the chef just didn't nail it, it was OK. The main course was better, seafood pasta included lots of good seafood but the sauce was bland, again the chef didn't nail it. The short rib was outstanding, my wife wished she would have ordered it too, we would definitely recommend it. Finished with dessert, mud pie, good but not to die for. Service was very good, the waitress was attentive but not overbearing, friendly and sincere. Prices were fair, two can dine for about $100 plus tip.
