They didn't let us down. Everything was delicious and the service was outstanding. If you haven’t had a chance to eat here you really must give it a try. The weather was great and we really enjoyed it. The food was different and good and we each got different wine that we had not tried before and all were very good.

From the food to the service & ambience, everything was "top-notch". Our server, Jen, very aptly described, and recommended, dishes that were exactly as she said. Jason, the owner, personally delivered a birthday cake to us, and was very congenial, and wanted to assure that our meal & experience was satisfactory. The atmosphere was warm and energetic. The food was great. There were so many items that sounded delicious so it was hard to choose. In the end, the ribeye was pretty amazing- cooked perfectly with a great hickory flavor. We were treated with an amuse bouche before the meal and our service was top notch throughout. He's the nicest person and knows how to run a kitchen (with a great staff). We had a very enjoyable meal and tried a good sample of the menu. The soft shelled crabs were excellent. I love those sweet nuggets of crab meat, one of the best treats you can have. And the bacon marmalade with the BBQ shrimp -- that's a new favorite. Even though I live in Raleigh I hadn't heard of 18 Seaboard - perhaps because I avoid Tyler's Tap Room (the neighbor) at all costs.
The food was very good with a southern flair (i.e. cracklin pork), the ambiance was great and the noise level was perfect. Perhaps most impressive, the service was truly excellent. I'd even go so far as to say generous! The GM (Bryan) ensured we had a great experience. He even went so far as to bring by various items we didn't order so we could try them. Very nice.

I am a very selective person when it comes to food and I have to say our meal was cooked to a very high level. It was presented well and quite tasty. The manager was making rounds through the dining room offering suggestions, making sure everyone was happy, and serving small bits directly from the chefs to "wet" the appetite. All of the proteins were cooked to perfection in our table of 6. The vegetables were over-cooked and bland (spinach and bok choy). We tasted a little bit of everything and ate from each other's plates. Both the she-crab soup and the blue crab hoppin' john could contain more crab. Pork shank was delicious. I ordered a steak to share with my sone (who is a year old), and it was very tasty! We ordered the lamb belly for an appetizer, which my husband LOVED. The entire staff was very understanding and friendly to our one year old who was getting a little tired of being there after a while, and I didn't feel like we were rushed at all to get out of there or nervous if we needed walk him around. Its definitely a nicer restaurant that I would highly recommend, but its also a place to take the kids if they're good eaters. I loved that the maitre D was so accommodating as I called to see if we could arrive early and when we walked in they said my name and made me and my party feel at home. And the entree was great. We had the grilled meatloaf and it was out of ths world. The. She crab soup I recommend over the onion soup, however.
