Diner Reviews
  • "Everything was delicious. Small menu but all gems. Only ptoblem is the size of the menu, otherwise I'd make it one of my regular dining spots."

  • " We arrived at the restaurant at 8:30, which was the hour of the reservation. We where not seated until 8:45 and the restaurant wasn't even to crowded. It was 9:00 and no one had approched our table yet, not even for offering water. The food was ok but I found a piece of plastic in my lasagna."

  • "Loved it. Went for lunch for restaurant week. Everything was top notch. Excellent food, fantastic service and very beautiful space. Prices are in line with the neighborhood, what what a steal for restaurant week! I will be back!"

  • "The food was very good , well presented and just the right size, nothing to complain there. The Paper table toppers on top of the linen was a little cheap for the kind of place and prices it presents itself as."

  • "From the moment we stepped in the door, we had a great experience. Loved the ambiance, service was very friendly yet professional, and the food was wonderful! Bold flavors, creative combinations, and super fresh ingredients. Also chef was super accommodating in customizing dishes for vegan dietary needs."

  • "A mix of French and Mediterranean. Vegetable lasagna from Calabria with unique spicy sauce is outstanding. Great wine list and beautiful decor. And a fabulous dessert selection. Tim the Manager makes sure every diner is happy."

  • "The photos don't do it justice. It's gorgeous: elegant AND comfortable. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was excellent! I had a gazpacho, a grilled octopus & farro salad, and the lamb loin. My friend had the white asparagus salad and pork tenderloin. All of it was exceptional! My iced tea came with a mint simple syrup that helped make it even more refreshing. Looking forward to coming back. Right now, Saturdays aren't crowded so if you're in town over the summer weekends, hang out here. The bar and lounge areas look super comfortable and welcoming. But by all means, stay for dinner!"

  • "Very good food at a reasonable price with some interesting twists. Service attentive. There on a quiet night so hard to really know if it gets crazy loud. Inviting bar as well. Looks like a fun place for drinks. Thought the menu would be a bit more French/North African but the waiter assured us it changes frequently. Will certainly return."

  • "Found restaurant on Yelp...had great reviews. Food was outstanding, as was service, and the prices were very reasonable. However, we were the ONLY people in the restaurant on a saturday night between 8-10pm. Hope the place makes it, because it was well worth the price of admission."

  • "I really enjoyed the restaurant. It had a great atmosphere and was very accomadating. The food was amazing and presented well. It was a great price for an amazing dinner."

  • "I'm always on the lookout for the "perfect" restaurant for each meal, and had spent hours pouring over reviews on Yelp to find a place that was convenient to Midtown West and also to the Village, that had a semi-last-minute reservation available, that would be quiet enough to have a long catch-up conversation, but that was also interesting and with good, non-pretentious food. 1500 Miles fit the bill: - It's a big space, has nice decor that is stylish but not over the top. - The service was very good. - The food was good, although the menu was just a tad minimal in options. - They have an extensive wine list (and the bottles were mostly reasonably priced). And it was quiet. Too quiet. We closed the place down ~10pm. Where was everyone?"

  • "Enjoyed the prix fix lunch and especially that the portion size was just right. The cold asparagus soup was tasty as was the shrimp risotto. Three of us had the fixed lunch and one had the burger which was really huge and he said very good even though it was a little too well done after ordering medium."

  • "My girlfriends & I wanted to go to a new restaurant for dinner, one we haven't been to before and close to gramercy/ flatiron district. We decided on 1200 Miles & couldn't have been happier. The food, service, and ambiance were all fantastic. I will definitely go again & will highly recommend it to friends & family."

  • "When we arrived, I was a little concerned since the restaurant was fairly empty, however the staff quickly made us welcome and comfortable while we waited for the rest of our party. Dinner was excellent! Wonderful menu, perfectly prepared entrees. We couldn't have been more pleased with the quality and preparation. Manager came over to make sure we were enjoying the dinner and provided us with a complimentary desert ( which despite being on a diet, we had to try). Definitely going back on our next trip to NY."

  • "1200 Miles has delicious food - great, carefully selected ingredients prepared with skill. The flavors were surprisingly yummy. Atmosphere was chill and comfortable, customers were having a good time but you could hear your date talk. The service was attentive and gracious, if anything too attentive. I would definitely return for another satisfying and enjoyable meal. "

  • "Everything our party of four ordered was excellent and exceeded expectations. It was on a Monday evening, and the place was mostly quiet except for a hen party in the lounge, which was so loud at times that we couldn't had to stop for a second until we could hear each other again. They asked them to calm down a couple of times and they finally did. They comped our desserts for us, since we did complain a couple of times. The manager said they are putting acoustic tiles in the ceiling to ameliorate the problem. But all in all, we're definitely going back."

  • "This is a very good restaurant in every way. The night we ate there, it was surprisingly quiet, and it is a restaurant that merits many patrons. Interesting drinks and beer list, excellent rabbit (me) and cod (my wife). We will be back and we wish it well..."

  • "My bride and I dined at "1200 Miles" on our wedding anniversary weekend. We could not have been treated more gracefully or professionally. From the "Service & Beverage Manager" - Timothy Swanger - through to all the "Wait Staff" who supported our table on the Saturday evening, we were treated in exquisite fashion. We will return again ... and again ... and again. We have 'passed-the-word' about this gem of a restaurant to our many friends in NYC, Connecticut, and Vermont. Mike & Annie Clarke"

  • "A chef, whose restaurants I loved, just returned to NYC. Blake Schumpet was at Zoe and Cena, and took over here a couple months ago. Chelsea/Flatiron are better off because of it. His food is simple yet elegant. I loved my roasted Arctic char; and my friend swore his Colorado lamb was the best he ever had. The crispy calamari was happily a throwback to the original Zoe recipe. My burrata appetizer was superb, as was the apple tart. On a second visit I had a burger, one of the two or three best in town. The home-made potato chips broke my diet. The list was interesting and well priced. Importantly, the fact that I could hear my dinner companion – despite the happy buzz in the room – means that I’m going back. "

  • "We had a beautiful dinner here. Seated in a banquet, so comfortable, with a great view of the room. The restaurant feels spacious and intimate. The service was wonderful, I ordered a fish appetizer, (that I did not realize was raw)- they graciously took it back no charge. (this is not always the case). The rest of the dinner was delicious! "

  • "No complaints, but nothing to recommend it. I'm not at all clear by NY Magazine give is a Critic's Pick. It's perfectly fine, just not worth it given the 100's of better options."

  • "Our party of 3 thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The biggest drawback was the noise level, which was almost impossible to hear over. "

  • "Really really good food. Really inexperienced wait staff. Really poor acoustics. There are too many eatery choices to try this one again. Certainly fit for high end takeout!"

  • "Read positive reviews about this restaurant before making a reservation with some friends this Saturday. We were looking for a place in this area with good and somewhat healthy food options. The place was much quieter than expected for a Saturday night, but the staff was friendly, the owner stopped to say hello and check in on us, and the food was great. The only complaint was that they told us they were out of one of the dishes which we were surprised about since there were only a few other people eating. Also, be warned that the menu seems to change by season since what's online isn't exactly what's available. Not a big deal, but if you're looking forward to something specific, they may not be offering it. Will definitely go back."

  • "I loved the atmosphere and the menu was interesting and enticing. We wanted to try everything. I decided on the fideos appetizer and my husband had the white asparagus salad. Both were superb! For dinner I had the celery root ravioli and my husband had the rack of lamb. Again, delicious. The braised shoulder roulade served with the lamb was particularly delicious. Our entire party was very satisfied with their meals. We will go back to try more of the amazing menu! Service was right on. The bar scene on the way in sets the tone for a fun evening. We had a really great time! I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "What a fantastic dinner I had with two friends at 1200 Miles. We enjoyed everything, from appetizer through to dessert. The charming owner even came by our table to say hello and offer a complementary glass of dessert wine. Best dishes: winter lettuces salad, salmon entree, lamb tajine, espresso/chocolate dessert. They have a thorough scotch and bourbon collection at the beautiful bar. Must try after work with friends, for a romantic evening with a date, or for a large party!"

  • "The decor, serve and food all excellent. Impresses by the creativity of the meal, excellent preparation. Tables are well spaced so no sense of crowdedness."

  • "Having walked by several times we finally made a reservation for dinner. The bar is lively but it quiets in the back dining area making for a comfortable noise level. The three entrees that we tried were all very good. The prices are very reasonable making it a great go to place for a casual meal or for a larger group. We will be back."

  • "Poor service will fail this place if it doesn't improve - and it's really such a disservice to the kitchen because the food was very tasty. however, from start to end, the service was missing: e.g. there were several times when there was NO server on the floor at all - then, when we finally found someone, they said they weren't our server and disappeared to get someone else; we had to ask for bread and oil - which was good (the oil), but we had to ask? literally, after 2 hours, we had only received our appetizers - way too slow. So, the good news is, smarten up on your service and you should be fine - the food was very good."

  • "This restaurant is still somewhat new to the flatiron district but I encourage everyone to try it. Service is friendly and efficient and the food is a wonderful blend of north african spices with french cuisine. My favorite dises are the lobster bisque, brussel sprouts (side) and the salmon. And there is a very nice catering/event room in the back suitable for about 40 or so people. My new favorite spot!"

  • "this place seems like it could be amazing, but felt a little under-managed. we weren't sat for our 9 pm reservation until 9:30, so we waited at the bar, which was fine. My wife and I waited quite a while for each course, and eventually left around 11:30, after maybe eating for a total of 20 mins. Our waiter was so polite, almost annoyingly polite. I had salmon but he never asked how well I'd like it cooked. Their Prix Fixe meal was reasonably priced and tasted decent. There were a few blunders by the staff, and extra long waits for food, but we had nowhere else to be. All in all, I'd recommend this place, but not for a special occasion, only for a casual dinner but on the nicer side."

  • "We booked Valentines dinner here. While some delays are to be expected on a holiday, we experienced the worst service failure at any restaurant, which completely ruined our Valentines day. The entree took over 1:45 to arrive, and only happened after the manager happened to check on us. He later informed us that our meal was the next ticket coming out of the kitchen, yet we saw others receiving our dish before ours arrived. Despite the major delay, the rest of the dinner (dessert and billing) were handled with no sense of urgency. To top it off, the waitress took our dessert orders at the beginning of the meal (as it was prix fixe), forgot them, then delivered the dessert menu at the end while informing that my selection was out."

  • "Food was good and well balanced. Excellent roasted chestnut soup, Pheasant entree was good, but a little bland. Chocolate dessert was perfect. Really liked that it was quiet enough for light conversation."
