Diner Reviews
  • "It's always crowded and the service is a bit slow but that is all ok given the great food they serve."

  • "I love going to this neighborhood restaurant. It never fails to deliver. I also l like the updated menu. I am looking forward to seeing the renovations even though I don't think you need them."

  • "121 seems to have a new life. The menu is inspired again and it sounds like a pending renovation will help reinvigorate this favored local gem. Brad has come from behind the bar and is now managing 121. He's bringing the flare and expert service to the restaurant that James Brown use to engender when he was there. Great to have you back 121!"

  • "This is a nice, quaint place with good service and tasty food. Definitely will go again."

  • "One of our favorites in Northern Westchester as you can never go wrong even though it has changed chefs and I believe owners over the past few years.. Consistently good food and great atmosphere and the manager, Brad is doing a great job with making sure that all guests are taken care of."

  • "121 is a neighborhood gem. There is always something new to try. Foods are prepared in unique ways using interesting ingredients. We have been patrons of 121 for many years and will continue to do so."

  • "I have really enjoyed 121 in the past, but dinner the other night was just ok. First, we were seated in the basement, which is clearly "family purgatory" because it was basically all tables with kids of varying ages. I asked for one of the many empty tables in the main dining room (my son is a mature teenager), but was told they were all reserved. That should have been a tip-off. The menu seems to have shrunken since my last visit, and it was definitely more challenging to find interesting dishes. The food was fair, the service was painfully slow and disorganized, and I left feeling like I probably wouldn't be back."

  • "We had made a reservation but had to wait at least half an hour before we got a table--a bad one at that! Right near the service entrance to kitchen."
    Dined on 2/28/2014
  • "Had an 8:15 reservation. Didn't sit until 9:10. Our waiter was cold and lacked personality-maybe cracked one smile at end of meal. Food was good, but not sure I'd quickly go back. Overall experience wasn't worth the wait. Btw, parking is a major issue-make sure you bring a flashlight."

  • "We had another great meal at 121! This restaurant never fails to deliver an exceptional experience. Food, wine/drinks,scenery and service team are always top notch! We can't wait to try their new brunch menu!!"

  • "We ordered 5 different appetizers and all were excellent; I would recommend octopus and bouillabaisse; I am a small person and could order just bouillabaisse and salad as a main dish. The wine list is limited but one can certainly find what he/she wants. Having table-cloth would be a great addition to already very good food presentation."
    Dined on 2/18/2014
  • "While the décor is nice, the food is first rate as is the very earnest service. Very good wine list."
    Dined on 2/16/2014
  • "Service is terribly slow. 3 tables were serviced before us while they came in a good 20 minutes after we sat and ordered. Food is mediocre. Burger is a highlight! Staff is disorganized and all over the place. Such a cute place but service has never been a strong suit of this restaurant. I recommend if you can tolerate slow service."
    Dined on 2/16/2014
  • "This was our first time and we will go back. Food was creative and enjoyable, Wine list was extensive. Parking was a bit tough but who cares. Service was spot on. We cleaned our plates, made a few toast and we will return."

  • "My wife and have been to 121 several times and decided to have Valentines Day dinner there. It has always been a great experience. Our server made us feel like we were the only ones in the restaurant and the food as always was great. Wonderful experience as always."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "It would have been helpful if Open Table had published the prix fixed menu and set price for couples for Valentine's Day dinner. Basement seating was not romantic; no flowers on the table; and lots of rhythm and blues music piped in. Apres bouche was neglected to be served before the starter. Food tasty in spite of being luke warm upon serving. Desserts very delicious and thank you for the complimentary chocolate truffles. I would only return to 121 for lunch and have the shrimp and grits. Parking was awful."

  • "This was our first time at this restaurant, which is in an old house, and we found the staff to be friendly and welcoming; the atmosphere cozy and inviting. The menu is varied and interesting with something for everyone. Appetizers could be paired with a salad for a light dinner. The kale & avocado salad was fantastic, as was my entree of black bass with pureed cauliflower and broccoli rabe. We will definitely be back!"

  • "Food was very good, service was up and down. Food service was fine, drink and coffee and dessert service were poor. Strange, but they ran out of specials and other ingredients for typical meals by 8:15PM on a Saturday night. You'd think that they hadn't been in business for the many years that they have been."

  • "Food was okay. Over priced for the quality and taste you get. The service was slow. Our waiter was very friendly, but the food took over an hour to come to our table. Don't ask to take any leftovers home because you will wait for that as well. Instead of actually receiving your "doggy bag", you receive a numbered tag (like a coat check tag) for your food. When you are ready to leave you have to give your tag to a waiter. We ended up giving it to the bartender because our waiter disappeared. The bartender gave it to someone who also disappeared. We waited another 15 minutes for our leftovers."

  • "First time back in a few years we had a very good dining experience here. The menu is very well thought out and the selections are varied."

  • "Had dinner with another couple and found the atmosphere very comfortable and service was very good. Now for the food, the shrimp & grits were so tasty, it was such an enjoyable experience. The combination of ingredients and spices added to the dishes. We had a very pleasant experience that was a nice change from the normal fare."

  • "The food is outstanding, often unusual and the presentation is beautiful. I highly recommend 121. Can be very noisy during the weekends so for a wonderful experience try them during the week. Very knowledgeable, caring and pleasant staff."

  • "Disappoinating service, lacked professionalism and attention. Food was just ok. Will try again."

  • "We love this place as our go to date night. We dine in CT and Westchester but find ourselves back here frequently. Our go to pave as well for entertaining our friends. The service is excellent and the menu is terrific. The people staff are very accommodating and the food is excellent. Highly recommend the kale salad it's or favorite."
    Dined on 1/11/2014
  • "We go here often as it is nearby, but it is so good I would travel to it. Innovative season dishes with menu mainstays as well. Delicious. Can get crowded with weekend waits. Bar can often be packed on weekends."
    Dined on 12/27/2013
  • "have been here many times and never had a meal that wasn't great"
    Dined on 12/24/2013
  • "Normally, we love 121 and can't wait to come back but things were "off" this time. Server was really nice but we waited about an hour for entrees. It seemed like kitchen was backed up. Food was good but it would have been nice to have been brought a comped appetizer with the wait. Dessert was tasty but my espresso martini came in a short glass (they "ran out of martini glasses")which definitely took away from the drink experience. It's a good place but we probably won't come back for a while. Would recommend for the weekdays...maybe better luck then!"

  • "A lovely restaurant with a very accommodating staff. We've been dining there a number of times and will continue to do so."

  • "Brussels sprout salad was the best preparation of brussels sprouts I've had. Great find for a quick search while driving!"
    Dined on 12/15/2013
  • "The food and service combination here is always good. Food is never a "wow", but always solid. My short rib was very tasty (although a very small portion), as was the calamari appetizer and the salmon entree enjoyed by my wife. Friends also enjoyed their meals. BUT, the noise level is so extreme that we could barely hear each other speak fro across the table. It didn't help that we were given a table right be the door to the bar; not only were we accosted by the sound, but we were asked to move every time a waiter or hostess used the door."
    Dined on 12/7/2013
  • "Four of us dined. All the meals were excellent. I had the sweet potato soup which was very good and the Pork Chop was the best I've ever had. The pomegranate and chili gave the chop a distinct taste. Would definitely order it again. Next time would ask to sit in the dinning room and not the bar area. Very noisy on a Saturday night."

  • "The ambience of 121 is beautiful blend of homey and sophisticated. The food offerings are familiar enough to be inviting but also combine ingredients in a way that is interesting, artful, and delicious yet not pretentious. Familiar but better! And the staff is unfailingly gracious and helpful."

  • "2d time visiting, 121 has a good vibe. Drinks in bar area were uneventful. Transition to the dining room was fine. Downhill after that. Not satisfied, not sure why."
    Dined on 11/16/2013
  • "My favorite restaurant. Been coming here for about 3 years now. The food is always fantasitc. Menu changes seasonally. I can't say enough good things about it. Just go!"
    Dined on 11/13/2013
  • "We went for lunch during restaurant week. The service was perfect, the food was perfectly prepared and delicious, the decor was attractive in a cozy modern country style. The only disappointment was they ran out of pecan tarts, one of two dessert choices on the prix fixe menu (in spite of the restaurant being less than half-full). The mango sorbet that I had as an alternative had chunks of ice in it-definitely not up to par with the rest of the meal. Otherwise, an excellent experience and we'll definitely go back."
    Dined on 11/11/2013
  • "Loud, charming and great food. Service was generally good but served pumpkin soup without spoons. As appetizer Octopus was fantastic! Would highly recommend a visit."
    Dined on 11/10/2013
  • "Appetizer great and I should have stopped there. Slowly down hill. Main meal to salty, desert, bland."
    Dined on 11/7/2013
  • "This is not a special occasion restaurant. It is a good date night restaurant for the over 45 crowd; good cocktails and wine and decent food. The halibut was tasty but overcooked. The noise level was a distraction from our conversation all evening. It is a good neighborhood spot."
    Dined on 11/1/2013
  • "The food is consistently good and that means alot. Always fresh and seasonal. Good portion size. Drinks are good too, but I'm a foodie. Staff is super friendly and always accomodating. This is our go-to restaurant."
    Dined on 7/27/2013
  • "This restaurant is set in a beautiful country town in north Salem. The food is delicious. There were many good choices all of which were different and unique. Not your typical boring choices! The beer choices were good and the local reisling was delicious. The service was more than what we excpected. It was exceptional. We were not rushed nor kept waiting too long. We went for our anniversary but it is also a great place for groups. It was a bit noisy and cramped so if you're looking for a quiet romantic scene this might not be the place. However if you want good food try it!"
