The atmosphere is fantastic, feels like you are eating in a space ship. The waitstaff is well meaning but not fully trained. There was no one at the door to greet us, we headed upstairs to the main dining room and the sommelier told us the hostess was seating someone else. The restaurant was pretty empty, and after she radioed the hostess to check on our reservation we were seated. We were still waiting for 2 more, when no less then 3 different waitstaff, kept trying to take away the other place settings without asking us. Our main waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu. He explained that the dishes are mostly small plates and meant to share. Or as one in our party lamented at the end " the chef figured out how to maximize profits, by having us order lots of small plates, with high prices and still feel u satisfied in the end." The yellowfin, was 5 one inch slices, risotto was large enough for 4 but watery, chicken was tasty, but only had 3 slices, duck was good, but again most of it was missing. The salad was good as well. The wine list was 4x with an uninspiring selection. The somiler said they are due to receive me elections in Time for Art Basel. Well that begins in 5 days. We had heard mixed reviews from friends and now we know why. Compared to Zuma and The Bazaar who both have great atmospheres, serve small plates, small price point, 1826 lacks and needs to fix a few things so that it can be like the others. I hope to give it another try when they get their act together.

Great food from the very beginning. We ordered the Prosciutto croquettes and beef tartar as starters, both were great bites. With the recommendation from our server Steve, we ordered the lobster risotto and a pasta with chicken liver as entrees. Pasta was well cooked and the combination of flavors was like a party in your mouth. Lobster risotto was spectacular as well.

1826 was spot on for the beautiful space, professional wait staff and outstanding food. Additionally, the innovative treatment of the different cuisines represented not only heightened the taste experience, but proves that there is always room for subtle improvement to a dish. It will be a "go to" Miami Beach dining experience for me.

INCREDIBLE! Happy hour was treated to complimentary champagne and enjoyed delicious cocktails made by their very approachable and well-trained bartenders! Great appetizer of Croquettes filled with a chive-creme and prosciutto. Dining Room - So romantic and intimate! Beautiful but very sleek and cool at the same time! We were seated by the window overlooking Collins Ave and Miami Art Deco buildings. DUCK - A trio of roasted and fried duck skin, melt in your mouth, earthy and juicy goodness. One of my favorite red meats! SWORDFISH - My personal favorite of the night! The cut swordfish was the "Filet Mignon" of seafood. Topped off with heirloom tomatoes and a very generous portion!

There was nothing terrible about this restaurant but there was also nothing to rave about---other than the fresh bread that was served. The food was just Okay and the menu was extremely limited. Our Tuna crudo dish was disappointingly "spare". The Caesar salad was different and pretty enjoyable. I would not tell someone not to try the restaurant but with all the great restaurants selections in Miami I will not be going back.

Overall had a great time here. We were from NYC and Chicago. We felt the menu was novel approach and most the items were very good and very well executed. The waiter's suggestion for 3-4 plates person is a bit overkill. Portions weren't that small. This does allow you keep it lighter and taste right from the stop, but there was nothing small about the bottom menu items. Thought it odd that there wasn't another table seated 8pm, but I gathered Miami Beach is different from where we're from. The chef is very talented and the room well laid out. If I had one gripe is that there was a group placed directly next to us in an otherwise nearly empty room. They were loud but it isn't restaurant's fault. Definetly worth a visit though!

We have been in this neighborhood many times for dinner, and this is another gem to add to the area. The food was delicious- we started with the potato leek croquets and they were the most delicate croquets I have ever had. The king crab salad was delicious and we shared an entree which was a pasta dish- fantastic!! We ended with a cheese plate and it was very good. They served 3 varieties of cheese with bread- wow! We will definately be going back to this one.

Go for the ambiance, Go for the location, Go for the lounge (very classy). The equation of the expense for the "dinner" does not come close to matching the expected quality and portion size, lower quality and small portions. Yes we frequent South Beach restaurants and by comparison the culinary side of 1826 could use an upgrade.

Food was ok I have had better meals at a fraction of the cost of this little noisy concept venue. The noise level prohibited any possibility of conversation which made it very uncomfortable and not as enjoyable as it should have been. Our server was the best part (tall German dude) although we felt he did try to up sell things. Everyone of the staff was very friendly and accommodating. However, been here done that cross off bucket list, Check!

Went for the Miami Spice menu. Arrived early and were seated in the bar. A gorgeous space with high ceilings, modern chandeliers and beautiful views of the Art Deco buildings all around. A fantastic sophisticated atmosphere. Drinks were highly inventive and delicious, as were the bar appetizers. The dining room is another modern gem, with similar beautiful views. Surprisingly intimate, not a huge operation. So, we finally get to see what 2 Michelin stars means, and it means a lot! This great, moderately priced menu rated as one of the most delicious restaurant meals we have had, anywhere! The service was as good as the food and atmosphere! It was a wonderful anniversary dinner!

1826 is a good alternative for dinning out in South Beach. The food is on par with a number of other higher end restaurants in the area. Decent meal with fresh ingredients, but nothing that will blow your socks off. The wine list is very good and offers a number of options at decent prices. Not sure I will be going back.

I thought 1826 was good. The wait staff minus our waiter was very attentive. Out waiter was a little pompous though and slightly condescending. He dropped menus off and said 3 times he will be back to explain the menu. He came back 15 minutes later and stood with his pad in silence. My wife and I looked at each other "well I guess he's waiting for our order". It was very strange and to be honest pretty uncomfortable. We proceeded to order and after a few minutes we realized we didn't order correctly. You see the plates are small and most of the people around us ordered multiple dishes to share. If the waiter maybe gave us that suggestion it would have been welcomed.

To summarize, food is good. Flavors are on par. We had avocado salad, leek croquets, vongole, poached lobster/crab, and rabbit terrine. Pastas were unfortunatly not fresh pasta, kind of a waste of ingredients and flavor. Do go if you want relatively polished food, as this place is one of the better places in miami. Don't expect the place to blow your mind however, as the menu formula doesn't take risks, and doesn't offer much to those who live in cities like NYC, SF, Seattle, or LA. Some quirks I noticed with service: Dirty white step stools for ladies' purses, for being modern and upscale, this cheapens the restaurant. I saw a lady at a neighboring table holding her tote for the entire dinner service rather than putting it down.

I've never written a restaurant review before, but they earned it. 23% automatic gratuity gets you: a very awkward first table in the back, cocktails after 20 minutes then your bottle of wine and every other item ordered simultaneously only a few minutes thereafter, condescending service from your second waitress and hostess, music volume that makes conversation impossible (which your neighbors overcome by screaming for 2 hours) and a 15 minute wait for your car. The highlight was hearing that we weren't nuts from another shell-shocked party that had been waiting on their car for 20 minutes. If you're going for the food, and not to impress a vapid date, take a cab and avoid sobriety.

This has been by far the worst dinning experience I have had in Miami beach. Reservations were made for 10pm we were not seated until 11pm, after being seated it took ten minutes to be given a menu. After our terrible dinning experience we were told that the valet was open until 3am, we came to valet at 2:30am and our car was gone we were told to take a cab to another address to receive our car. After being quoted a 20$ price we took a cab to another location to get our car. We were then up charged an additional 15$ dollars to get our car. After such a horrible dinning experience with a bill total of 300$ for three people we will never ever return to 1826 and recommend no one else to do so either.

There is a lot of food you get for free, like the warm focaccia bread with these little buttery things(ridiculously good) etc. and the menu was just so delicious. Worth every penny. I wana go back! 1826 definitely lived up to its hype :). Highly recommend it. Oh and the drinks are great too!
