17Hundred90 Inn and RestaurantAnniversary dinnerHad 7 pm res. time, arrived about 5:45. We were seated immediatedly. My wife's flowers were on the table when we walked to the table. We ordered champagne, salads, wife ordered the fried green tomatoes, I ordered the bushetta. Excellent choices. Main course was black and blue new York strip for the wife. I ordered the tiler, and both of these choices were excellent. If you can call ahead on the champagne that would be best.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous lunchOur server was polite and made very accurate, honest recommendations. The restaurant was very quiet (almost empty) which frightened me at first, but the food was excellent. I will certainly be back and will recommend 17hundred90 to friends!6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMPleasant for any and all occasionsThe food was excellent at 17Hundred90 Inn. The special, which was Prosciutto-wrapped Red Trout with an Orange Balsamic Glaze, was delicious, as was their signature salad and warm honey glazed biscuits. This is an historic inn with vintage brick interior walls and floor, and low wood beamed ceiling. A local musician, Gail Thurmond, played piano and sang a wide repertoire of standards and took requests. Her playing was wonderful, her singing great, and the volume for dinner was perfect. Our server was very knowledgeable and efficient, and others who attended our table, serving bread and filing water glasses were also good. We would go back in a minute, and would recommend it to anyone.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful evening! The service was excellent in both the bar and dining room. Nice back story of haunts to boost. Biscuits, She Crab Soup, Fried Green Tomatos and bread pudding were excellent. All else average but the service and atmosphere trumped that.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMAnn's BirthdayThe after dinner cake & ice cream was a special touch and the service was exceptional.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding! The restaurant ambience was beautiful and had a great history (supposedly haunted by 3 ghosts). Our server was attentive, friendly and very professional. The wine list was more than adequate and the menu was short, simple and offered interesting choices. I chose the Neptune Trio (crab cakes, scallops and shrimp with risotto and vegetable sides) which was simply one of the best entrees I have had in years. My wife chose the filet with smashed red potatoes which was also delicious. We had no room for desert but enjoyed coffee and conversation while the piano player worked in the far corner of the restaurant. I recommend this gem highly!5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat biscuits!Food was great, the biscuits served along with the meal will melt in your mouth! They use the same biscuits for their bread pudding, which you need to save room for this dessert!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMPleasant SurpriseHad never been to 17Hundred90 before so did not know what to expect. Was a very pleasant experience. Very warm greeting, excellent service, and a menu with a very good choice of foods. We all chose something different and just had to "share" a bite with each other because it was so delicious. Definitely will be back on next trip to Savannah.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMI have eaten there many timesI have eaten there many times when i visit savannah one of the best restaurant in savannah also good food & service5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely Mother's Day dinnerThe restaurant was off the beaten path of the Savannah tourism nonsense, which is what I wanted. The wait staff was wonderful - attentive, without being overwhelming. The food was delicious! Loved the ambience of the old inn, and even though there was a pianist playing and singing, it wasn't too loud; just nice.
Would definitely return there, again!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMperfect placeNo plastics or paper here just fine dining!
Absolutely the greatest waiters, knowledgeable
about the menu as well as the area. Quiet enough
to sit and enjoy your dinner & wine!
Locals love this restaurant! I will definitely be back!!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food servce and ambience.I took my spouse there for a birthday dinner. It was so romantic, they had a lady playing the piano was so nice. Service was excellent, just so great. I highly recommend for couples.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious! Our waiter did not steer us wrong. We all loved everything we ordered. The steak was perfectly cooked, the crab stew was amazing, and the service was quick. I can't wait to go back and try something else.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOld beautiful ResturantThis is a quiet place on a quiet street . The atmosphere is fantansic, food good, only complaint everything had either crab or shrimp on it except steak. Steak was good though so I was happy. It's s cool place with nice people5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesomeBest dinkng experience in a long time. Great portions, presentation, and service! What else could you ask for?5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, service & ambianceAs usual, we enjoyed the food, service and ambiance at 1790. The owners are very friendly and always take good care of us when we dine at 1790. Food is great, place was crowded, but it was intimate enough to enjoy a private conversation. Dinners are moderately priced.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMhaunting environmentFirst time dining here and was very impressed. Wonderful food and great atmosphere.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMJust rightThe service was quite excellent as was the food. Everything from the appetizers to the main course was prepared just right and made to order. The soft piano music in the background made it for an overall exceptional dining experience. I would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a unique, romantic and satisfying dining experience.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMSo much to say...We stayed at the inn and decided to try the restaurant our first night. Housed in a historic building, it is all brick and so quaint. Steven, our server was knowledgeable, personable and top-notch. We started with the shrimp 'n grits and the crab stew followed by a chicken dish and the special, a spotted grouper dish. The food was prepared perfectly. Steven was attentive but not overboard. A piano player tickled the ivories in the corner and it was all just so perfect. The associated bar is a bit of local hang-out but in a good way. Everybody was friendly and the bartender, Martha, makes great drinks!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMHistoric Inn with amazingHistoric Inn with amazing food and staff. Romantic atmosphere with a wonderful piano player. We will definately return on our next visit to Savannah.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMOur food was cooked perfectly. Our food was cooked perfectly. The staff were all exceptional. Great dining experience.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMA beautiful historic settingMy new husband and I dined here during our honeymoon. It was a Tuesday night at 9 so things were very quiet and romantic. Our waiter, Steven, was wonderful. He was very attentive and made us feel special. The exposed brick, common in many restaurants, felt even more relevant given the age of the inn.
The crab stew was delicious, and I kept eating the shrimp/scallop scampi long after I was full.
We also felt Thaddeus's ghost. Very warm presence. Husband was sweating!
We will definitely be back!4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe ate at 4 different restaurantsWe ate at 4 different restaurants in Savannah this past weekend and 17 Hundred 90 stood out head and shoulders above the rest. Crab cake was ALL crab, shrimp and grits are worth a return visit to Savannah just to have them again! Excellent bloody mary!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Food!We ended up eating both lunch and dinner at the 17hundred90 restaurant in Savannah.I'm sure glad we did! At lunch we had the Angus burger and it was definitely the BEST burger I'd ever had! The flavor and juiciness were incredible! My friend had the salad with homemade raspberry dressing and the Jumbolia, she said both were wonderful! The Honey Bisquits were sweet and delicious We had dinner here also and both had the Filet, although mine was more well than medium I still found it delicious. They apologized for it and took the cost of our drinks off the bill. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Our server at lunch told us GHOST stories about the Inn. If you're not too scared I recommend staying at the Inn, the rooms are beautifu4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a vey nice dinner thereWe had a vey nice dinner there and the service was very good. We were early for our reservation but that was not a problem. We would recommend 17 Hundred90 for a nice dinner.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful anniversaryMy wife and I stayed at the 17 Hundred 90 Inn and ate at the restaurant there.
The ambiance, food, and service there were wonderful.
It was very romantic.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food. The shrimpDelicious food. The shrimp and grits were the best in town! Excellent dinner selection with nice ambience.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMVegetarian request was metVegetarian request was met with no problem and an excellent meal (stuffed peppers) was prepared and served as requested.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for a special occasion!Went there to celebrate my 10th anniversary with my wife. The food was excellent. The waiter was a little new and seemed a bit overwhelmed. We got a seat right next to the piano, and I can't say enough about the talented young man playing that night. We sat there for 2 hours (never felt rushed) just enjoying after dinner coffee and listening to him play.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were here for a BacheloretteWe were here for a Bachelorette night out. We had a blast. The food was awesome and the service was as always, great! We had a wonderful time and can't wait to come back!4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMCozy gem!We couldn't have had a more enjoyable evening at 17hundred90 - First, the atmosphere (which I'm very picky about) was perfection: historic home with exposed brick walls and 2 fireplaces (could have been more, but I saw 2). This was the room to the right when you enter - I saw a room to the left but didn't get a good look at it.
We ordered bacon wrapped scallops as an appetizer and it was delicious - three of the largest scallops I'v ever seen encased in perfectly cooked crunchy bacon. Then filet mignon & chicken boursin - both wonderful! I enjoyed a glass of the Apothic Red but the wine list was extensive and there were many choices. Desert was the chocolate bomb and pecan pie - We were both delighted with our meails from start to finish3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThe hostess showed us to theThe hostess showed us to the bar because the dining room wasn't quite ready and then forgot to get us. Also, I have been coming to this restaurant for a number of years and the menu doesn't seem to change. Usually there are only 1 or 2 specials which really doesn't give you any variety in ordering food. The food, though, has consistently been very good and Scott has waited on us several times and he is excellent!!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMHistoric GemWe enjoyed the ambience of the centuries old building, as well as the attentive service of the wait staff and the hostess. Both my entree, a pork tenderloin special, and my husband's jambalaya were delicious and nicely presented. We will definitely dine here again when in Savannah.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMA cozy table for two.A cozy room by the fireplace just added to the ambience of the evening. Everything was wonderful and would highly recommend.3/6/2013 12:00:00 AMRestaurant was recommendedRestaurant was recommended to us and we are glad we checked it out when visiting Savannah. Great location and warm, welcoming venue. Food and service were outstanding.12/28/2012 12:00:00 AMQuaint setting in historicQuaint setting in historic district. Wait staff attentive without hovering.
