Very good food at really high prices. Wine list is extensive but somehow lacking in depth and it is priced expensively at what seemed to be 4X or 5X retail prices. Service was quite professional and caring. Enjoyable evening but doubt we will return anytime soon.

Paul was our waiter. Laid back, which we appreciated. Knew the menu well and made great recommendations. My husband and I decided to "go for it" and order from the four course tasting menu. Best way to experience what this fabulous restaurant has to offer. From start to finish the food was absolulty delicious. The desserts were out of this world. We arrived at 5:30, watched the sunset and had a very enjoyable evening. So, if you're in San Diego, take a ferry or cab to Coronado and enjoy. You won't be sorry you did. Truly a five star experience. We even got to witness a wedding proposal. Great fun.

We dined at this place on 4th October. Our verdict: There is nothing special about this restaurant, especially given the price tag. If you have never been to the hotel del Coronado, then perhaps eating here may add to your overall experience. Pros: Nice patio with a ocean view (ocean is little distant though; and no ocean view if you are seated indoors) Part of the historic hotel del Coronado Good wine list Complimentary valet parking Cons: Luke warm welcome (a good smile is basic in hospitality!) and so-so service Subpar ambiance Food is pricey, but your home food may be tastier/flavorful than this (we ordered 3 course with filet mignon & halibut)! Bottom line: Consider Marine room, George's, Market for better fine dining experience.

The service and food were just okay. In hindsight, I would have preferred to revisit any one of the other on property that we dined in, rather than dine at the 1500. The service was pretty good, but the seats were a little uncomfortable, and (yes, I should have expected it) the food portion was pretty small for the high prices. Had the food been spectacular, and/or the service over the top, that would have made the visit to 1500 well worth it. Even the atmosphere was a little cold and nothing special visually. Save your cash, even if you have a lot, and revisit one you've already been to and loved. The rest of the property was amazing. 1500 is a bit of a let-down after everything else they have to offer.

We came out to the Hotel Del Coronado for Restaurant Week. We were greeted warmly, and all started well. The special menu had interesting choices and variety. Since our group was having both fish and beef, we asked for a light red wine recommendation, and received an excellent one from our waiter. Unfortunately, after the wine was opened our waiter was consumed by a small wedding party, and we had to finally have another server remind him that we hadn't yet ordered our dinners. He was very responsive to that request, but there was no apology for the substantial delay. All the food was good, but unfortunately not enough to live up to our expectations, nor overcome the service debacle. The lovely wine was the stand out of the evening.

My wife and I got last minute reservations for 1500 Ocean because we wanted to take advantage of Restaurant week. We have been to the Hotel Del many times but never eaten here. We were not disappointed! We were almost 15 minutes late due to traffic, but called to let them know and they said it was no problem. The restaurant week selections were fantastic, with ceviche, octopus, and seabass. We sat outside and the view was perfect overlooking the ocean. Wine was anywhere from $15 to 30+ per glass, so just be aware. Our server was very attentive for the most part. Very romantic dinner, and I would absolutely recommend this to others. We will be coming back!

We went here for the Restaurant week special and were surprised to find items that were more expensive added to the special menu, i.e., steak was restaurant week price +$10; sides were added extra for $8 each. So, we know now next time, the restaurant week price is not really honored here at 1500 Ocean. Both of us ordered the halibut and both came raw inside, so we had to send the meals back and wait a long time for the meal. Our waiter was so busy that twice I had to get up to find someone to wait on us. Overall, once we got the meals, the food was good and tasty. But, overall the experience was a little unsettling. I think we would return for a very special dinner, not a busy restaurant week or a weekend.

We had a lovely outdoor table with sunset views over Coronado's western shore. The staff was extremely attentive and helpful. Our dinner, part of the Restaurant Week menu, was good but not amazing. I had the ceviche duo appetizer and while the fish ceviche, with cilantro and citrus was excellent, the scallops were lackluster. My wife's grilled octopus app was very good, though. Our main courses: the diver scallops were cooked perfectly, but the halibut (a very large piece of fish) was also lacking. It was a bit overcooked and the accompanying sauce simply wasn't interesting. For dessert, the chocolate budino was good (just call it pudding) and the ice cream sandwiches were excellent. Note - they validate parking so don't pay the full $28!

Excellent food and wine pairing. Excellent waiters. Unpleasant reception at entry. We were dressed for a special occasion to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The lady at the door didn’t even look at us. She simply took a couple of menus and put them on the table closest to the door. The worst table in the restaurant even though we had reservations. I requested a better seating, because I could see booths and better tables available. She took us to a booth without an apology. Other staff, however, was great.

Small and delicious. The entrees were Filet mignon cooked perfectly and diver scallops cooked with a lovely By the time dessert rolled around we were full but remember it being moist and tasty. Our 30th anniversary dinner at 1500 Ocean was enjoyable but not notable. Even though the reservation was made with mention of our special occasion, no mention was made by the hostess or our waiter. We had to ask for the nice booth. Dinner was good but not something I thought of the next day. The Hotel Del Coronado is busy and lots of people mill about. It is lovely for a walk along the sand with the background roar of the waves.

We had a special occasion dinner (and an overnight stay) and it was all we hoped for. The restaurant staff had obviously been alerted of our occasion, and were attentive and friendly. (We slightly downrated service only because our server was just a tiny bit too attentive.) The food was wonderful. We chose from the tasting menus, and every item was a treat. It was truly a dinner to remember. With not that much wine it really added up - higher than our tabs at some other very top end San Diego restaurants (paying for the location?), making it our most expensive meal out yet. But we have no complaints, and look forward to a return visit.

Went here for our anniversary because we spent our wedding night on the Hotel Del. Service wasn't all that great. There was some confusion as to who our server was (we had two different ones come to our table and ask the same thing). We didn't get bread on the table until way after we already ordered. Initially they put us as one of their secluded booths rather than give us a table with a view. They were ok with us changing the table though.
