1919 RestaurantGood service, beautiful RestaurantMy experience was ok. Excellent service and ambience. The food was average and too expensive. The rations were small but I expected that. The flavor was a little bland for my taste. Bread was superb! I had Lobster salad, Duck as main dish and as dessert a Pannacotta. From the three I liked the dessert. The salad and main dish were cooked perfectly but the flavor wasn't there.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful decor, professionalBeautiful decor, professional service, plate presentation wonderful, food first rate. Expensive but a great find.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AM1919--Extraordinary!!From the moment you walk in, you know you are about to experience something extraordinary. And then it only gets better. Standard of service is off the charts, attentive without being intrusive, and above all highly professional. The menu is creative, gastronomic excellence. We had the prix fixe, at $70 it is reasonably priced way to sample. I recommend the salmon. Excellent wine list with generous pours on the single glass selections. The champagne cart is a superb idea. We tried the brut rose and really enjoyed it. Don't miss it! We are going back again - twice in one week!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautifulGreat restaurant in the new Vanderbilt Hotel. We are vegetarian and had a great meal - the risotto with black truffle was amazing.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMI will never go back.We went to 1919 for our 8th Anniversary, although the service was very good (especially Jerry the sommelier, he was super nice)
on the other hand I do feel mislead and deceived, the reason I say this is because we were offer the chef
dining experience (where the head waitress comes and says that the chef cooks on especial occasions and that he is not sure what the chef is going to cook, or how many dishes he is going to create or how much money is going to cost) but that it is a unique experience one to remember for the rest of our life and we bought it since it was our anniversary.
too later reilazed that all dishes are pre made and no head chef made them,
we to close the chef dining experience short as I was ready to cut my loss4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful lobby and restaurant.Beautiful lobby and restaurant. Outstanding service! A unique atmosphere and best meal in San Juan.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWow! Wow! Wow!!!! BEST EVER!!!I've been an Open Table user for years now and this is the first time that I feel compelled to write about a restaurant. WOW!!! What a place! The hotel that this restaurant is in is absolutely breathtaking and utterly elegant. The bar is fabulous and overlooks the ocean. The entire restaurant from the food, ambiance, service, luxury is TOP NOTCH and absolutely the VERY BEST I've ever experienced. No snobbery...just a passion for excellence...Do NOT miss this once in a lifetime experience.......you won't regret it. Very soon this will be known as one of the top restaurants in the world, and then unfortunately, we probably won't be able to get a reservation again....So glad I had this chance!3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMIN LOVE..Luis is fabulous. His knowledge, description of the menu and presentation was superb. The food was a delightful, light airy sauces allowed the fish's full flavor to stand out. A truly unique dining experience. Surpassed every expectation. Boyfriend and I will be back again.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AM1919First Visit. Lots to say.. The room and hotel lobby are Gorgeous. Service was Fantastic 6 of us each got the Prixe Fixe at $70. First encounter was the Champagne offerings...This was a turn off and seemed a bit much. It was not clear if our server, Neal was also the Maitre'd but he was very helpful as was the server Neil (they joked about who spelled it right) the bread server was great as were his offerrings lavash and onion rolls the best. Multiple tastes compliments of the chef were a very nice touch. The starters and 1st courses Soup, tuna and pastas were all delightful, the Entres needed some refining, The halibut was great! the veal loin and cheek...cheeks were delish loin was undercooked, too much skin on bass3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMi was wowed from the momenti was wowed from the moment the valet opened my car door. the level of attention is amazing without being fastidious. we opted for the chef's choice (where we told the waiter what we don't like went off menu) and highly recommend it.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful experienceWonderful experience. Staff was very attentive. Eduardo the captain was very entertaining. We had the chefs tasting menu and most of the dishes were very good. Wine pairing was spot on except for one course. Will be back.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMA TOP FINE DINING EXPERIENCEMy review after my first visit to 1919 was all 5 stars, outstanding in every way. At that time I said that 1919 is "certainly one of Puerto Rico's best!... Highly recommended".
Thus, on my second visit my expectations were very high. And 1919 was even better than the first time. My friend and I each ordered a four course prix fixe dinner, in which we were able to choose among several alternatives for each course. All dishes served to both of us were outstanding, extraordinary, as was also the service that we received from captain Eduardo and his team. In what he does, Eduardo is the best.
1919 is Puerto Rico's top restaurant for truly fine dining; and it compares favorably with top restaurants in Paris and New York. Do not miss 1919.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWOW, this is a great restaurant,WOW, this is a great restaurant, certainly one of Puerto Rico's best! Do not miss 1919 if you like haute cuisine, served in an elegant , spacious setting by an attentive but not obtrusive staff. Dress code is upscale casual. 1919 is truly an outstanding restaurant. Highly recommended.2/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic dinner. We did theFantastic dinner. We did the chef's prix fixe dinner with a wine pairing and what an experience. From the amuse bouche--a clear tomato broth--to hamachi served on a thin piece of octopus to a sous vide salmon, and a spectacular cauliflower dish, to the finale--a cochinita course, so perfect, unlike any I have ever had. All served with wines that matched perfectly. All the details were of the level you'd expect. In fact, I'd go back for the onion rolls. My guess is that this brand-new restaurant with its superstar chef will be a destination when the hotel opens.2/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
