A word from 100 Steps Supper Club + Raw Bar
In the midwest, "supper club" means a spot where you can not only have a great meal, but a spot that functions as a bit of a social club too - a place to enjoy remarkable food + great company. One of our favorite parts of the night has been watching our customers interact - running into neighbors and friends, meeting up with family, or just enjoying a night out together - it's our own little social club. So we figured what could be more apt than calling ourselves the 100 Steps Supper Club.

The "raw bar" side - well that comes from wanting a nice, traditional oyster bar to belly up to and dive into raw oysters, clams, and other great seafood.

  • "Had 7:30 reservation and it was almost full. The room certainly holds the noise well. You could not hold a conversation with your tablemates without a lot of "What did you say" s . It was a little better later on when there were fewer diners. The food itself was wonderful. I would go back but either earlier or later."

  • "We shared five different selections, all of which were very good. The waitress was very helpful and knowledgeable. The only knock is in the size of the portions. Not a place for big eaters, although with the tasty bread I was able to soak up the sauces and satisfy my hunger."

  • "I have always been a fan of Au Taute Heurre, but I think I like their new restaurant even better. The quality and freshness of the food stands up to the reputation of ATH. I love the small plates on the menu so I can try a number of dishes and the variety in the menu is excellent. Service was excellent and the ambience as well. If I had any complaint at all, it would be that it was quite loud. But that will not deter me from going there as often as possible."

  • "It's obvious that the attention to detail in everything from wait staff to food preparation that there are very high standards in place and that the goal is to exceed expectations from the moment you enter until leaving. Four of us ordered a variety of small plates that ended with 2 pastas. We thoroughly enjoyed every dish with the exception of the olives. The staff knew how to bring them out and pace the meal so that we could enjoy the food and each other in total harmony. Can't say enough about the food, the touch of squid ink on the tuna plate was perfect. Precise and exquisite food preparation can become pretentious but not here. This team works so well together that it's hard to resist."

She's got Cordon Bleu creds from the Us of York and I would like to officially be a groupie. She can take this to the top and then some. fresh, precise, modern and 'the best of jersey'. comfort with a capital C."

  • "Cranford has a new sheriff in town and he's only 100 steps away. Seafood tower is not only reminiscent of a Parisian bistro but priced superbly. Highest quality shellfish alongside delicious ceviche and crudo. Cheeseboard is also outstanding with excellent domestic offerings. Pasta dishes weren't at the level I thought the rest of the menu was achieving. This small criticism was shared with the waiter and he passed it along to the owner who immediately asked for feedback. Total graciousness and class. This is what great restaurants do. 100 steps is an outstanding choice which along with a toute heure can easily make the claim as best restaurant in Cranford and surrounding towns."

When what you're sharing is so delicious, the enjoyment is multiplied--as is true with the dishes here. The staff is most cordial and knowledgeable--without "talking down" to the customers. The owner is gracious and sincere in checking with the customers. The decor and lighting support the festive experience. We really enjoyed our meal, will be back, and will bring family and friends. Definitely recommend."

  • "Its got three of my favorite things...oysters, tapas and BYO. Great feeling inside, nice table options. Food was awesome, enjoyed every bite. Prices a bit expensive, which we are usually willing to pay but, the cheese and cured meets were very expensive, which stopped me from ordering them...and I never do. Wait staff was pleasant, could tell they were new but had no issues. Would come back again definitely. Try to go before its impossible to get in, like their sister place across the street at ATH."

  • "From the moment you walk in- it's just a very cool place. We ordered 4 plates as per waiter suggestion.We got a mix of oysters- delish and the perfect amount.charred octopus was fantastic, we first had octopus in Greece on honeymoon. This was right up there with the best.We also had the crab claws which I had no idea how fresh and amazing those could taste. Then we had the Bronzino plate.The sauce it was in - literally took spoons and a had a few spoonfuls.We decided on dessert and opted for the sweet cheese plate and coffee for 2.The cheese board might have been one of my favorite things ever.It's provided with 3 types of cheese, various breads, sweet vidalia onion, real honeycomb (just awesome), and rhubarb jam.There was not a crumb left."

  • "I've been to ATH but this was my first time at 100 Steps. It has a very eclectic menu for those who enjoy a food adventure. The Prince Edward Island oysters were wonderfully fresh and sweet. I would go back just for fresh seafood. I'd like to go back with my husband and a bottle of wine. Nice atmosphere, nice staff - a bit pricey though for a casual night out."

  • "Another great BYOB in Cranford! I like the tapas concept here. We got to try so many more things! The oysters selection is great, and they are so fresh, flavorful, and juicy. The octopus was tender, scallop crudo melted in my mouth. The fennel sausage was amazing as well. I don't think there is anything on the menu I wouldn't have liked. Our waitress was attentive and able to answer all of our questions. Dishes were spaced out, and we didn't feel rushed. Love that the kitchen is a little more open, we can get a peek at talented chefs, hard at work. It can get noisey as the night goes on. I appreciated the owners coming around to check in on their patrons. It's fine food in a comfortable setting, not pretentious. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "The experience at 100 steps is all about what you order. My dishes were amazing - but my 2 dining companions were a little disappointed. We sent back the crab remoulade - it was so salty you couldn't bear it. Potatoes with crispy chicken skin were not as flavorful as we had hoped. We really were hoping the "small plates" were more "shareable" but they really aren't. They need a little time to settle in but I would try the restaurant again in the summer. Perhaps by then the dishes will be more even."

That said the black pepper pasta dish was one of the best I have ever had. The oysters were Fresh and delicious. Cheese plate was a great size."

  • "This is an interesting new restaurant. Casual and fun with unusual food options. Perfect for sharing. Cheese boards, salumi plates are a great way to start. We were a group of four and ordered the Salumi plate and then four more dishes. All were delicious and interesting. Portions are not huge, but we all walked away feeling full (also ordered two desserts!). BYOB- which helps keep the cost down. There is also a bar area which is kept for walk ins and you could see how this would be perfect after a movie in Cranford."

  • "We went for my husbands birthday and had a great dinner with yummy food. The owners are wonderful, so focused on making you feel comfortable and attended to. The only down side at all was the cost, it was expensive! Due to the tapas style it really added up with pricey plates. We will go back but its definitely a special occasion kind of place for us."
