Diner Reviews
  • "I have been to Audrey Claire with my boyfriend and a few friends months prior. I contacted our friend who suggested the reaturant for that night when my boyfriends bday was coming up, knowing she is very knowledgable about great food in the city. 20 manning was on her list of recommendations. When I saw the menu online and saw the set up of the restaurant I was sold! So glad we went because it did not disappoint. The food was excellent, we got the calamari, wedge fries, pot stickers, oysters, and crab cake to start with. My favorite were the oysters and crab cake, the oysters were so fresh, and the crab cake was so meaty and had an amazing side sauce!!! We got the beef noodles for dinner and 1/2baked cookie for dessert. Wow. DELICIOUS. "

  • "My only complaint is that for some reason they kept turning the music up really loud for about 30 seconds and then turning it back down again. It was like listening to a teenager and his mom fight over the car radio. Otherwise, the food was good, but some of the portioning was confusing. The olive app was enough for 10 people, while the butternut squash ravioli entre was amazing, but very small for an entre."

  • "Location, location, location. That's what brought us here, right off Rittenhouse Square. The menu was full of interesting appetizers and side dishes, but the entrees were a lackluster bunch. The burger I had was one of the best I've had in town, and my roasted tomato soup had a bright, rich flavor. But the noise level was pretty ridiculous. There are hard surfaces on the floor, ceiling, walls and upholstery, so none of the busy bar scene was muted. Service was painfully slow, and a side-dish showed up so long after our mains that we'd forgotten all about it. Maybe it was an off night for the kitchen, but they should be able to handle a mealtime without a 25-minute lag. Manning needs to do better to get my business again."

  • "I really enjoy this place. their food is good and the service is friendly. wish the service would have been faster, but overall had a good experience there. It's too noisy though..."

  • "I live in the neighborhood and go to 20 Manning frequently. Each time is a great experience! This time, I had 3 friends come in from the suburbs and we all enjoyed the food. The half-baked toll house cookie (with ice cream) for dessert is amazing...enough to share, unless you are still hungry!"

  • "Had very good bison burger and nice apps, wife had a nice salad and salmon. Service was indifferent. Wines by the glass decent. Decent value for the money- better service would improve overall impression but food good enough that I'd try it again."

  • "Went on a random weekday so the place was a little empty but the service was excellent, as was the food. Definitely want to come back for another meal and definitely want to stop by for a happy hour, for they have a great snack menu and discounted beer."

  • "Having been here in May, and at that point, eating outside, we wanted to try 20 Manning again. Our table was in the middle of the floor, very small, too close to others, and very uncomfortable. It was also very loud, and having a conversation was nearly impossible. Disappointed, to say the least. Would only go back if we could request a different table, or eat outside."

  • "The host was very friendly and pleasant to start, but he really shone when he found my wallet that I'd left behind and tracked me down quickly to let me know it was being kept safe at 20 Manning until I could get back to pick it up! It was amazing! In terms of the meal, the hot bread and rosemary butter were lovely and the tuna burger was tasty. The servers gave us ample time to enjoy our meal, and the bussers kept our water glasses full at all times."

  • "I brought friends in from out of town to Twenty Manning. First problem was that their sign doesnt have their name on it, so they had a hard time finding it. We were one of 4 tables in the restaurant and the service was mediocre. We were sharing a few apps and had to ask for plates. Same thing happened with dessert, no plates or silverware. Out of four of us, three didnt even eat half of our meals and the 4th said that his was ok, but not great. There are too many great restaurants in Phila to put up with mediocre."

  • "If you haven't tried out this place...seriously, what are you waiting for? It has a small menu, but it can cater to all kinds of diets and tastes. From meat lovers to vegetarians, you've got a meal ready. Wait staff is always at attention and ready to clear your spot or fill up your water. I had the friday night special pork shank and it fell off the bone. I also had it with the mash potatoes and they were light, airy, and no salt, no nothing needed. Seriously folks, what have you been waiting for?"

  • "As soon as I saw the bar with the simple oranges and sunflowers I was in love!!! Awesome fresh simple but genius food (the scallops with sautéed greens and orange squash I want to eat everyday). The Audrey was a nice unique cocktail and I love the warm rolls that come in brown paper. Atmosphere is great, location is great, and everyone always seems to be in a good mood. I have dined with just my husband several times and we had a nice romantic intimate dinner and then this past weekend we joined another couple and had a blast. She got the salmon and said it was the best salmon she ever had! Love this restaurant !!!!"

  • "We have had Twenty Manning on our "go to" list since we've moved the neighborhood and we found it to live up to all expectations. The food was simple but delicious and perfectly cooked. Cocktails were also well crafted and anyone could find something they'd like to drink many of! All in all a great spot that I'd recommend to anyone."

  • "Pretty disappointing experience here on Valentines Day. Food wasnt very good and the price was definitely too high for the quality and amount of food that we got. I was expecting a lot more. Nothing was seasoned properly, and most of the food was very lackluster. They had good drinks and the service was good, but that was about it."

  • "Remarkably good food -- fish, beef, pork, salads, everything -- and an attentive, very professional waiter who focused on service rather than chumminess. The setting is happy to the point of boisterous, but if you ask for a quieter table, as we did, you can have a full conversation. We were extremely pleased, and will definitely return."

  • "20 Manning is the 'to go' place for the neighborhood. Walk in at any time and you always see a familiar face. Food is consistently terrific, atmosphere lively and inviting. Some winner favorite items include the 'Chop Chop Salad'; Burger; Sirloin Noodles & Beef and avocado crab appetizer. When the weather warms up great for outdoor dining and watching the 'hood walk by!"

  • "My boyfriend and I live in the neighborhood and love going to 20 Manning for an impromptu date night. The burger is delicious and I had the pork chop. We also love the shrimp cocktail there and the prices for a bottle of wine are very reasonable. The chicken is good and the beer sirloin noodles is one of my boyfriend's favorite dishes. I would highly recommend this place for groups as well - there was a large group of 15 by us and looking like they were having a blast."

  • "We made reservations for restaurant week. We got there about an hour ahead due to no traffic into the city. They have a bar as an option to sit at while you wait or just for drinks, we were willing to sit there and wait. They had a spot open for us and took us right in! The host, server and what I think is the manager were very nice and on point. I can't wait to come back for the regular menu!"

  • "My wife and I came here for restaurant week and had high expectations. Unfortunately they were not met and we left slightly disappointed. The service was lacking and would have chalked it up to being restaurant week but the restaurant wasn't that busy. The appetizers were good, and probably the best thing about the night. My wife had the scallop ceviche and it was awesome. I had the beets which were really good. For entrees, I had the pork chop and my wife had the butternut squash ravioli. Both were good, but not great. The dessert was the biggest disappointment. It was a small sampler. Each tasted like something you would pick up in your grocers freezer. Overall we felt disappointment and that meal was not worth it."

  • "I visited this restaurant on Sunday night for restaurant week with some friends. Having been out to many other restaurants during this promotion over the years, I was pleasantly surprised at the portion size and quality of the food along with friendly service from the staff. Great Time."

  • "on a Friday during restaurant week my request for a "quiet " table was honored. This began a delightful dinner without a wait. When asked, our server recommend salmon or pork chop - our party of two ordered one of each and both entrees were outstanding. And our first course consisting of roasted tomato bisque and baby romaine, perfect starters. Service was not rushed or hurried. Kudos to the chef for creating yet another adventurous 3-course menu. And to our female server for being polite and attentive!"

  • "I hope our experience at 20 Manning was not indicative of the restaurant -- I'd heard such good things! But our meal was poorly paced (brining entrees immediately after appetizers? Immediately??) and the food was fine, but just not that good (pork chop was greatly overcooked, salad was alternately over and under dressed -- dressing was not available on the side, and the "homemade dessert sampler" was a joke: A cookie/muffin with ice cream on it that instead of just eating, I have to peel a muffin wrapper off of? A "brownie" that was so deeply underbaked that it was a mini lava cake? I don't mind lava cake, but it's different than a brownie. I don't know I'd spend $120 to have that same experience again."

  • "I booked a reservation here by chance about 3 years ago because I wanted to try a place I had never been to before. And I ended up finding by absolute favorite restaurant. It's not huge and the tables are somewhat close together, but the food is amazing. Good quality food - not pretentious or stuffy. Whether you order a burger or a full meal, it will be delicious. I have literally enjoyed every single thing I've ever ordered. And if you have room left for dessert, you have to order the half baked chocolate chip cookie. SO GOOD"

  • "Had dinner with friends early on a Friday night. My husband was late in joining us and the waiter never rushed us and didn't pounce on the table as soon as my husband arrived. They had enough vegetarian choices I make the two veggies happy. The chop chop salad was wonderful and the desserts were great."

  • "Our dinners were excellent, and the waitress was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is very clean and the decor is well done. The price point versus food/ambience is just right...not cheap but they give you healthy portions that tatse great!"

  • "Service was just so-so, though they were busy as it was New Year's Eve. Food was excellent though pricey, as we expected. Seems like a popular place for the foodie type. Predetermined menu had plenty of options."

  • "I had never been to Twenty Manning Grill before but had heard that it was wonderful so I decided to take my boyfriend here for his birthday dinner. The dinner we had was truly wonderful. We started with the calamari, which was unlike any I had ever had before. The coating was slightly spicy and there were pickled jalapeños mixed in and we also had the deviled eggs, which were extremely creamy. Then I had the duck confit and my boyfriend had the flash seared yellowfin tuna. Both were cooked perfectly. My only complaint, and this is very minor, is that the waiter seemed unsure of the wine menu which is unusual for wait staff at a fine restaurant. When asked for a recommendation to go with dinner, he had to go ask someone else."

  • "Had our date night at twenty manning and we're blown away with our food selections. My husband ordered the chop chop salad, Maryland crab and avocado, and flash seared yellow fin tuna. He hasn't stopped talking about them. I ordered the iceberg and blue salad, shrimp cocktail and the butternut squash ravioli. For desert we ordered the half baked chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream. Very pleased with everything served to us and will be going back for many more date nights."
