Diner Reviews
  • "My wife and I have been looking for a nice Persian restaurant for quite some time. The closest competitor we've tried to this place would probably be Rumi's Kitchen, which had nice ambience & drinks but super $$$, poor service, and dry rice (that's like 1/2 the meal!). This restaurant was beyond our expectations. We live in ATL about 35 minutes away, and we will be coming back. The hummus was outstanding, the chicken skewers were flavorful and excellent. The evening was great and there was also some nice, soft music being played live on a stage in the restaurant. While we were there, it wasn't so busy. I hope this place sticks around, as it's definitely a neighborhood gem. Service was also excellent. Did I mention we'd be coming back?"

  • "1001 Nights is one of my favorite restaurants. I crave the koobidah and barg. I try to eat here at least once a month. So good. I am trying to avoid carbs but the naan is irresistible. I always substitute grilled veggies or salad for the rice with the entree. I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "I have passed this restaurant many times without giving it a second thought. Then a friend from Iraq got married, and my wife found the listing for the restaurant when looking for Persian Food. Our first experience here was amazing. While a tad more expensive than what we normally would invest, the dinner for six, four adults and two children ran $180.00 with tip. But the food was incredible. We started with a mixed appetizer, and the grape leaves surrounded a sweet mixture, unlike anything we had tried before. Each of us had a different skewer of meat that came with the longest grain rice we had ever seen. My wife loved her shrimp, and my chicken was great. This is a wonderful place, and we will be back. Highly recommend it."

  • "Had dinner here with a friend on July 4th. The food was Amazing! Because we were "1st timers" we relied heavily on the recommendations from our server. She recommended the Chicken and Steak Kabobs. Everything Was Delicious. The Meat was Very Tender, Moist and Flavorful and the Saffron Rice was Delicious. The restaurant offers live music to set the tone for a perfect evening. We were even able to watch the Firework Show from our table. From initial greeting to ending sevice; this evening was Simply Amazing."

  • "The service was fast and attentive. The food was outstanding. It was flavored by using spices not common to southern fair."

  • "Fresh delicious food, and they aim to please wonderful table pre-meal bread and traditional Persian snacks. Nice touch. I am now addicted to the rice with pistachios and barberries. What I thought was a spicy powder at the table was a ground cherry based sweet sprinkle that I ended up pitting on almost everything...yum"

  • "I have been to this restuarant many times, but most recently was for my 40th Birthday dinner/party. I had a party of 50 and they accomodated my every need. Other restuarants in the city were not as flexible and accomodating. I had a private dining area where my guest and I were able to have dinner and then enjoy some dancing. (Yes, I was allowed to bring my DJ). My friends and family loved the food and will be going back to patronize. The hummus and Kabobs are the best I have ever had and I am picky. The thing that stood out to me was not only the food but the excellent service. This establishment is family owned and the husband and wife team are wonderful. The hostess Lala always smiling and the wait staff very efficient. I had so much fun"

  • "What a wonderful dinner! The restaurant is tastefully decorated, the noise level was great for talking and hearing the people you have come to eat with. There was live music which was nice background music and added a nice touch. Our trio sampler was outstanding. We had falafel , Kashk Bademjoon and 1001 nights spicy special. For main course grilled salmon kebab with Ada's polo , the salmon was perfectly grilled and the rice had lentils and raisins in it which were tasty. Husband had lamb kebabs and basmati rice, he also thought they were excellent. We ordered a chateau Michele Riesling which was perfect for our choices and very reasonable. Worth the hour drive."

  • "The food was good and there's a wide variety on the menu. They brought cheese and bread to the table while we were deciding what to order. Our waiter seemed shy and didn't ask if we wanted anything to drink. I had to ask him twice for a soda before he brought it. However, he was courteous. We arrived around 5:30 on a Saturday and there was only one other couple in the dining room. The restaurant is clean and easy to get to. "

  • "I have eaten in several Middle Eastern/Mediterranean restaurants here in the north ATL over a period of 15 years. The cuisine geography ranges from Greek to Turkish, Lebanese, Syrian, and Iranian. I can say that 1001 Nights is the best of this type I have found. We had Lamb Shank and a Sultan's Combo kebab plate. Both dishes were beautifully prepared, with well seasoned and succulent meats, and wonderful rice typical of Persian food. The restaurant itself is notable in that it is white-tablecloth with very professional servers. They were doing great business on a Saturday night. Cons: Somewhat more expensive (but worth it) for the genre and very limited wine by the glass -- we saw several diners bring their own bottles. "

  • "Love the food staff and music. My only complaint because im nit picking I wish the band and waiters were better dressed. A more formal attire will fit better. "

  • "We went to a weekend dinner with some friends at 1001 and ended up spending more time than we expected, but it was our choice as the food was excellent, service was timely, and the music was most authentic. I've been at Persian restaurants from Europe to the States and this is my new favorite. Will definitely be back again."

  • "We made a last-minute reservation for dinner on Saturday, and were still able to have dinner there, but ended up seating in a separate dining area because the main one was full. I was glad to see that the restaurant now offers wine (they did not offer alcohol the last time but welcomed bringing our own bottle). The kids were disappointed that there there was no belly dancer, but there was some live musing. The food was great as always!"

  • "We were very impressed. No one on our party had experienced Persian food before. The wait staff suggested fabulous additions to our entrees. The overall consensus at our table was that all the dishes were extremely tender and flavorful. I had the beef tenderloin and chicken combo barg. Both meats were so tender that they would fall apart as we tried to share with others in our party. The best item at the table was the chicken barg (flat chicken). We also really enjoyed the baklava cheesecake. The service was wonderful but we were the only ones in the restaurant (5:15 reservation) for the first half of our meal. Apparently there is live music later on in the evening. We would definitely make the hour drive back to dine here."

  • "Nice restaurant, good date night place. We had kids and went early in the evening, which worked out well. Food was excellent, we couldn't decide what to order! We ordered the combo kabob platter and it was all very good. I was expecting it to be a little bigger, but it still worked out really well. Staff was great in telling us how o combine different flavors for the best experience. We will definitely be going back soon!"

  • "The steak kabobs were excellent. My dish (chicken in a pomegranate sauce) was okay. Too sweet for me, but the waiter had kindly forewarned me of this which I appreciated. Service was good until after we had finished our meal, no one came by to refill glasses or offer us a dessert menu. We waited for 20 minutes and had to ask to be waited on. Other than that service was fine and food came out fast."

  • "Many items on the menu and many selections you will not find at other Persian restaurants. The portions are generous and the presentation is amazing. The restaurant is large and tables are well spaced. The interior of the restaurant is modern looking but still feels warm. We were seated promptly and our drink orders were taken almost immediately. The wait-staff is well versed on the menu items and they were very courteous. We will be going back to this restaurant again soon. For those looking to try something new, Persian food is not like Indian food and Persian food is not spicy."

  • "As a parent of two young, energetic boys, I was dying to have a date night with my hubby. He found this restaurant and we made reservations after securing a baby sitter. When we arrived, I became a little disappointed because it was in the exact same location of a previous Mediterranean restaurant. The experience was mediocre and so was the food. My husband told me to trust him, that he read reviews of this place and from the pictures, it wasn't going to be the same. Lo and behold, that man was right. The ambiance was romantic, the service was great, and the food...well, you have to go and see for yourself. I ordered the Tabouli salad and Veggie kabob and it was absolutely amazing. I think this is my new favorite restaurant."

  • "1001 Nights was an awesome find for two young lovers who happen to be big time Persian food fanatics. We were both thrilled to find such a high quality Persian dining experience in the area. We went for the Valentine's Day special and, even though it was awesome, will certainly be back to try a variety of other neat, exciting, and interesting menu items. Everything was a joy and we are certainly big fans!"

  • "This was our fourth time dining at 1001 Nights. We were celebrating the 20th anniversary of our wedding engagement on Valentines Day. Despite the volume of guests dining that evening our experience was not diminished. Our server Nifola was prompt, knowledgeble and thoughtful during our dining experience. We ordered the grilled Salmon Kebob entree and salad respectively. Nifola recommended we try it with a side of their spicy sauce which was superb. The Valentines Day 3-course special was an exceptional value! If you're looking for an authentic Persian experience then you will likely enjoy 1001 Nights."

  • "Enjoyed the food, it was a nice change from where we normally eat. Kabobs are the specialty of the house, and the grilled chicken and lamp chops were really good. The wait staff was attentive and ensured we had what we needed through out the meal."

  • "My husband and I have tried my high scale restaurants in Buckhead, but decided to look elsewhere. We tried 1001 Nights and it was perfect. The live middle eastern music, the service, and most of all the food! The best part is that they service Halal food if you are looking for it."
