Diner Reviews
  • "South Beach is famous for the best of everything, so I knew we would not be disappointed--however this was beyond my imagination. Each dish was a masterpiece--unique, fresh, rich, balanced. Each taste was memorable, lingering on the tongue and the mind, an immersion in the best flavors and textures I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. From the food to the staff to the atmosphere, it was a true joy to dine here."

  • "Sleek decor, lots of windows & a smallish dining room; the atmosphere is definitely on the romantic / intimate side. The menu is listed in three columns: The Harvest, The Hook, The Hunt or vegetarian, seafood, and everything else (beef, chicken, pork, etc.). The menu is also arranged from smallest portion to largest portion as you work your way down the menu. All items are designed to be shared among the table. The waiter recommended that for 2 people dining, 4 - 6 items would be appropriate mixing smaller dishes, larger dishes, and in-between. For something rich but amazing, definitely try the Wild Morel Mushroom Ragout. The surprise hit of the night was the side of Roasted Cauliflower. So. Good. The Wild Alaskan Halibut was also amazing."

  • "Terrific addition to South Beach, great concept, great food and the best service I have had in over three years of living in Miami. Congrats."

  • "This was actually my third time to 1826. The food is always outstanding, service is attentive but never obtrusive. They had a few new items on the menu that are great additions! Can't wait to go back soon."

  • "A great restaurante. The food was perfect :-) also the service."

  • "This is a great addition to Collins Avenue. The food is beautifully presented and delicious. The flavor combinations are creative. We had the morel mushroom ragout which was incredible. The leek croquettes were delicate yet full of flavor. The sweet corn pasta was very satisfying. We finished with the halibut. Perfect meal. The service was attentive and polite. We will definitely go back when we are in Miami. I've already recommended it to friends."

  • "Stay away from this trap. The execution of the dishes is pretentious and amateur. This place will close by the end of the summer."
    Dined on 7/9/2014
  • "The food is exquisite. I loved the tasting experience (the small portions enables you to taste various options from the menu). However the dessert (hazelnut ganache) was plain. Nonetheless the ambiance is great with dim light and glass walls."

  • "The restaurant decor was very cool, with a nice view of Collins. The waitress was very friendly and informative, the food was delicious, and the music was energetic and fun."

  • "Great menu, everything is to be shared, so that everything can be tasted."

  • "They know about Coustumer Service!! Amazing food, great wines!! They just open, for sure they will be the best restaurant in Miami."

  • "My wife and I stay frequently at the W South Beach just around the corner. We are always looking for restaurants in walking distance for days we don't want to go too far. I found this place through TripAdvisor. Unfortunately, I should have listened to the recommendations of the concierge at the hotel. The place was fairly empty when we arrived, which made it even more annoying that we were brought drinks we didn't order, which ended up on our bill anyway. We still ordered a bottle of wine and several appetizers. Everything was bland, so we bailed before even ordering an entree. I should have just sucked it up and taken a cab to somewhere decent."

  • "The menu is divided into small vs large(r) portions. Chose the YOUNG chicken from the larger side and it was 3 pieces of chicken. The menu itself (layout and concept) is a bit overdone.. i GET the concept but it seems like a little bit of a gimmick to get us to order a lot. I think anyone coming to this restaurant will order many dishes anyway. So might be better to not divide the menu because the 'large' portion always sounds like too much. And so at the end...we ended up ordering too little... Great atmosphere and the upper management staff was great. The maitre D was not at front for a while so was a bit confused.. And also it takes a bit to long to get handed the menu it seems... just bring it with the water. :)"

  • "The waiter paid no attention to us. Even when we got there we had to wait 30mins for our table. It took forever to get a drink and bill. Overated rest"

  • "The food was truly unusual in its concept and preparation. The descriptions are very detailed by the staff. The portions are petite and expensive. Tapas seems to be the trend in South Beach nearly everywhere notable. Wait staff tries to get you to order multiple items at once per person. This is not necessary and may cause you to over order. We were satisfied with substantially less items than were suggested and we are hearty eaters. This is a great special occasion place. We celebrated an anniversary there. Most definitely worth it. Would absolutely go back again."

  • "So far I have tried 12 dishes of the Menu and every one of them is better than the last one. You'd wish they sell the Beef Tartar in boxes of 30 cones to eat while watching TV at home. If you like to go clubbing, there is a two floor lounge upstairs. A good thing is that the restaurant floor is completely apart from the lounge, so the loud music won't bother you. Good service, five stars for knowing every dish in the menu and what is made of and the price is just exactly what you pay for intelligently prepared and great-tasting food."

  • "Thought the service and the ambiance was amazing. The food was excellent. The portions were a bit small for me but they are small plates. Excellent views of Miami and first class service."

  • "The first thing I noticed at 1826 was the overwhelming noise level. I had to sit next to my date rather than across as to be able to speak without screaming at each other. The waiter was nice enough, but we remained with empty water glasses after our first cups for the entire dinner. The bathrooms were reminiscent of those on a dirty airplane, smelled horrendous and were messy at best. The food was phenomenal with the exception of the strawberry dessert which tasted of stale, dry fruity pebbles. The dessert, aside from being a disappointment compared to the rest of the dinner, took a full 30 minutes to arrive without explanation or apology. Perhaps if we came on a different day of the week the experience would be different. "

  • "Although the food was good, the portions were incredibly small - even for small plates. The hot food including the risotto and the steak did not come to the table hot , they were just room temp. We found the dishes very overpriced and it did not feel like a good value. When asked what type of water we wanted, we never heard the words "tap water", but rather still water which we agreed upon- imagine our shock when we saw there was an additional $16 on the bill! Is this a high end restaurant for foodies or a scene for hipsters - the bar/lounge on the third floor suggests the latter... Perhaps offer more fun small plates at better price points... As small plates go, I would choose Zuma every time -even with the expense! "

  • "The food was very good and its presentation outstanding. Don't go expecting large portions as with typical Miami establishments. The experience is all about quality versus quantity. We ordered various plates: Short Ribs, Lobster, Croquettes, Risotto and the Tuna. All were very good and the bread rolls were exceptional! "

  • "A blah dining experience. The service was ok, the food tasted good but there was nothing about this restaurant that sets it apart from other expensive dining options in SoBe. In fact when you are paying well over $100 per person for dinner it's just plain annoying to find hard plastic dining room chairs and tables without table cloths. Enough. "

  • "Not often you find a new place, hot bar scene, Miami Beach, that still does food well. Presentation of dishes as good as taste, and service spot on. "

  • "Great food, small portions (a person has to order 4 entries, HONESTLY! to feel full) in addition to an appetizer and desert. Each costs around $25 - $50. The view is awful - looks onto busy Collins Street and a boring apartment building right next door. Food is terrific and creative but you pay through your nose to enjoy it. Have to wak up a long flight of stairs or take an elevator to get to it. Chairs are plastic and cafeteria style. No elegance. No table cloths to cover cheap looking tables. Pretentious to the hilt! Not romantic at all. Take others you want to impress with your money and wealth. No charm."

  • "We know Danny Grant's cuisine from Chicago and when we found out that he opened a restaurant in Miami we had to try. Our favorite in Miami !!!!"

  • "I'm not a huge eater, but this restaurant serves the tiniest portions of food I've ever had. My husband and I went with another couple on Saturday night. For an appetizer, my husband and I ordered the salmon tartar. When the waiter brought it over, we thought it was a joke. There were four tiny cones with a dollop of salmon. The two bites we each had were delicious though. Then for entrees we had the chicken and halibut. Each dish came with approximately 3 ounces of protein with a small garnish. To be fair, everything tasted delicious, but the portion sizes were comical. Also, our waiter was very rude."

  • "I am not from Miami but I have been traveling there a lot lately for business. Every time I am town I make a point to have dinner at 1826. It is not only an incredible restaurant but it has a great club scene later in the evening."

  • "The food and service were great. Our entrees and appetizers were really delicious. When you think about the food days later you know it was not only good, but truly devine. We ate in the main dining area on the second floor. Had a drink before dinner in the lounge area that is two floors. Such a cool vibe. Love the wine list on a tablet, great idea! Would return in a heartbeat!"

  • "Food is very good while dinners become hoarse talking over the noise of other diners. The music was not loud! The service was inattentive. Nearly impossible to get refills of wine, bread, soda. Our waiter disappeared and was just a inefficient order taker. Parking is a disaster. We waited 45 minutes for our car when the restaurant did not seem busy. We drove away and realized the valet did not leave the smart key in the car and we had to return to the restaurant to get the key back. At 2 in the morning our garage security called us and said our lights were on. The valet switched the lights to on from the automatic mode. There are so many good and great restaurants to choose from in South Beach that a local does not have to dine here. "

  • "I'm late getting to this review after a couple of months, but I would highly recommend this restaurant. Great food, drink and service. Atmosphere was very cool. If you want a great experience and want to get away from the usual tourist traps on SoBe, then hurry on over to 1826. You won't be disappointed."

  • "Deemed "flat" water, they use $8 bottles of Voss. We thought it was, you know, regular water that you get for free at every restaurant on earth. But no, we ended up getting charged $16 for water. We were given two options: sparkling or flat water. I suppose we needed to ask for tap or ice water - how could we know? Food was good, but the sneaky water situation put a damper on the whole experience."

  • "I came to Miami from NYC for a friends birthday. We made reservations for 1826 as we had seen the great reviews. 1826 did not disappoint. The restaurant is beautiful and the environment was exactly what we were looking for. The service was great, but the food was the main attraction. Everything was so creative and delicious, presentation phenomenal. I find that most places in Miami are pretty predictable, but this was something unique and different. We were in a group and it was great to all share things. I would definitely come here on a date as well. Looking forward to returning."

  • "I read that there was a good chef in charge of this restaurant and there is talent and flavor behind some of the dishes, but the dishes were very small and expensive and just not worth the money they charge. Add in typical South Beach service that does not really care about your dining experience and this just becomes unfortunately another overhyped place. The place tries to be modern and hip, but in the end the place just has no character and soul. Your hard-earned money is better spent at other locations in this town."

  • "Inovative dishes and perfect quality! New concept to share and taste different plates is a superb idea. Professional and excellent service.. Unfortunately the restaurant is very noisy and the seats are extremely uncomfortable ! Especially the sofas! I suppose the interior architect who designed this trendy restaurant, never tried to seat for 2 hours on it."
