  • "After seeing an enjoyable play at the Roundabout Studio 54 my wife and I enjoyed a delicious meal at Nocello. The food was very good and it was priced reasonably. The wait staff was attentive but not overbearing and allowed us to have a casual meal without any rushing. Will recommend Nocello to friends."

  • "Nocello is a gem in the hectic atmosphere of midtown. The food was delicious, well presented and reasonably priced."

  • "I've been here several times. Usually I can trust this place to be consistently good food and a pleasant experience. On this most recent occasion, there was a group of 8 at the table next to us, who were very loud; the temperature in the restaurant was very warm; we advised the waiter that we had tickets for the theater at 8:00. Our reservation was at 6:30. The waiter had crusty white stuff in the corner of his mouth that stayed there the entire time; he showed no concern for our timing; I had gotten the prix fixe and was unable to take advantage of the dessert and coffee. Also, the wine pricing is very high. A glass price of one of the wines which I'm familiar with is more than the cost of the whole bottle at the local liquor store."

  • "Monday the 7th was my second time dining at Nocello and it was just as fantastic as the first. I wanted to order something different from the first time but the veal drew me back in and happy I ordered it. Tender and delicious. I'll be back."

  • "We read reviews on TripAdvisor and chose this Italian restaurant as we were staying in the area. Well, a nice surprise. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner with excellent service from friendly, personable waiters. We chose pasta dishes with salad and clams casino. The clams were great, with pieces of pimento on top. My ravioli Nocello was something unusual and delicious with a rich sauce of spinach, sun dried tomatoes, and walnuts. The dining room was narrow with linen covered tables, candles and interesting wall decorations that added to the nice ambiance. There were two other dinning areas further back. Prices were reasonable. Though we probably would not make this restaurant a destination, we would eat here again if in the area."

  • "We made a reservation at Nocello per friends' recommendation and we had a wonderful time. Service was impeccable. Within less than 2 minutes we had our drinks, bread and dipping olive oil and we ordered out appetizers. The grilled portobello salad was incredible. Everything else after that was just out of this world-very simple, yet with a decadent taste. I was amazed by their desserts- all the berry versions were to die for. Overall, we would dine there any time we are in NYC, but will also highly recommend it to friends"

  • "The first time I came here I wasn't sure what to expect and frankly the address at that point (near the theater district and some hotels in that area) almost mattered more than other considerations. But, we loved it. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, you're not rushed to make choices, there are reasonably priced choices on the wine list and the food is top notch. Portions are generous, but they are open to a couple of people sharing a pasta, for instance, as a starter. The veal dishes are among the best of the breed that I've tried. Definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in that part of town. Oh, and it is a great spot for out-of-town guests - New York sophistication without the attitude."

  • "They dont make them like this anymore. A genuinely relaxed atmosphere, a place that isnt trying to be other than what it is, almost like eating in someones home. Food was excellent, reasonably priced, service pleasant and efficient. Great place to go with good friends and talk without shouting."

  • "The dishes were great new good portion. The home-made pasta with 2 lobster taiw was excellent, as well as the mixed seafood angel hair pasta dish. The service is excellent with multiethnic people including the host attending to our table."

  • "I can't say enough about Nocello. I've never had a bad meal there and the owners treat you like family. By far one of the best dining options in the area - and much more reasonable than most."

  • "Possibly a one time thing, but our party of four seemed to be forgotten once the appetizers came. After leaving the table to find the waiter a few times, we finally reminded another waiter that our entrees were missing. people coming in well after us were getting service in the back area. Entrees arrived one at a time spaced by a few minutes. The maitre d' finally came back to apologize as we finished up the meal. Very disappointed."

  • "We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at 1 Nocello. I ordered pesto over a different pasta than was on the menu, which I was told would be no problem to prepare. It was excellent. My dining companion ordered a risotto with shrimp which was fantastic. Service was a little slow, but they were very busy. I would definitely return, but at a less hectic time."

  • "We have been to this restaurant twice before. It is a superb place to have a quiet dinner. The food is outstanding, as is the service. The waiters are friendly, not officious, and there when you need them. They are never intrusive. The food is outstanding as well. The chef makes everything look and taste woderful. This is a very special restaurant."

  • "We pick Nocello quite often when we will be going someplace in the W50's. The food is always good, service wonderful and it's nice to be recognized as a returning customer. Go there and enjoy a wonderful evening."

  • "Met an old friend and we wanted to talk for hours. The staff was patient and unrushed. I had the veal and it was superb. I would highly recommend visiting them!"

  • "It's very difficult to find another restaurant in NYC that provides excellent food, warm and friendly service, with a sophisticated ambience for a very reasonable price. Still New York City's best kept secret at 20 years and counting."

  • "Took friends from Los Angeles to dinner on a recent Saturday night. Everything was absolutely perfect! Food, ambience and service top notch. I will definitely be back. Loved it!"

  • "We planned a quiet dinner before the theatre and wanted to try a new place...Was surprised by the noise level. There was a private party taking place in the main rear area and we were seated at the little loft just above it. It was crowded (expected in NYC restaurants) but also impossible to carry on a conversation with all the noise from that party. Food was great, service was carefree to the point that I wondered if we were disturbing the service staff by being there. Maybe if we had been seated in the front area, things might have seemed different."

  • "the waiter was too pushy - rushed us to order! Didn't even give us a chance to look at the menu before he came over and asked what we wanted. Did this through the whole dinner. We had to ask him to give us time throughout the whole experience"

  • "This was possibly the worst meal I have ever had in NYC. We had dined there and were very pleased. Not one person out of our group of six was pleased. In fact, the others put there reviews on tripadvisor. We are in nYC often and we always say that you don't often get a bad meal. This tops all lists of bad food."

  • "A favorite for years, I am never disappointed and whenever I introduce the restaurant to new people they love it and become loyal customers as well. They are also very accommodating for special requests. The wine list is good with a number of affordable selections."

  • "This is such a wonderful find. We got a table in the back, left hand room of the restaurant which was a great location. The food and service were both terrific. The capellini with mixed seafood was wonderful and the berries in a zabaglione sauce is really worth getting too. We are definitely going back and bringing more friends."

  • "Very small space and when crowded- very noisy to a point where you can't hear what others in your party are saying... However the food is incredible. Been going there for years."

  • "A visit from out-of-town friends prompted us to return on a recent Saturday night for a pre-theater dinner. While every table appeared taken, service was solicitous. Pours of the house wines were generous enough to forgo ordering from the wine list. Three of us ordered from the $39 fixed price menu, while three ordered a la carte. No one suffered. The appetizer beet salad was fresh, as were the clams casino. My ravioli with sausage was nicely seasoned, and my neighbors skinned breast of duck well presented. Full marks were awarded the seafood risotto with lobster, shrimp and clams. One of our group thought to order an after-dinner glass of Nocello. I'd forgotten quite how aromatic that walnut-based liqueur is. Next time, I I'll have one."

  • "My husband and I happened upon this gem in a strange way. A friend had recommended Nello but on Open table I found Nocello & I think had a much better dining experience from the reviews of Nello. Nocello is family run, small & intimate and the food is right from Tuscany.Service was sublime. I am happy we made the "mistake" And would recommend to anyone wanting a true Italian dining experience."

  • "My husband and I always enjoy dining at 1Nocello. The veal is THE BEST, and my husband loves the pasta and lobster. It's cozy and romantic, with great service. What more can you ask?"

  • "Came here for the Valentine's Day Prix-Fix. The food was very good and the ambiance was great. The service was a bit slow and our waiter didn't seem to have much patience to explain matters clearly."

  • "We had a fantastic dinner for Valentines day. The food was very good we started with crab cakes and baked clams both very good, although just warm I'm assuming the Vday rush made them not as hot.. Our second course was a lobster bisque out of all four courses this was the one I was most disappointed in - it tasted like a tomato soup with some lobster meat not very exciting. For our dinner course I had the lobster and shrimp fettuccine in vodka sauce - it was a large portion and amazing! My husband had the rack of lamb and said it was great as well. We finished with a piece of chocolate cake very good but I wish there had been a choice of desert as the chocolate was quite heavy after 3 filling courses before. Great Meal - Thank you!"
