A word from 1300 on Fillmore
1300 on Fillmore is a restaurant and lounge that draws on the rich cultural history of San Francisco's Fillmore Jazz District. The restaurant serves "Soulful American" Cuisine, accompanied by a list of the finest California wines.

Soulful American Cuisine prepared as interpreted by internationally recognized chef David Lawrence. Lawrence combines classic French cooking techniques with hints of southern flavors using fresh, California seasonal ingredients. His north-meets-south cuisine includes imaginative creations such as dungeness crab and corn cakes, fresh water shrimp hush puppies, as well as refined interpretations of
southern favorites including macaroni and cheese and okra succotash.

Highlights include a heritage wall with portraits of the Fillmore’s vast array of blues and jazz legends. The
décor is eclectic and familiar, achieved by co-mingling vintage-inspired fabrics with modern interpretations of classic furnishings.

I wanted to get my family out of the house and avoid preparing food for 20 people. I have eaten many times at 1300 Fillmore and was never disappointed. We had a 1pm private seating. The Gospel brunch made the noise level higher but we enjoyed and danced to the music. So no problem. Jennifer, our party coordinator is the best! She followed up on each call within the day and answered all questions with a smile. Whether it was fried chicken and mashed potatoes, french toast with whipped cream and maple syrup, everyone was happy. Heard good reviews on the Strata and biscuits & gravy. With side dishes of grits for all, the food was more than enough. I highly recommend 1300 Filmore for the food, professional staff, and the great location.

the service is great and the gospels singers are excellent, concerning the mood we had a great time at 1300 Fillmore. But we do not recommend for great food experience: we took, 1300 Potatoes, the bagel with Smocked Salmon, and scrambled eggs and everything had no taste.

Reservation at 8pm but were told the table was not ready because the other guest had not left. We sat in the lounge to wait. We were passed up by the waiter several times so we order at the bar, where it took over 15 min to make a mojito. (It was also made incorrect) We had to go back to the hostess to ask about our seat, told it would be another 15 minutes. Once we were seated the waiter Came to get drink order, one wine showed up and we had to remind him that the other drinks had not made it to the table. He hurried off and returned 10 min later. We ordered dinner and half the table waited for 20 minutes while the others ate. They brought us free dessert but never apologized. The manger came and cleared the table 15 min to close. Horrible

The place is gorgeous and has such a wonderful ambiance. You can tell the owner took extra care in preparing all the furnishings inside the restaurant. The food was alright. I've gone to many brunch places, most recently Sweet Maple where the price/food quality just does not compare. Given for what was payed, I expected a more satisfactory meal. The 1300 fillmore breakfast item was pretty decently portioned, but you can tell from the cut of the bacon was something easily picked up at a grocer. The biscuits and gravy that my friend ordered was about the size of my fist, thats including the grits, biscuits and "sausage gravy". Overall they are very accommodating, which earned them the extra stars. Would I come back here? No.

The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and has a 20s or 30s feel. The fried chicken dish was really tasty but the catfish over gumbo was a little bland. The seasoning tasted more like Texas BBQ and less Creole style. The server didn't seem to know the menu well and was not informative when we had questions on a couple of dishes. Other than that, the food came out timely and the service was fine. It's quite pricey for just ok.

I had been wanting to try 1300 for awhile and finally went last night with my visiting sister and brother-in-law. I thought it was just okay. The best things were the deviled eggs with tasso ham and my sister's catfish gumbo ya-ya, which at least had good flavor. The shrimp and grits were okay, but far from the best I've had and the fried chicken wasn't all that great. The cornbread was good, but they only gave a tiny bit of butter for four nice pieces...I did like the pepper jelly (I guess that's what it was) that came with it. We went early (6pm and were only the second table in the room. Service was fine and the room was nice, but the food was nothing to write home about.

Went here on the recommendation if a friend while on a visit of the UK. Was billed as gospel brunch and was very excited at prospect of soulful food and music. The food was excellent in particular the fried chicken and potatoes. The venue itself though felt very sterile and the music did not live up to the billing. Would go again for the food but more of a smart lunch than a soul meal.

We happened to head out for a late dinner to celebrate a few personal achievements. This was the perfect spot. The service was impeccable from start to finish, and the food created a party for our tastebuds. Upscale southern cuisine at its finest. We started with the cornbread, which came with honey butter and jalapeno jam. Tasty! We ordered the oysters, shrimp hushpuppies, blackened catfish, and the mac'n'cheese. Each bite was better than the one before! The live jazz band created the perfect soundtrack! The decor transported you back to the jazz era. We had the pleasure of meeting the Executive Chef and his wife! It was a fantastic dining experience, and I look forward to the next opportunity!

We got there early, 5:30, and it was very nice and quiet. Service was great. Food selections were limited but everyone was pleased with their selection except me - catfish and gumbo was not at all what I expected, taste was nothing I would go back for. The men got the ribs: generous portions and very good! The sides were "different" not really good. The fried chicken was very good, sorry I didn't get it. The fried okra was also a hit. Dessert: peach cobbler without the crust?? not good. Banana pie was very good. Beinets would have been better without chocolate filling. By 7 the place was filling up and the noise level was out of control, totally changed the ambiance. Overall, not worth the price.

We've eaten at 1300 on Fillmore regularly over the past few years, and we've never had less than a delightful experience. We have out-of-town friends who come to SF for an annual get-together, and they always insist on eating here. The only time we've ever quibbled, in fact, is over the last shrimp hush puppy--lord, are they good. Recently I've had to reduce sodium in my diet. I spoke to the restaurant in advance and they were very gracious about accommodating my dietary needs. The food is superb, and so is the service. The staff here is well-trained and professional. They make us feel pampered and well taken care of. It's a skill that is lacking in too many other restaurants. 1300 on Fillmore sets the standard for excellent service.

This was honestly one of the best dining experiences I have had in a very long while! The service was impeccable--from the servers' understanding of the history and menu options of the restaurant to the prompt and courteous attention to drink refills! The food speaks for itself: just absolutely phenomenal mixtures of tastes and textures that take that down-home southern Black folks' "grandmama in the kitchen" to the absolute next level with the infusion of flavors I'd never had before. I'll definitely be back; it will now be a staple restaurant choice for all of my out-of-town visitors!! Well done 1300, well done!!

On vacation with hubby and 2 teenagers. Beautiful interior & atmosphere. Attentive service. Waiter happily accommodated our request for our son of an unadorned rib-eye and a side of mashed potatoes. Daughter who likes spicy food, ordered the signature chicken dish. The waiter said the coating is spicy. She was underwhelmed. I even thought it was underwhelming and I'm a spice wimp. We are from the north & maybe we don't have a handle on southern fried chicken--we'd never had it before. I ordered the beef short rib and loved every bite. Hubby got the mussels and the catfish and loved them both.

We were excited to return to 1300 as we were there the previous week and the food was phenomenal. The salmon appetizer in the prix fix menu stole the show and was the reason we returned(the following week). Unfortunately, the second time around was not nearly as good as the first. The lettuce in the salad was wilted and the cut of the pork chop that was served was below par, and clearly not the same prime cut that was served the week before. The salmon entrée was quite delicious, and it was ordered "rare". The restaurant is very nice, and provides various entertainment features. However the quality of the food is not consistent and therefore, not worth the high price.
