A word from 1300 on Fillmore
1300 on Fillmore is a restaurant and lounge that draws on the rich cultural history of San Francisco's Fillmore Jazz District. The restaurant serves "Soulful American" Cuisine, accompanied by a list of the finest California wines.

Soulful American Cuisine prepared as interpreted by internationally recognized chef David Lawrence. Lawrence combines classic French cooking techniques with hints of southern flavors using fresh, California seasonal ingredients. His north-meets-south cuisine includes imaginative creations such as dungeness crab and corn cakes, fresh water shrimp hush puppies, as well as refined interpretations of
southern favorites including macaroni and cheese and okra succotash.

Highlights include a heritage wall with portraits of the Fillmore’s vast array of blues and jazz legends. The
décor is eclectic and familiar, achieved by co-mingling vintage-inspired fabrics with modern interpretations of classic furnishings.

We had not been here in a while. Our visit, celebrating a birthday, was the first time we tried the jazz brunch. Never again. While the singer was a good performer, the volume was way too loud for the small place. Nothing absorbed the sound, we had to talk very loud to be heard amongst the four of us. The food, while flavorful, was served in such tiny portions for the amount of money we paid. The biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs consisted of two tiny rolls and maybe a two egg scramble. The fried chicken was three small tenders, KFC serves larger tenders. It was like children's sized portions in some instances. The two large Madrone "trees" in the dining room are covered in dust, and should either be cleaned or taken away, they add nothing to the decor. Cocktails were tasty. I put that I would recommend this place as in the past I've had really good experiences, I wish there was a maybe option. If you go, hope it's better than this visit.

I go to 1300 on Fillmore for the music and atmosphere. I've noticed on my last two visits that the meals are a bit pricey and really very ordinary. Nothing really bad about them, just nothing really good either. But the bands in the lounge are great. I enjoy just sitting and enjoying the music in a very intimate atmosphere, just a few feet from the musicians, while savoring a nice cocktail. That's the attraction of 1300 on Fillmore.

We came here with a group of 4 people for pre-show dinner at Yoshi's next door on a Sunday night. We allowed ourselves 2 hours. Service was great, we were done with 20 minutes to spare to walk next door and check in for the show. The atmosphere was candlelight romantic and the food was delicious.

I have been to 1300 on Fillmore several times and always had a great time. I usually have dinner then go to the lounge and enjoy the live music over drinks. This Saturday was a big disappointment. First, half the restaurant was curtained off for a wedding reception. They had a sound system and the wedding toasts were so loud my friend and I could not even hear each other over our table. The food was great as usual and our server was outstanding. But I remember the noise most of all. After dinner, I received my second big disappointment when I was told that the lounge area was also closed for a private party. The band was great and we could sit in the bar and hear it, but not see it. Overall, I was disappointed in my experience.

This place was right on ., my husband had the ribs, he loved them, had to have take home bag. I had the short ribs, falling off the bone. The service was excellent, from appetizer to dessert and coffee. The noise factor could be taken down a notch or two. All in all a great place, We would go back.

Going to 1300 Filmore for the Gospel Brunch is a special treat for me - I only go 2-3 times a year. So I was disappointed on Sunday when a different band was playing and instead of gospel music, played old R&B hits like "Higher Ground" and "Just the Two of Us." I kept waiting for them to do a gospel number, but they never did. This is supposed to be gospel music brunch. If the regular band is not available they should find a replacement that plays gospel music. If they can't, they should let the patrons know. 1300 Filmore called to confirm my reservation on Friday - they should have told me that it would not be gospel music brunch afterall so I could go another weekend. VERY DISAPPOINTING.

I wanted to get my family out of the house and avoid preparing food for 20 people. I have eaten many times at 1300 Fillmore and was never disappointed. We had a 1pm private seating. The Gospel brunch made the noise level higher but we enjoyed and danced to the music. So no problem. Jennifer, our party coordinator is the best! She followed up on each call within the day and answered all questions with a smile. Whether it was fried chicken and mashed potatoes, french toast with whipped cream and maple syrup, everyone was happy. Heard good reviews on the Strata and biscuits & gravy. With side dishes of grits for all, the food was more than enough. I highly recommend 1300 Filmore for the food, professional staff, and the great location.

the service is great and the gospels singers are excellent, concerning the mood we had a great time at 1300 Fillmore. But we do not recommend for great food experience: we took, 1300 Potatoes, the bagel with Smocked Salmon, and scrambled eggs and everything had no taste.

We took another couple to this restaurant for dinner. The service was terrible. The young man serving us spoke so fast that trying to understand even the specials was a challenge. The appetizers were really good, but our meals were not to the standard of a $200 night. We have had much better for even a lesser amount of cash. Don't get me wrong, we don't mind the money, but at least the food and the service should be worth it. This simply was not the case for this place.

Reservation at 8pm but were told the table was not ready because the other guest had not left. We sat in the lounge to wait. We were passed up by the waiter several times so we order at the bar, where it took over 15 min to make a mojito. (It was also made incorrect) We had to go back to the hostess to ask about our seat, told it would be another 15 minutes. Once we were seated the waiter Came to get drink order, one wine showed up and we had to remind him that the other drinks had not made it to the table. He hurried off and returned 10 min later. We ordered dinner and half the table waited for 20 minutes while the others ate. They brought us free dessert but never apologized. The manger came and cleared the table 15 min to close. Horrible

The place is gorgeous and has such a wonderful ambiance. You can tell the owner took extra care in preparing all the furnishings inside the restaurant. The food was alright. I've gone to many brunch places, most recently Sweet Maple where the price/food quality just does not compare. Given for what was payed, I expected a more satisfactory meal. The 1300 fillmore breakfast item was pretty decently portioned, but you can tell from the cut of the bacon was something easily picked up at a grocer. The biscuits and gravy that my friend ordered was about the size of my fist, thats including the grits, biscuits and "sausage gravy". Overall they are very accommodating, which earned them the extra stars. Would I come back here? No.

The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and has a 20s or 30s feel. The fried chicken dish was really tasty but the catfish over gumbo was a little bland. The seasoning tasted more like Texas BBQ and less Creole style. The server didn't seem to know the menu well and was not informative when we had questions on a couple of dishes. Other than that, the food came out timely and the service was fine. It's quite pricey for just ok.

I had been wanting to try 1300 for awhile and finally went last night with my visiting sister and brother-in-law. I thought it was just okay. The best things were the deviled eggs with tasso ham and my sister's catfish gumbo ya-ya, which at least had good flavor. The shrimp and grits were okay, but far from the best I've had and the fried chicken wasn't all that great. The cornbread was good, but they only gave a tiny bit of butter for four nice pieces...I did like the pepper jelly (I guess that's what it was) that came with it. We went early (6pm and were only the second table in the room. Service was fine and the room was nice, but the food was nothing to write home about.

Went here on the recommendation if a friend while on a visit of the UK. Was billed as gospel brunch and was very excited at prospect of soulful food and music. The food was excellent in particular the fried chicken and potatoes. The venue itself though felt very sterile and the music did not live up to the billing. Would go again for the food but more of a smart lunch than a soul meal.

We happened to head out for a late dinner to celebrate a few personal achievements. This was the perfect spot. The service was impeccable from start to finish, and the food created a party for our tastebuds. Upscale southern cuisine at its finest. We started with the cornbread, which came with honey butter and jalapeno jam. Tasty! We ordered the oysters, shrimp hushpuppies, blackened catfish, and the mac'n'cheese. Each bite was better than the one before! The live jazz band created the perfect soundtrack! The decor transported you back to the jazz era. We had the pleasure of meeting the Executive Chef and his wife! It was a fantastic dining experience, and I look forward to the next opportunity!

We got there early, 5:30, and it was very nice and quiet. Service was great. Food selections were limited but everyone was pleased with their selection except me - catfish and gumbo was not at all what I expected, taste was nothing I would go back for. The men got the ribs: generous portions and very good! The sides were "different" not really good. The fried chicken was very good, sorry I didn't get it. The fried okra was also a hit. Dessert: peach cobbler without the crust?? not good. Banana pie was very good. Beinets would have been better without chocolate filling. By 7 the place was filling up and the noise level was out of control, totally changed the ambiance. Overall, not worth the price.
