Diner Reviews
  • "10 Center Street is my husband's and my "go to" for a quick bite at the bar on a week night, a fun weekend dinner out with friends, or a special occasion dinner with family. The food and service never disappoint."

  • "First time at 10 Center Street. We had a 730 reservation and didn't get seated until almost 8PM so not a great start but things went upwards from there. we were pleasantly surprised by the décor and vibrant scene upstairs. Although it was a bit loud, it was fun. The drinks came out and a friend ordered extra extra dirty martini and could barely taste the olives so not a great start but they were very accommodating to switch out her drink, The food then came and was unreal. all 4 of is ordered the steak tips and they were unreal. despite a rough start I would recommend this place"

  • "Had an Open Table reservation at 10:30 AM for a Sunday brunch on a cold, wet day. We were a little surprised to arrive to an empty parking lot and be the first ones there. (Now we know that 10:30 is when they open.). They were ready and the place was warm, and we sat by the fireplace in a quiet table downstairs. I would imagine it will be a lot busier in tourist season and the outdoor dining. The menu was limited for brunch, but enough and both dishes (French toast and eggs Benedict) were very well done and large portions. Service was good."

  • "We didn't have great service, perhaps because it was a party of 6 and a very busy Saturday night. But the menu had a variety of options, as did the wine/beer list and the noise level didn't matter for the group."

  • "I really like this restaurant. We arrived early for our reservation, checked in with the hostess and let her know we were going to the bar until our table was ready. Service at the bar was slow but once we were served, the service was exemplary. When our time came and passed I had the bar tender check and the hostess had given our table away. VERY disappointing, especially since she was told where we were going. The manager's remedy was to pay for a round of drinks but I was already done drinking since I was driving. We had to wait an additional 20 minutes for a table."

  • "We really enjoyed our dinner at 10 Center. The food was very good and the portions were extremely generous. My boyfriend got the Lobster Mac and Cheese and had leftovers for 2 days. The service was also very good. Our server, Tasha, was helpful and attentive. She even put up with our terrible humor. The only negative was that our table was located upstairs, in a corner, next to the fireplace. I was worried it would be too warm near the fire. Instead, there was a draft coming in from the window and it was very chilly. Tasha did offer to move us to a new table, but we chose to stay, despite the draft. Overall, the experience was very good and we would definitely go back again."

  • "I was in charge of choosing a restaurant for our group of 5 couples, so felt pressure to make it a good choice. I've been many times to 10 Center Street with smaller groups and have had great experiences. We were seated immediately, but service was really slow. Waited over 30 minutes for drinks, but food followed pretty quickly and was good. Server was very very sweet, but I think she had too many tables to give great service, not her fault."

  • "Food and service was good, but what I really appreciated was the ambience. We dined upstairs and although other folks were dining, we didn't much notice. My husband and I were able to enjoy conversation without straining to hear each other. It made for an enjoyable date night."

  • "Hadn't been in a few months and quite a disappointment. 1/2 hour late being seated with not so much as a "sorry for the delay" had I not pushed the issue. Food mediocre at best -- overcooked, under seasoned and over sauced. Service perfunctory to non-existent. Normally cozy and lovely in the winter but a band/party on the entire 2nd floor made the noise level deafening -- we should have been forewarned. Servers absent when we left and had to find someone to get our coats, who opened a closet and suggested we get them ourselves, before promptly disappearing again without even a "thank you for coming". We clearly were an inconvenience and not their priority that evening. Pretty dreadful from beginning to end. We won't be back soon."

  • "Went 10 Center Street for valentines day. It was our second visit, a week prior to this we stopped in and had some apps at the bar. Between the two visits, we tried 2 entrees and probably 5 appetizers - all of the food exceeded our expectations. The second floor has two fireplaces and exposed wood beams, a very beautiful setting. The only less than positive comment is that each visit there has been tables with small children who are very loud. It doesn't seem like the kind of restaurant that would attract people with small children but we had to deal with the noise during both visits."

  • "Great meal and experience. Cheese fondue and cast iron skillet cookie pie were really great. Server even hand stuff blue cheese into my martini's olives! Menu is a nice mix and the space is in an old house with dark walls and candles bouncing off if them. All in all a great time. Well done 10 Center"

  • "I love this place... Flavorful, delicious food with a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The fireplaces are lovely- 10 Center is my go-to winter spot."

  • "That 10 Center donated the entire $50 we spent for brunch for 2 is amazing. The portions were generous and the food was delicious. The only odd thing was being asked to decide on all 3 courses at once. Usually, even with prix fixe, one can choose dessert after the meal, not before. I did feel that 30 minutes after ordering was a long time to wait before any food arrived--the wait could have been mitigated by a bit of bread or crackers to munch on. But it was not a bad thing considering we were dining on a fine meal to support feeding hungry people. Benedict and skirt steak were both great. I give 10 Center and Michael's Harborside lots of credit for being the only North Shore restaurants to participate in the Super Hunger Brunch."

  • "My first time at 10 Center Street. We will definitely be back! We started with the Fish Taco appetizer which was amazing. I had the skirt tips, they were cooked perfectly, the flavor was outstanding. The wait staff and greeter were very attentive. Overall a pleasurable dining experience. Ten Conter is a perfect 10!"

  • "10 Center has a lot of potential with several different areas that can cater to different types of parties. The rolling upstairs bar and multiple fireplaces add to the ambiance. The menu is overpriced and unfortunately the food/service leaves something to be wanted. My medium rare filet was well-done and almost too salty to eat. I would have sent it back if we would have had the time. We'll try it again at some point but will probably keep it as an appetizer / bar location."

  • "Salmon was way undercooked. Close to sashimi. Really. I cook and a little undercooked is fine. Waitress knew we were having an intimate evening and was too intrusive. Shame she was nice enough but needs some instruction. Still tipped her very well."

  • "10 Center's chocolate chip cookie and ice cream dessert is outstanding! Not just a cookie with ice cream, as we expected. Make a point to get this at your next visit. What a surprise! Top 5 dessert ever!!"

  • "Very much enjoyed the ambiance of the place. We lived in the area for 16 years and finally got here. Food was very good, but not great, and menu was a bit limited. Service was outstanding. Will return again and try out the bar this time. But sad we missed the jazz."

  • "We used to love 10 Center Street. We went on a cold night to get out of the house...should have stayed home. The restaurant was cold and noisy, though it wasn't that busy. We had an early reservation but were starving. It took over an hour to get our food. Service was unapologetic and slow. Needless to say, we probably won't be returning."

  • "Feel very fortunate to get in at the last minute. Hostess and wait staff very friendly and responsive. Appreciated both the event menu (1 taker) as well as access to some of the standard evening menu (great burger), shows the customer overrides convenience. Bar is warm & friendly, love the place! Note: had lunch there same day - all good!"

  • "We celebrated my man's 54th birthday last Saturday night. I hoped it would be memorable. We were given the most romantic spot next to the fireplace in the corner of the room with windows to enjoy the snowy evening. Our server was attentive, gave us great recommendations and left us alone. The food was spectacular so we will return. A good value, as well. Thank you Ten Center St, you exceeded my expectations. I am a Newburyport resident and haven't eaten there in several years, that is about to change."

  • "Took the family to 10 Center on Christmas Eve. far less crowed that expected. I hadnt been here for 3 years, not sure why, but had a great meal/experience. Started with truffle oil and parmesean fries... awesome! I had the skirt tips with blue & cheese mashed... that was a 10! My wife had the scollps/lobster rissoto, she rated it a 9+. My daughter had Baked potato flatbreat and really liked it, a little greasy from the generous bacon. Only disappointment was the burger my son had was cooked as ordered (medium- a little pink inside) but was still VERY tasteless, dry and the reason the food got 4 starts instead of 5. Love the atmousphere here.. brick and fireplaces everywhere. Waitress was attentive and helpful. Definity going back."

  • "Server wasn't very attentive, but there was some function going on upstairs, which lead me to believe that maybe they were under staffed"

  • "Great ambience, particularly by the fireplace. Not too loud. Food was excellent with creative flair. Lack of parking was somewhat of an issue, but we found parking on the main street and walked over."

  • "We went here for our Thanksgiving dinner and were very pleased with the quality and variety of food. The staff were very friendly and even though this was a buffet they went out of their way to assist my wife since she recently had knee surgery. It was a little loud but they sat us next to the fire place and we had a wonderful time."

  • "Have had trouble sometimes with the entrees but their specialty seems to lay with their appetizers and burgers and menu updates. Wine specials are always a welcome surprise and superb service makes the evening an occasion to remember. Questions were either readily answered or found out and then tastes and samples brought without asking making us feel catered to and pampered. The downstairs is so cozy and welcoming-always look forward to hitting it on a Winter's eve or late Summer out on the deck. Wish the upstairs had the same ambience? Buffets are not my favorite, so we opt for other menu choices."

  • "I have been eating regularly at Ten Center for lunch and went for dinner with my husband and some friends. The quality of the food was very high and the choices on the menu are suitable for many different appetites. Good drink selection also! Prices are right in range for what I would expect for a restaurant of this caliber. The only downside was the restaurant upstairs was a little loud to carry on a conversation. It was a very good experience overall, we will be back!"

  • "Fantastic 10 oz angus berger the best I have ever had and on Mondays it is only $5...Wow what a deal."

  • "I especially enjoyed sitting upstairs where it was slightly quieter and near the fireplace. The booths downstairs are quite small, so not really conducive for 4 people. Great evening!"

  • "Went recently for brunch. Menu was limited but food was decent. Service was not at all good - we felt neglected by our waitress. Two egg dishes were served lukewarm. The lobster croissant was the best dish, but the fries were soggy. Have been there for dinner before and would recommend an evening meal over the brunch meal."

  • "We started with the fish tacos and flatbread pizza apps to share among 6 of us and they were excellent. The dinners were good, not great. Salads with fish/chicken were typical, the seafood risotto was not a table favorite, disappointing actually. Lobster Mac and cheese was very good. Our waitress was not as attentive as she should have been. The place is cozy and with a fireplace on a cold night it's very inviting."
