  • "I chose this restaurant for its reported ambiance and excellent food and service. We were not disappointed. The boned-in pork loin special was grilled to our desired level of doneness. The dish came with a delicate blood orange drizzle. We really enjoyed the rice grits side. This risotto-like dish was creamy and melted in our mouths. The others selected steak (filet and strip) and, again, were grilled perfectly. The cheddar grits for their side were highly recommend it for its taste and texture. One diner particularly enjoyed the 5-hour tomato butter. The wine list was extensive, but I wish I had more advice on selecting appropriate wines. The white was partially oxidized. Nonetheless, our dining experience was very enjoyable."

  • "The atmosphere and the decor was great. We had drinks at the bar while we waited to be seated. I'm really glad we made reservation. Very spacious inside, there were so many areas In one building. We requested a booth which Is very secluded. Really nice."

Tables are relatively close together, so you'll get some neighborhood noise, but then you could be sitting next to the governor and getting the scoop...food is not heavy for lunch, high quality and service is always excellent. I find it averages $14-18 for lunch, per person, sans dessert."

  • "So glad I made that reservation for Tuesday night, 4/8, initially thought it would be a slow night, boy was I wrong,Seaboard was doing a brisk business. The food here never disappoints,always outstanding & surprising. Staff is superb,checking in with us throughout the meal, but never hovering or rushing. We had the spinach salad, shrimp& grits, and the catfish--delicious; ended with the house made banana ice cream,also wonderful! And, I can't forget to mention the "extra goodies" sent out from the kitchen to taste while we waited for our dinners, the extra cookies with coffee, and the manager stopping by our table to greet us."

The food is very "foodie friendly" while not being too out there. They have a relatively short cocktail list but what they have is excellent. There's always a nice variety of appetizers and main courses and the service is very professonal but not stuffy."

  • "18 Seaboard was a delightful surprise as we were looking for dinner before a night at the theatre. What we found made it an evening of twin highlights. The meat and cheese boards were epicurean delights with a variety of different treats for the palate. The special drinks were delightful. My wife's steak was done to perfection. My duck was a blend of unique treasures. The desserts were a joy and the service was attentive but not intrusive."

The food is always excellent (highly dependable and consistent); the staff (from greeters to table service) members are genuinely kind and helpful; and they are responsive to "special" notes on the comments section of the reservation. The recent celebration of our niece's birthday was perfect! They mentioned her birthday and upcoming graduation, congratulated her, and even provided an unexpected dessert. Very enjoyable evening."

  • "I've always enjoyed 18 Seaboard but I'm starting to feel like they're in a rut. I would like more options, and I guess I'm over the country tries to be haute cuisine. My last two meals at 18 Seaboard just weren't what they used to be. And we used to always have excellent service there, but this time the service was poor. She wasn't there when we needed her. Never filled our water glasses. And was grabbing food off the table before we were finished. I felt like we were being rushed."

  • "A lively spot with attentive friendly service and very good food. We had the pork shank, and duck breast, each done with a bit of a twist from more traditional presentations and each delicious. Our waiter, Mark, was friendly, professional, and very helpful with his take on the menu. With an extensive wine list, Brian (the sommelier?), headed us to a reasonably priced wine we had not experienced before and he was right on. Looking forward to next time!"

Service is quite good, they check back twice and actually tell the manager who will listen if you have a suggestion and offer to replace something you don't like. This is not the place for a quiet meal but a good one. Prices are reasonable, not cheap, reasonable. You should like a southern flair, like grits, to your cooking. Despite the name, this is not solely seafood at all."

Our table was ready at the reserved time, the food was excellent and the service was good. The bartender who served us while we waited for our table -- we got there early -- was exceptionally nice as was the hostess. This continued through meal, from drinks to appetizers to dinner. All around, you can't go wrong with this restaurant; the food is superb and the price is a lot less than you can pay at other places in Raleigh for food that isn't as good."

  • "18 Seaboard is at the top of my list for dining in the Triangle. Reasons are simple--top quality food, beautiful preparation, and excellent service. The restaurant uses many local resources for fresh produce and meats, and the fish selections are always impressive. On my most recent visit I had the salmon which was perfectly prepared and the spinach and smashed red potatoes with goat cheese were perfect compliment. My guest also selected the salmon but had the grits with cheese and steamed spinach--she was absolutely delighted with her meal. I simply could not buy all the ingredients (spices, cheeses, sauces), and foods that go into the various selections for the price that 18 Seaboard offers on the lunch menu."

On this occasion, the food was excellent, although both portions of brisket, although very tasty, were quite fatty. Other entrees and salads were excellent. The reasonable prices always make this restaurant a top choice."

  • "Our waiter was superb but unfortunately both my husband and I had the Chet's special mahi mahi and given our physical reactions, the fish was not the freshest. :(. The tab was over $100 with 2 glasses of wine each, not including tip so we were disappointed to say the least. I don't like writing negative reviews but at that price, did not want to remain silent. Sorry 18Seaboard."

After talking with numerous coworkers, 18 Seaboard was the number one recommended place for Seafood. Our experience was very positive. The food, service, and overall experience were very good.
