  • "We had a wonderful time on both our visits here. If you can, request Luis to serve you as I have never had a more attentive waiter in my life, though all of the waiters involved were excellent. The water waiter (I didn't see his name) was just lovely also. It's a good price for amazing food, the dessert is it's only real disappointment but after the beginning courses you can forgive them this! Cannot wait for the hotel to open!"

  • "Excellent service and fine dinning. The price worth the experience. In my opinion, one of the best restaurant's in PR."

  • "Super Slow service, food was ok not as good to make me rush back again and pay an exhorbitant amount of money when I know there's better organic restaurants."

  • "After hearing that it was a truly amazing place, we were excited about a great night out for dinner. We were informed that they have strict dress code. Our experience was unfortunately very bad. The food was just horrible and not what you'd expect from fine dinning. The captains were busyily conversing with each other very loudly infact instead of checking in with us even once. What a waste of an otherwise beautiful place. They need a better chef and training to staff re service."

  • "Wonderful, sophisticated setting. Formal but not stuffy service. Outstanding food and wine. A great experience."

  • "The ambiance is perfect for a romantic evening! Beautiful view of the ocean as you dine. The service was truly five star quality. This is not your typical restaurant by any means and brings the true meaning to FINE dining. I love this place and will frequent there any opportunity I get!"

  • "Everything was great until we got the bill to find out that the "fixed price dinner" was not really a fixed price. The server should advise customers when they order the $70 per person fixed price menu, that there are additional charges depending on the items you choose. If it was not for that, I would have given a 5 star rating."

  • "Excellent restaurant with attentive knowledgeable service. Our bartender, M Lopez was extremely informative and provided us a warm and friendly beginning to our evening."

  • "We have been to 1919 a few times and the food is always excellent. This time I had the salmon. It was mouth-watering cooked slowly and served in a delicate vegetable broth with crunchy vegetables. Absolute perfection! My husband's celery root and pumpkin soup was also delicious. The place in beautiful and the service is one of the best in San Juan. I highly recommend it! "

  • "From beginning to end, a fantastic experience. - beautiful bar, with attentive and thoughtful staff - great table, gracious explanation of the menu and wines - prix fix bursting with delicious local favors - wine pairing that was perfection Can't wait to try the bar menu as well!! "

  • "The restaurant and hotel lounge are aesthetically beautiful yet warm and inviting. The staff is super attentive, professional and offer superior service. The food and dining experience was divine. The menu offerings has something for every type of eater and all of the courses were delicious! We will definitely be back many more times to come. "

  • "I had made my reservation in advanced, to find that I had to wait 30 minutes for my table. The food was consistently good. However it was not amazing. Dessert was amazing I had a coffee tiramisu that I would go back to. I love intense, pronounced flavors and this dish had just that. Service was very good,I found their wine list presentation on the Ipad, very cool. Did not like that the serves spoke amongst each other and I could hear them discussing various table status. I loved the ambiance of the restaurant, the decoration is very impressive. Over all it was very good."

  • "Can't believe that this restaurant is in a hotel that will not open until December 2014. This was wonderful. The food was great. Very easy to walk to from our hotel. This would have been a five star rating with one exception. After the after the last course before dessert, they forgot about us. Many different people had waited on us during the meal to the point that I really could not identify who was our primary waiter. After waiting ~30 minutes, I finally caught one of the men's attention with just an upturned wave of the hand, which implied "what about us". Then the good service started again. It was obvious that we had been dropped. The dessert was great. We took the four course meal for $75 each and the drinks were pricey. "

  • "Great menu selection. We chose the tasting menu and didn't go wrong with any of our choices. Restaurant was only about half full, so just enough to give some atmosphere without being too noisy. Service was very nice...left us to enjoy our dinner, but always right there if we needed them. The restaurant is in the Vanderbilt hotel...great pre-dinner cocktails. Rooms in the hotel won't be available for a few more months....the restaurant will really be busy then, I expect. "

  • "Who would have thought that the worlds next great restaurant would be in San Juan! With food that evoked memories of having dined at Robuchon, Daniel and Le Bernadin and set in, quite simply one of the most beautiful restaurants I've ever been in, 1919 is MUST for any foodies! When Chef Cuevas found out that we had been to a restaurant he had been at, he was kind enough to send out a complimentary course for us, which was salmon. Sadly neither my husband nor myself like salmon but we did not want to be rude so we tasted fish...and went on to devour it, it was simply amazing! Don't miss this place everything about it was dining perfection!!! Note, there is a dress code which we did not see on the website but fortunately they let us in."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at 1919. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We had the four course with wine pairings. The wine was AMAZING. We were irritated at ourselves the next day for not making note of some of the names. It was my birthday and they definitely made it special!"

  • "This is the best romantic restaurant in all of San Juan. My husband and I love coming here and cannot wait to get back to San Juan again. The setting is absolutely gorgeous. Service exceptional, love the champagne cart too"

  • "We dined for lunch a couple of weeks ago and returned for dinner this week. Both occasions were perfect in every way. Perfect sized portions, excellent presentations and food quality combine with superb service to set a new standard in Condado for elegant dining. "

  • "This restaurant is absolutely beautiful. The ambiance is perfect; the food and service however are a huge disappointment. Our appetizers were mediocre at best. The fish served was decent but at least in one case overcooked. The wagyu beef is disgraceful. For close to $50.00 I was given two minuscule chunks of meat. At most they consisted of three bites. One was a piece of tough tenderloin. The purported wagyu was an overcooked morsel a beef that tasted more like pot roast. This restaurant will not be able to ride on its ambiance. The food is simply not that good and the service was inattentive and slow."

  • "I'm from NY so it's hard to be wowed on food and service wine I am surrounded by the likes of Danny Meyer and Tom Collichio. I can not express how blown away my family was as we were very pleasantly surprised and wowed after each and every meal! The service was also impeccable, from the amazing wait staff to the fact that they greeted us upon arrival and had our cars waiting when we left without us telling them which were ours. Top 5 best meals in my life (just skip the cheese plate)."

  • "The menu of organic food looked and tasted amazing. We took our 3 year old (with an iPad and headphones as it was a bit quiet) and they were very accommodating. They rushed an order of pasta with butter and plain salmon for her. They also had the best bread which our daughter was happy to keep snacking on as we dined. The mojito was really tasty and the wine was lovely. The ocean view was beautiful. It is pricey but worth it. "

  • "We found this restaurant by accident, when looking for a cigar lounge. 1919 is located in the soon-to-be Condado Vanderbuilt Hotel which should open in late 2014. This restaurant was the most elegant restaurant in San Juan that we ate at. Service was fantastic. Food was incredible. The Tuna appetizer was amazing. They scored in all aspects of a successful restaurant! A well balanced menu with fish and meat and portions that support the 4 course price fixed menu, if you choose. We left feeling that this was the best meal we had in San Juan."

  • "My experience was fantastic from the minute I entered the Vanderbilt Hotel until the moment I left. The service was impeccable! The food and view were amazing! I want to thank Julio Delgado for taking the time out to give me a tour of the hotel."

  • "We have been vacationing in Puerto Rico for 22 years. Each year we try to find one restaurant to have our special dinner. We will look no further!! This place was perfect!! The food, wine, and service were awesome!! Can't wait to return next year!!"

  • "This place is gorgeous. It has great history and bone structure. The service is impeccable but the food is very uneven and at the moment not worth the significant investment. My date and I did the price fix four course and the appetizers and desserts were good and inventive. I had a cold sautéed eggplant with clams dish that was quite good. The pasta and main courses were much less impressive though. Pasta was over salted and undercooked (no, that's not al dente) and the main course was a forgettable undercooked veal chop that wasn't advertised as boneless. It's going to get better I think but at the moment, call back the Commodore for some help!"

  • "Like many fine restaurants, the service is attentive, and the atmosphere with the ocean view relaxing. The manager on duty that evening had a cold personality, but the charming hostesses more, then made up for the for this low point."

  • "The bar and restauant are beautiful and the only reason for the poor service rating is the unexplainable complete rudeness of the head waiter. We felt as if he thought he was a top waiter in Paris and it was a bother for him to be serving tourists in San Jaun. Other than that the staff was generally friendly."

  • "We started with drinks in the Vanderbilt Hotel's Varitas Wine Bar, mojito and an "Eastside" ( ucumber-infused Hendricks) both, exceptional as was a tuna tartare app and a lobster and caviar... if you go to 1919 for dinner, stop for a drink here first. We were escorted to 1919, a beautiful room, started with a Spanish white from Priorat, 2011 Clos D'Agon, then the '94 Rioja Alta 890 for meat courses. Yes, a "chicken soup" to start, which was unlike anything you have had, then we walked through a fusilli and rigatoni pastas, then to halibut, Wagyu beef and a coffee coated venison, and we both choose the Valrhona chocolate dessert - all great. BTW, I was typing this during Augustus Pablo's Up Warrika Hill song, a great old dub tune."

  • "That term is way overused today, I know, but this restaurant and future Vanderbilt Hotel really are just incredible! Very upscale, very high class, but not snobby or pretentious at all. From start to finish, the team of servers were extremely attentive but never hovering. All courses of our food were extraordinary, with the ravioli dish being the best pasta I have ever eaten. REALLY impressed with this hotel lobby and restaurant. I highly encourage all that want to experience a new level of dining in Puerto Rico, to try it!"

  • "A hotel restaurant in Condado, I didn't know what to expect despite very good reviews. I was very pleasantly surprised - 1919 was excellent start to finish. The food was all interesting and well prepared, the service was attentive without being intrusive, and the wine selection had very good choices at all price levels. One food issue was handled perfectly - both plates removed and replaced with newly prepared dishes - my wife did not have to have her food get cold while my issue was addressed and hers had not just been kept warm while my new dish was prepared. This is not an inexpensive restaurant, particularly if you order nice wine, but it is strongly recommended if you are looking for fine dining in Condado."

  • "We had been to 1919 when they first opened and were blown away by the food, service and atmosphere. On a very recent visit to San Jaun, we decided to see if 1919 was holding up to our memories of it. We are happy to report that 1919 is every bit as good as we remembered. Just walking into the restaurant is an event. The room is beautiful. Once seated you begin to realize you are in for a special night. The level of service in impeccable without being intrusive. As we started with glasses of champagne, a delicious amuse bouche arrived at the table. A favorite wine was selected. Each course was expertly prepared. Visually stunning, creative and most importantly delicious. This is a very special restaurant."
