Diner Reviews
  • "Loved the food! Interesting and stylish presentation, wonderful flavors, also texture and consistencies were perfect. The Miami spice menu is fantastic! There is a lot of food you get for free, like the warm focaccia bread with these little buttery things(ridiculously good) etc. and the menu was just so delicious. Worth every penny. I wana go back! 1826 definitely lived up to its hype :). Highly recommend it. Oh and the drinks are great too!"

  • "Went for the Miami Spice listed on Saturday, but was told they do not serve it after 8PM. Wanted to try that menu however ordered off the regular menu and was quite pleased. Although portions are quite small, the taste and flavor was there. Service left much to be desired but they did not add their tip which is so common. Overall would definitely go back."

  • "Dinner last night was fantastic experience from beginning to end! We were seated promptly and immediately greeted by our enthusiastic, friendly and most competent waiter, Frabrizo. He guided us through delicious menu choices. Cudos, also, to the sommelier. Every dish was exquisitely plated and delicious. Our favorites were the delicately wrapped Florida Shrimp Roasted, the Foie Gras Pave and the Florida Avocado Salad. The Tuna Tartare was less interesting. The sauces and emulsions were truly delicious. Main courses were equally wonderful, our favorites being the Halibut and the Short Rib. All courses are plated to share and they all were so delicious, everyone wanted to taste everything. 1826 is a real find & I can't wait to go back!"

  • "Let me start by saying that the place is very clean and sleek. The manager was excellent & setup our small group to dine at one of the 3rd floor lounge tables, which would've been nice for drinks only but music was a bit loud for dinner. Our server was great & very sweet! The food left a lot to be desired especially for the price point. I know it's Miami beach, but we had much better luck at other establishments. Food a bit salty and plate size is very small. Dishes were a bit boring in taste & prep vs what I expected from other reviews. We were a bit surprised to get our bill with a 23% service charge (tip) already attached. I understand adding on gratuity in a touristy area but 23% is excessive. All in all, seek other options for dinner"

  • "Our waitress was bubbly, abrupt & inept. We had to ask for the miami spice menu, which actually looked great, but wasn't ! We were a party of 5 cramped into a table for 4 & bullied by a team of busboys that couldn't clear the table without elbowing us in the face each & every time. It became really annoying, as they cleared plates that weren't finished & couldn't wipe the table! The food is scored accordingly, leek croquettes 9 /10, hen egg 2/10 for presentation, beef tartare 0/10 Alaskan halibut cold and bland 4/10 seafood curry over seasoned & tiny 4/10 Garganelli pasta with truffles 6/10 chicken 8/10 desserts 10/10 service 2/10 bill ridiculous with 18% added in, manager 10/10 for dealing with our vacationing waitress & late desserts !"

  • "This was the last night of a two week vacation and we were looking for a nice place. We found 1826 and chose it for proximity to our hotel. Good thing we were staying nearby. The food and service were amazing. My wife and I loved how the food was served as it was ready, so though some things might have been a bit out of order, the food was the right temperature each time. Never mind. It was extraordinary. And the service was impeccable; very attentive without being intrusive. I'd highly recommend this restaurant to anyone staying in South Beach, even if it required a drive!"

  • "The food was beautifully presented, very artistic. Everything we tried was delicious, although I would have liked a bit more sauce with the short rib. If you're looking for excellent, modern food in a swanky venue, I recommend this place. On a Wed night the place was dead till 9:30pm. I'm sure the weekends are livelier. Our server was like a salesperson. He recommended we order more than we needed, the most expensive items, etc. Very unpleasant. The food is clearly presented in a "modern" way like 3 cubes of foie gras with perfect disks of gelée on top. It's a style, but I find it draws a lot of attention to itself. Overall, good food, but feels self-important."

  • "We spent a great evening in this restaurant at 2nd floor whilst at 3rd there's a fantastic lounge bar for after dinner (maybe not so early if you don't want to be alone). Great service and very good wine list even if with prices a little bit high in my opinion. Three different kind of menus: veggie, seafood and beef. We focused on fish and tried a great king salmon tartare, pasta vongole (Italian plate even if with short pasta instead of long, definitely better), and halibut (fantastic flavor and softness) Also dessert was great (chocolate brownie with ice cream at grand marnier). Prices in line with the quality and standards of Miami: worthy. Thanks for the great service (even if automatically inserted in the check at 18%)"

  • "The food was amazing try the lamb. The service was not that great. We had to wait what I consider an excisive amount of time for our table. No apologies or accommodations .. The waitress while attentive at first and had knowledge of the menu was lost doing something else for a long time . We had to finally call another waiter to order our dessert. The Service definitely must improve. The food is amazing."

  • "The restaurant is very noisy but fun for a group(we were 6). Service was excellent(they took excellent care of my husband who has severe food allergies), except for the sommelier. Our waitress recommended 3 dishes per person to share but it really depends on what you pick. Also, we ordered gaspacho which came in a one serving portion and we were really unsure how to share it. We ended up having way too much food. The truffles served were not up to par with expectations, they really lacked the aroma and flavor of truffle. Overall, it was a very good experience, most dishes were flavorful and original, but to charge this amount for food you need to be excellent."

  • "South Beach is famous for the best of everything, so I knew we would not be disappointed--however this was beyond my imagination. Each dish was a masterpiece--unique, fresh, rich, balanced. Each taste was memorable, lingering on the tongue and the mind, an immersion in the best flavors and textures I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. From the food to the staff to the atmosphere, it was a true joy to dine here."

  • "Sleek decor, lots of windows & a smallish dining room; the atmosphere is definitely on the romantic / intimate side. The menu is listed in three columns: The Harvest, The Hook, The Hunt or vegetarian, seafood, and everything else (beef, chicken, pork, etc.). The menu is also arranged from smallest portion to largest portion as you work your way down the menu. All items are designed to be shared among the table. The waiter recommended that for 2 people dining, 4 - 6 items would be appropriate mixing smaller dishes, larger dishes, and in-between. For something rich but amazing, definitely try the Wild Morel Mushroom Ragout. The surprise hit of the night was the side of Roasted Cauliflower. So. Good. The Wild Alaskan Halibut was also amazing."

  • "This is a great addition to Collins Avenue. The food is beautifully presented and delicious. The flavor combinations are creative. We had the morel mushroom ragout which was incredible. The leek croquettes were delicate yet full of flavor. The sweet corn pasta was very satisfying. We finished with the halibut. Perfect meal. The service was attentive and polite. We will definitely go back when we are in Miami. I've already recommended it to friends."

  • "Stay away from this trap. The execution of the dishes is pretentious and amateur. This place will close by the end of the summer."
    Dined on 7/9/2014
  • "The food is exquisite. I loved the tasting experience (the small portions enables you to taste various options from the menu). However the dessert (hazelnut ganache) was plain. Nonetheless the ambiance is great with dim light and glass walls."

  • "My wife and I stay frequently at the W South Beach just around the corner. We are always looking for restaurants in walking distance for days we don't want to go too far. I found this place through TripAdvisor. Unfortunately, I should have listened to the recommendations of the concierge at the hotel. The place was fairly empty when we arrived, which made it even more annoying that we were brought drinks we didn't order, which ended up on our bill anyway. We still ordered a bottle of wine and several appetizers. Everything was bland, so we bailed before even ordering an entree. I should have just sucked it up and taken a cab to somewhere decent."

  • "The menu is divided into small vs large(r) portions. Chose the YOUNG chicken from the larger side and it was 3 pieces of chicken. The menu itself (layout and concept) is a bit overdone.. i GET the concept but it seems like a little bit of a gimmick to get us to order a lot. I think anyone coming to this restaurant will order many dishes anyway. So might be better to not divide the menu because the 'large' portion always sounds like too much. And so at the end...we ended up ordering too little... Great atmosphere and the upper management staff was great. The maitre D was not at front for a while so was a bit confused.. And also it takes a bit to long to get handed the menu it seems... just bring it with the water. :)"

  • "The waiter paid no attention to us. Even when we got there we had to wait 30mins for our table. It took forever to get a drink and bill. Overated rest"
    Dined on 6/14/2014
  • "The food was truly unusual in its concept and preparation. The descriptions are very detailed by the staff. The portions are petite and expensive. Tapas seems to be the trend in South Beach nearly everywhere notable. Wait staff tries to get you to order multiple items at once per person. This is not necessary and may cause you to over order. We were satisfied with substantially less items than were suggested and we are hearty eaters. This is a great special occasion place. We celebrated an anniversary there. Most definitely worth it. Would absolutely go back again."

  • "So far I have tried 12 dishes of the Menu and every one of them is better than the last one. You'd wish they sell the Beef Tartar in boxes of 30 cones to eat while watching TV at home. If you like to go clubbing, there is a two floor lounge upstairs. A good thing is that the restaurant floor is completely apart from the lounge, so the loud music won't bother you. Good service, five stars for knowing every dish in the menu and what is made of and the price is just exactly what you pay for intelligently prepared and great-tasting food."

  • "The first thing I noticed at 1826 was the overwhelming noise level. I had to sit next to my date rather than across as to be able to speak without screaming at each other. The waiter was nice enough, but we remained with empty water glasses after our first cups for the entire dinner. The bathrooms were reminiscent of those on a dirty airplane, smelled horrendous and were messy at best. The food was phenomenal with the exception of the strawberry dessert which tasted of stale, dry fruity pebbles. The dessert, aside from being a disappointment compared to the rest of the dinner, took a full 30 minutes to arrive without explanation or apology. Perhaps if we came on a different day of the week the experience would be different. "

  • "Although the food was good, the portions were incredibly small - even for small plates. The hot food including the risotto and the steak did not come to the table hot , they were just room temp. We found the dishes very overpriced and it did not feel like a good value. When asked what type of water we wanted, we never heard the words "tap water", but rather still water which we agreed upon- imagine our shock when we saw there was an additional $16 on the bill! Is this a high end restaurant for foodies or a scene for hipsters - the bar/lounge on the third floor suggests the latter... Perhaps offer more fun small plates at better price points... As small plates go, I would choose Zuma every time -even with the expense! "

  • "The food was very good and its presentation outstanding. Don't go expecting large portions as with typical Miami establishments. The experience is all about quality versus quantity. We ordered various plates: Short Ribs, Lobster, Croquettes, Risotto and the Tuna. All were very good and the bread rolls were exceptional! "

  • "A blah dining experience. The service was ok, the food tasted good but there was nothing about this restaurant that sets it apart from other expensive dining options in SoBe. In fact when you are paying well over $100 per person for dinner it's just plain annoying to find hard plastic dining room chairs and tables without table cloths. Enough. "

  • "Not often you find a new place, hot bar scene, Miami Beach, that still does food well. Presentation of dishes as good as taste, and service spot on. "

  • "Great food, small portions (a person has to order 4 entries, HONESTLY! to feel full) in addition to an appetizer and desert. Each costs around $25 - $50. The view is awful - looks onto busy Collins Street and a boring apartment building right next door. Food is terrific and creative but you pay through your nose to enjoy it. Have to wak up a long flight of stairs or take an elevator to get to it. Chairs are plastic and cafeteria style. No elegance. No table cloths to cover cheap looking tables. Pretentious to the hilt! Not romantic at all. Take others you want to impress with your money and wealth. No charm."
